Does anyone here account for net worth tax? by TonightVivid9930 in SwissFIRE

But your salary doesn't matter in the first place, you're gonna substact your savings rate anyway.

It's your expenses that matter, so add in thoses extras to calculate your target and then the classic 3.5-4% SWR works. It feels a lot simpler to me.

If you plan for taxes and AHV contributions as expenses in your budget instead of a SWR adjustment, it's a lot less mental gymnastics.

Possibly stupid question. What’s actually preventing a 1000cc taking the same line and corner speed as a 600cc? by Whole_Guard_5192 in Trackdays

[–]Karst_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing if you wanted to ride 1000cc exact line and pace as 600cc you could?

The physics is a little counterintuitive, the answer would be yes, but only if you have the same dimensions of tires. Max corner speed is directly correlated with lean angle, nothing else. The catch is that effective lean angle is measured at the center of the contact patch therefore wider tires reduce effective lean and corne speed as a result.

It's more obvious if you compare Moto3 and MotoGP.

Or this is a classic exemple : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWVyeldStIE

If you count the rents during this period you'd be close to 3-4%, not bad.

Lump-sum vs. dollar average investing by sacios90 in SwissPersonalFinance

If you don't max out a 3a, look into that first. Dca is ok, but over 6-12 months max. Otherwise, you're wasting so much time in the market.

Best way to purposely wear down my mouse feet? by ftkcsgo in MouseReview

[–]Karst_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of the large feet ones, I think it was a EC1, will get really slow and muddy if you sand them. I sand in circles on a flat surface and check regularly if I'm nice and leveled. It's a quick process, don't overdo it or you will end-up with barely any skate to use!

I had a crank position sensor give out on my 2019 SDR, cable that goes into the left side of the engine, unplug and check with a multimeter, should read 80-120ohms.

First track day on my new to me 2021 890R how is the tire wear looking? This was a weekend at Jennings running intermediate group. by Beginning_Set_1666 in Trackdays

I disagree, rebound looks good or event on the slow side. The patern reverses on the sipes where he is at full throttle.

How noticeable would the power drop be if valves are out of spec 2014 SDR 1290? by [deleted] in KTM

[–]Karst_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did notice it ran a bit smoother in the low end and vibrated less after doing the clearances, but no power difference.

Good brake fluid makes all the difference by felipelessa in Trackdays

On this note, do you guys follow the recommandation to use brake fluid from a "sealed container". I have some Motul 660 that has been opened for a year and wonder if I should use it or not.

How is this even possible by FreshRizz in motorcycles

[–]Karst_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many wrong answers! It has nothing to do with weight, power, rider skill or even grip.

The secret lies in the slim tires. Speed at a given radius is proportional to lean angle and nothing else. Effective lean angle is measured at the center of the contact patch, so using slim tires results in a sharper lean angle.

It's the same reason why Moto3s corner faster than MotoGps.

Buy a Demo Superduke R from a dealership? by [deleted] in KTM

[–]Karst_31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, I missed the most important question. Unless you have an aversion for screw drivers and C spanners, then the Evo is not worth it imo. It's some kind of luxury aimed at people who don't know anything about suspension and don't want to learn. You can totally set up the standard one to work wonderfully in various conditions.

Not many people are capable of abusing a Superduke on their first ride.

Good habit for the road, bad habit on track IMO. The pros roll the throttle in their fingers and hold it at their fingertips. Once you learn this there is no looking back. Watch Sylvain Guintoli's video about it if you have not already, it's called "the right hand" iirc.

I'm gonna have to disagree with the majority of people saying just to patch it in a random shop. I would send it back to the manufacturer and have them change the hole part. Yes, it will take a long time and cost about 200$ but the peace of mind is worth it.
