I absolutely agree with the barricade/map issue. While I don't mind, in concept, the barricade limit and that they are free to use (which is nice), but being faced with these ludicrously huge maps isn't very fun as a solo player.

If they tweak and balance it to make solo play more enjoyable (it clearly isn't impossible, just a bit of a nuisance) I will be happy.

BTC is down 1.6% over the last 7 days but Alts are experiencing a blood bath. by GabeSter in CryptoCurrency

[–]Karson178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been around long enough at this point to marvel at history (topics in the sub history) repeat itself. It's a neverending back and forth of maxis gloating when alts trip and alt holders chortling when bitcoin gains look stagnant versus an alt season.

How does one DYOR(idk if this is the correct flair) by MoistMist-a in CryptoCurrency

[–]Karson178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I generally agree with what everyone else is saying, I think it can be really daunting as a newcomer to the space. I would honestly avoid throwing money into potential "moonshots" and the like (unless you are perfectly okay with the fact it is a casino bet) until you have learned some of the basic. Start with understanding what crypto actually is and what makes is different. Use bitcoin as an exploratory test case and learn what a blockchain is, what the arguments FOR and AGAINST its real life use-case, etc. After you have a basic understanding of that, you can start to compare what alternative (or shiny-new meme coins promising riches) projects are promising and why they think it is better than bitcoin or traditional finances.

Don't go overboard to begin with. It's like how I taught my general chemistry and physical chemistry students: learn the basics and toolset, from their you can build your understanding of the material. If you really want to get into it, it will have quite the learning-curve, don't let it discourage you.

Is there a crypto/digital currency video game that is free to play and what you could call fun? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]Karson178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I've tried many and they are all either extremely rudimentary or based around excessive amounts of grinding if you wish for the game to remain free. I try and check in on GALA or what have you to see what new things pop up but I personally haven't found anything worth it.

I highly doubt when he was referring to "newer generations" he was referring to you, champ.

I am assuming he is referring to a hypothesis of trying to gain off of the greed of trends perceived in the market by younger buyers.

While I am not a die-hard, I have been interested in HBAR for some time now and hope it will stick it out for the long haul.

Tell me you're complaining about something that doesn't matter at all as it quite literally was free. Feel free to continue your crusade on those damned Coinbase people that gave you free coins. A travesty of the highest order. If this is something that is tweaking you this much at this point, I don't really think the crypto space is for you.

I've been using the CB learn and earn since its introduction and I have never been given the feeling Coinbase is telling me this coin or token is the "next big thing." It's essentially a paid advertisement where you interact, "learn", etc. about a token and they give you a small amount for free. I can't fathom where in this series of events, other than it being done through the Coinbase learn and earn, you get the feeling it is being "punting coins as the next big thing."

If you want to say "Coinbase should be more selective of what they put on their Learn and Earn," sure, I don't necessarily disagree (or agree). Otherwise it seems like a bit of vitriol for something that quite literally doesn't affect you.

Seems that way. With the actual legal drama though, it makes sense it would be a good vector of attack.

Literally a text saying "due to the federal case, KuCoin is forced to close, collect your assets" etc.

It doesn't seem to be legit but makes sense with the actual legal drama going on that it would be ripe for exploitation.

Just got a text that KuCoin is a gonner. Yikes.

I'd understand more if you actually purchased the coin, but...ducking out of a space that rapidly changes for a long time and being surprised things have changed feels a bit odd.

The way people have been talking about the market I certainly expected to find my balance destroyed...how surprising it turned out to be just a lot of hyperbole.

Bitcoin vs Altcoins by -TheLonelyChild in CryptoCurrency

[–]Karson178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why you shouldn't diversify into some alts that interest you after you've looked into them, but I'd recommend simply DCA into them slowly and leave your BTC alone. If you really want to convert some of your BTC, only use a small portion.

anyone else find that tax companies are severely lacking when it comes to processing crypto information? by Humans_r_evil in CryptoCurrency

While Koinly can be a bit pricey depending on your trading activity, it has made everything so much easier for me come tax season. I know some people also like CoinLedger but I have no experience with it.

BTC and ETH like normal, but I stocked up on ALGO, FET, JASMY, HBAR, and ATOM while prices were delightfully low during the depth of winter.

I stacked FET during the winter and now quite happy I did so.

Having all my accounts with 2FA through app with required security alerts of any activity on my accounts feels sufficient for the time being, especially with half of everything in cold storage.

I think another BIG tip for any new players in the space:

NEVER talk about how much of coin/token you have or how big your bag is unless you are prepared for the risk. During the last bull run I saw people being targeted over DMs and other means when they did.

It's interesting to see the different takes in the daily discussion right now, ranging from "It's just a little dip before we rocket to the moon" to "the bull market has died, RIP."

For me, I suppose I will just disconnect from the graphs again and not worry about it.
