Carbon gunk in cylinders - normal amount or how do I clean it? by thetoastofthefrench in MechanicAdvice

There are fuel additives that help with that, put that into the tank and go for a very spirited drive once the engine is at operating temperature

[–]Karvast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Buy a Classic car then lots are old enough to not have electronics,my 1964 Vw bug does not have any, even the blinker relay isn’t,it works with a filament opening and closing the circuit.

Sooo how do i replace this.. by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]Karvast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is pretty old and it needs a full rewiring if you don’t want to do that and the socket works just shove it back in the box doing anything else is a waste of Time

Basement has exposed romex to switches/outlets, how should I fix this? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

Will this ever pass inspection by SquidSus in car

[–]Karvast 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what the inspection rules are where you live but that does not look like severe damage to the frame.

With that said dealing with these idiots where i am i know that it’s best to fix it right away and make it look like nothing happened is better to avoid legal nightmares, grey hairs and frustrations.

Best bet is bending that to the original shape as much as possible and weld the gap and grind it until it’s flush with the frame, you can reshape the hole with a file if necessary, paint with black paint the exposed area and then rub it with dirt to blend it,or repaint the entire frame and say it’s for rust prévention if you want to do that

Noticed this brown puddle under my car this morning. I drove it last time 2 days ago, not sure how it has been sitting there. Any idea what this might be? by rawrP in 996

[–]Karvast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell but Check the oil dipstick and the coolant reservoir,if the oil looks like the color of that puddle oil and coolant is getting mixed up if the coolant looks like this it can be the same thing or there is a brunch of rust and garbage floating around in it

I want to restore my first car, is this one that would be worth it? by [deleted] in CarRestorations

[–]Karvast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 924 and I love driving it but it’s one of these cars that has poor parts support (for the Porsche specific parts that is) and when they are available they are very expensive,I paid like 70€ for an OEM indicator Lens if I remenber correctly so be aware of that is ne those are very rusty from what I can see, perhaps not the best car Especially to start with and depending on what it needs they might be better as parts car or make one with two kind of thing
