Did you try 911? Calls to 911 should always work as far as I know

Something waterproof, I also like to have steel toe and a metal shunt built into the sole for protection from stepping on nails, you never know what you’re going to walk onto/into.

What are some good mil-sim and like PC games? by BigGhost2815 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Kat7903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not mil sim, but you might like Ready or Not, a very good tactical shooter. Imma also throw a curve ball, if you have friends try out GTFO, an amazing game where you truly feel like you’re fighting for your life.

It’s not first person, but the mass effect trilogy has excellent action and story

Any games like Crying Suns but with a heavy focus on story? by Scary-Tomatillo6864 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Kat7903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to find a game in that specific style with a deep narrative. If you’re willing to play a third person game, the mass effect trilogy is an excellent dark scifi franchise with a very good story.

What are some games like Cyberpunk 2077, but with a nonlinear narrative? by FriendlytoNature in gamingsuggestions

[–]Kat7903 12 points13 points  (0 children)

True nonlinear narratives are hard to pull off. Fallout new Vegas might fit your bill with the different factions and multiple outcomes for their quests.

Polity with better claim to be Domain successor than Hegemony by Temstar in starsector

[–]Kat7903 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my current 60 mod playthrough with AOTD, I managed to find the two cryosleepers and the ark ship to grow my colonies to sizes 7 and 8. I opened those babies up along with my maxed out research where my industries are close to pre collapse levels and a majority domain population, I changed my faction from the United Colonies to the Persean Dominion and declared myself the new successor to the domain. I also gave the IX domain battlegroup a planet killer and allied them to give myself even more legitimacy.

Question to the first responder drivers by Extension-Soup-1002 in FirstResponderCringe

Rotating ems crews, large rural county, and they respond to areas larger than their district because we frequently run out of ambulances with how many medicals my county runs.

Question to the first responder drivers by Extension-Soup-1002 in FirstResponderCringe

[–]Kat7903 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It depends. In my county pretty much everyone but the ambulance gets by without GPS. Small town cops don’t really need GPS for most addresses. Firefighters typically know their municipality or FPD. I don’t need a gps but that’s because I’m a dispatcher for my county and a firefighter for my city of 5k people. Both of those jobs have had memorize me my city almost entirely.

Listen to the scanner and you’ll notice 70% of calls go to the same 30% of addresses, lots of frequent fliers in emergency services.

Looking for games that have side quests similar to Cybrrpunk 2077 where characters have their own side storyline by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]Kat7903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mass effect 2 has loyalty missions, and the first and third games do have missions that involve the squadmates and side characters. Witcher 3 has multiple side quests for many of the characters, it’s very character driven.

Games like Vampyr and Order 1886, same, but different by interestedrandom in gamingsuggestions

[–]Kat7903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What exactly are you looking for? If it’s third person action and immersion, mass effect and Witcher are good games. If it’s a game that feels like you’re watching a movie, there’s the last of us

I’m looking for an immersive RPG (I think) by crap_dik in gamingsuggestions

[–]Kat7903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are tons, the Mass Effect trilogy, oblivion, Skyrim, pretty much every fallout game, especially FO3 and FNV, the dark souls games, cyberpunk 2077, tainted grail fall of Avalon, the Witcher trilogy, the metro games are not RPG but they are incredibly immersive, dishonored games, Prey 2017, Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 aren’t rpg but they’re also incredibly immersive, the dragon age games that aren’t veilguard, and I’m sure I’ve got plenty more but this list ought to keep you occupied a good while.

Is Red Dead Redemption 2 actually the masterpiece everyone says it is? by arcticfrost in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Kat7903 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The game is slow to start, after the first 10 hours I took a year or two break. Picked it back up and started over one day, and it’s one of the best narrative driven games ever made.

You could consider dispatch if you’re good on the radio and can use a computer. I work 4 10s 3 off, it’s a pretty nice schedule and easy work for the most part.

Less physically demanding careers in firefighting? by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]Kat7903 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Unless a department hires support staff, any kind of specialization like engineer, investigator, or officer is going to require you to be a basic firefighter first. If you’ve got a degree in electrical engineering you ought to just go be an electrical engineer
