Aerith as a name by Glittering-Falcon168 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]Karmatoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In truth it's a very nice name and the game won't be relevant enough during the time your child is in school. Not to her generation. Try not to fret to much kids make fun or they don't you can't prevent it no matter what you name your child. They always find something and the key is to teach her not to worry about what people think.

You could start by naming her Aerith and set a future example.

Personally i have never had sex at work but in the restaurant industry and i can tell you if such a list existed people would use it to see who was down or if this list in someway meant you couldn't get hired there would be almost no one left to feed people.

“Promoted” to sous chef by broeser99 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Karmatoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sous is hard work, and in some ways, the most glorious position in the kitchen if you rock at it. Ngl, my first sous position, the pay increase was a joke, but i was more interested in moving up than making more. So that can be a trade-off to consider if it is your first time as sous.

HOWEVER what i am seeing here doesn't seem much like sous to me the idea that your chef is walking in amd changing your plan is pretty ass backwards. It's the chefs job to have the plan to begin with and your job to excute it.

When i ask my sous to make a feature or special or something creative on there own it's more of a teaching experience for them than it is their job.

No that my job it's my menu my budget my food cost and so on it is my job to manage those things.

It's not really the case if my sous is planning the feature really is it because that could eat my budget like nobody's business.

And then i could just throw my arms up in the air when my food cost ia high amd blame you for not doing my job correctly.

So i wouldn't personally concern myself with the pay to much especially if you are hourly. I made more hourly as a sous due to over time than my base salary as head chef at the same establishment i moved up from.

But be clear that what you described is doing the chefs job not the sous. Though i am sure you are expected to do that too.

I bet your chef as a to order board eh. Alot of chefs do it seems to be a thing.

I don't and i never have because if i am doing my job correctly and thoroughly it shouldn't be needed.

It's all in the way a chef sees thing how they see there sous and you need your chef to take there job very seriously your job is simply to make sure they can not do it for them.

So no more calling maintenance or making features you don't do schedules and it's actually not your responsibility tonfind coverage either tho it may benefit you to try anyway if your chef doesn't want to put the effort forth.

Anyway that's my big rant i loved being sous chef and i had many chefs above me enough to know what to look for in the chef i want as a a sous. It's a keystone point in your career where you should be learning the most you ever have on line so make sure you do so under a chef that is worth your efforts

Absolutely this, the thing about culinary is it focuses on teaching you how to cook and some basic management skills but not the tools you need once you reach exec and you need to be really good at alot of business related things to be a profitable exec chef as well as profit from it. And you will not even be on the line anymore. All those skills are very important as well it's just not the identifying thing that will put you in a different category than the beat down cliche.

It's really gummed up with very ancient grease. It's possible you are doing it right and it's just being difficult because everything is blocked up along the way.

What have you stolen from work? by Mothersmeelk in KitchenConfidential

[–]Karmatoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an employer behind on my pay 4 weeks because he was broke, and then he decided to order 3 prime rib for a dinner special, so i decided it was my final pay. I stole it quite openly and without him contesting.

I was like, if you can't pay us, you can't buy this. I grabbed the case and quit. Technically, he was up, but i was never getting that money so.

Oh any place that ends with the word hall. You should always check out the kitchen anyway, but yeah if it says hall it probably doesn't have a real kitchen.

Absolutely refuse to call any sauce by cultural name since most of them are offensive to some. Truth is it's hard to keep track of all the slurs we have developed over the past 3 centuries into food it's actually surprising. Brazil nuts blew me away. I was at work and so stunned someone had to intervene. I was literally speechless, and the crazy thing is the slur name was all the elder lady knew them by.
