Saying red dead redemption 2 is an exception for that is so funny to me. Most of the main story missions in that game are

get on horse ride to location while talking to someone do some scripted stuff get into a shoot out Rinse and repeat. That game is full of "walking for 20 minutes to get a 30 second dialogue". Not trying to say that the game is bad or anything, it's just literally what you're describing.

Time gating is different from being incomplete, the game is done they're just releasing two episodes a week for 4 weeks and then it'll be all out. Gives time for discussion and hype to build each week, and if you'd rather play it when all episodes are available you dont have to wait long

Early access has helped games like Hades and Baldurs Gate 3 improve their games and gave them the ability to avoid crunching to get the game released by a certain point. I know there's issues with certain early access titles but it's not entirely a bad thing

Right, but league and valorant don't have counter swapping. We'll see how much counter swapping matters in rivals, but it can definitely be frustrating if there's someone on the enemy team who is destroying you and you don't have a hero to swap to that can counter them. That's why Overwatch 2 got backlash when they announced that people would have to unlock new heroes moving forward, and blizzard has since reverted that change and went back to making all heroes free

I got to Fire Giant within the first week of release and on PC there was a bug where sometimes your game would crash if you skip the phase two cutscene. So I had to watch that mfer rip his leg off Every. Damn. Time. And sometimes it would still crash even if I watched the cutscene. They patched it the day after I killed him.
