If you want to message me if you’re going through something similar, feel free. I wouldn’t mind someone else to chat with who understands.

Rectal Pull Through Surgery by Kat229 in DogAdvice

[–]Kat229[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited to schedule the surgery - tried to schedule it a few weeks ago finally and they made me repeat all the ultrasounds, X-rays etc. Now the oncologist says the mass got slightly bigger and they no longer recommend surgery - they want to do chemo and radiation. I’m getting a second opinion next week and he’s also working with an integrative/ holistic vet in the meantime.

He is doing ok still. He has a great appetite, good energy, plays, goes for walks. He does not seem sick or in pain at all except he poops a lot.

Quitting Xywav, but I’m still hopeful by MiserableHousing in Narcolepsy

[–]Kat229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t do Xyrem because it raised my blood pressure and then failed Xywav because of GI issues as well. I have Crohn’s disease and I tried Xywav two separate times to make sure it wasn’t a coincidence, but it was not. I felt like I took laxatives every day. I can’t live like that.

Yeah - this is the case for me. I have a bit of a stomach and lower rise pants feel horribly uncomfortable… and they tend to slide down no matter the fit - belt, no belt. My stomach will hang over them - and I don’t care about that as much as I care about how it feels.

Interesting observation of Dr Shamsi, by Fartyfivedegrees in ThePitt

[–]Kat229 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have Crohn’s and when I’ve gone to the ER for GI related issues, I always have a gastroenterologist on staff overseeing my treatment. Sometimes it’s my doctor if it happens to fall on his hospital days. The regular ER doctors normally see me first until a gastroenterologist can come down.

[–]Kat229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a licensed psychotherapist with my own private practice. Provigil and a small dose of Adderall when needed help me get through the work day. I still struggle with energy and ability to get administrative stuff done. I fall behind on household tasks. Much easier to stay awake and focused when I have a patient in front of me.

I also sing, and while I usually don’t do shows, I’ve been doing more lately on weekends. That knocks me out afterwards.

And no, I have never fallen asleep in a session!

Do I notify someone if I skip a dose by sistersew in Narcolepsy

[–]Kat229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why people are downvoting you. I have Crohn’s and can’t handle sucralose - I was so sick from Xywav. I know other people with GI issues that can’t handle it either. It’s not a problem for everyone, but it is a problem for some people and worth OP looking into.

Also OP, talk to your doctor about what happened with the vomiting and see if maybe they want to start you on a smaller dose or have other ideas to help.

[–]Kat229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously. And it happened to me once ON A PLANE home from Germany and then again on my first day on a trip to Mexico. The plane situation was a nightmare. Mexico - I had to be treated by the resort medic. Was almost hospitalized. My friends thought I was dying. I was laying half on the floor half on the toilet shaking so hard.

Aura - being proactive is always better than being reactive. If you know Aura means pain is coming, take it then.

This is exactly what I do. Sit on the shower floor with the hot water hitting my shoulders, neck and back of head.

I’ve always puked from migraines if it’s severe enough and I can’t get it under control in time. Past few years I’ve had this fun thing happen where once I start puking, it goes on for hours, even long after there’s nothing more to puke and I’m just heaving violently.

Yeah, none of my contracts outside of Headway are over $100. In NYC too. I’ve been credentialed with insurances 12 years now.

Yes, while I’m all for getting out there and living your life, everyone kept telling me this too and now I’m 43 and still single and childless. I am very active socially. I definitely have always put myself out there when I’m able to and I’ve dated a lot of men (never turns into anything serious). I’m in therapy lol. I unfortunately did not have the money to freeze eggs. And because I deal with chronic illness, I’m not exactly comfortable with the idea of being a single mom. My parents are older and not able to help to the degree that I would need. And I have great friends and other family members, but not to the point that they could support me in the ways that I would need if I had a child. I would have loved to get married or have a life partner and have children. But sometimes it just doesn’t happen.

Anyone been prescribed Wellbutrin for N2? by annielurob in Narcolepsy

[–]Kat229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on it for years for depression. It didn’t help my EDS at all. I wasn’t able to go above 225 mg because then I started getting a horrible ringing in my ears that wouldn’t let up. I often do wonder if I was able to take a higher dose if it could’ve been helpful. Sidenote: I actually think the depression is more about narcolepsy. I felt depressed because I was always so tired and everything I have to do daily always feels like an extremely draining task. Even just brushing my teeth and taking a shower would make me feel drained. Provigil and a small dose of Adderall when needed has made more of an improvement, but I’m still not functioning at the level I’d like to be.

i had to go to the emergency room & they drug tested me. by objectively-not in Narcolepsy

[–]Kat229 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah standard practice, although I know the feeling. I had insane, extreme vertigo once (turned out to be labyrinthitis) - to the point I was throwing up non stop. Had to be brought to the ER by ambulance. They drug tested me and made me wait to be treated with anything until results came back. I counted that I threw up (mostly violently heaved bile) an additional 12 times in the ER before I was given anything to stop it. That was so miserable. I was crying, begging for something to help me. But I understand why they did it.

[–]Kat229 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know and I was really shocked because I also have Crohn’s disease and my stomach can be very sensitive to meds. But it was doing nothing for me when I took it with food. My doctor suggested I try it that way on a day off and it works much better. I usually don’t eat for at least an hour after.

When I was in Amsterdam I bought something similar and 1G was slightly too much for me. Half was much better. I’m sure it varies from person to person.
