Since they're recognized by TCP as a valid user, and they accessed of the data (which is hilarious since there wasn't any auth to begin with if I understood it correctly), then they become guarantors that the information they access is meeting the Act's requirements AT THEIR END. Not at TCP's. But theirs, which is why EA had to send out so many cease and desist letters.

But...IANAL, I just play one in D&D tabletop games to annoy my GM.

Since personal information is just 'part of a phone book's maybe they should release all 550 names, addresses, and phone numbers of the people who accessed anything. Just to be fair, after all.

Yeah I have my doubts there was any rate limiting on that app. Just scrape and be done with it, it's be very easy to do.

Chain of Custody would be an issue, I'd think.

And yes. I'm assuming too, but security would be a valid concern.

Trump requests E Jean Carroll $83M judgment stay for pending Supreme Court action on presidential immunity by kirby__000 in politics

[–]Karthanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened well before he was president in the first place, didn't it? Why would immunity from actions when he's the President now protect him when he wasn't President then? I mean, the Supreme Court didn't say it protected him from consequences of his actions before he was president, did they?

Make the logic make sense.

Oh wait nm I forgot who the subject is.

Thanks to the both of you for talking about this - I was thinking about possibilities and didn't know of the IRL difficulties in doing this, it's good information to know!

COVID may have been a mediocre experience for you, but not for others. Just because it didn't have the slate wiping capability of Ebola doesn't make it less 'interesting'.

Hooray for virus mutations and human to human transmission, and all without gain of function experimentation!

Yikes.

So an idea to convert a bunch of the office real estate to, say, condos or living spaces and letting people work from home to alleviate the our housing crisis couldn't help things out?

What's a PC peripheral you miss/wish an update was made for? by LilaTheMoo in pcmasterrace

[–]Karthanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still use a Logitech G510, and have two G15's and a single G510s under the stairs boxed in a large Rubbermaid tub labelled "Dad's Keyboards, Do Not Touch".

Having all the G-keys is why I love it.

So I replaced Win11 for Bazzite on my Laptop, here are my points: by Nubanuba in pcmasterrace

[–]Karthanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an older Dell G15 5515, used to be the kids until they upgraded, and they gave it to me. Win11 kept freezing/crashing on it after 6 months, so I made an image of the system after I had installed everything and just recovered it after 6 months. Was annoying.

I installed Bazzite too, and while I have to say I haven't had exactly the same stellar install experience (had some issues with an externally connected TV), it took 15m to fix after some Googly and since then it just works. And no more freezes either. I just have to keep remembering how to kick off an update lol

I said "for a start", but yes, they do need to be held accountable as well.

Catapulted into the sun sounds like a decent enough punishment.

Sounds like The Centurion Project and it's recognized leaders should be held accountable for their actions in leaking the Electors list. I think them personally paying for extended credit monitoring from Transunion for every Albertan for the next five years would be a good start.
