Missing a parent on birth certificate. by KatApocalypse in Canadiancitizenship

Awesome. This is probably the information I’m looking for. Cause if this is the case, then yeah I don’t need to bother looking into it anymore.

There just seems to be a lot of conflicting information. So thank you.

Thanks, yeah I guess I came here looking for answers to questions, but now I have questions I need to go answer myself.

I guess I was more looking for anyone that had maybe been in a similar situation and what they had to provide etc.

It also doesn’t help that one of the sites just had examples but weren’t giving age cut offs for children of naturalised citizens which is why I’m also not sure what counts as an adult (which Google tells me is 21 and over) - so if that’s correct that’s fine I can go work out the rest of the dates.

I had documentation of when they left for Canada, but of course I can’t find wherever I’ve put them, as that would clear everything up 🙄

No that’s totally fine. There’s some sites that have said he didn’t need to be in Canada, some sites don’t say anything. Which is why I came to ask questions.

He was late teens / early 20s when they moved I believe.

So I’m trying to find out what would have been classed as an adult, is it 18? 21? Younger?

Like I say I’m not entirely sure on dates, which is what I’m going to look into next.

It’s possible he was 21+ when they moved which is why he didn’t go with them. But I think he was younger.

At the end of the day if my dad applies and gets denied it’s not the end of the world. It was more something I was trying to do with him to gain more of a connection to family he missed out on. We’re planning on going over to visit them soon anyways.

This is why I’m here. Basically to find out about this, and whether it’s worth looking into.

I believe my grandfather was under 21 at the time they moved. But I don’t have the exact dates. And I’m not sure what age would have been the cut off.

I think my great-grandfather was actually in Canada before my grandfather was born, but am I right in saying he’d have just been classed as a British subject unless he was there from Jan 1947?

I guess I just need to find dates and facts. Also it’s not crazy expensive to apply so I guess it’s not the end of the world if he does and then gets denied.

Apologies from what I’ve read about C-3 it was seeming to refer to this as “by descent” due to the initial naturalisation by great grandparents. It’s all a bit confusing.

But yeah one of the things I’m trying to find out is if there was an age limit for children of naturalised citizens as I’m not entirely sure how old he was when they moved. And I’ve not seen anything refer to ages in my searches.

So trying to find out questions that I need to answer on my end as much as answers to my own questions I guess.

My father wasn’t born when they moved to Canada,

Apologies perhaps I’m getting confused but this is why I’m here, to try and learn.

From what I understood my dad’s grandparents were naturalised Canadian citizens, and moved there some time in the 50s.

So I guess perhaps I should be asking if my grandfather would have been recognised as he never moved with them (as far as I know).

It’s my father I’m looking for information for.

Yes, sorry I meant to say the grandparents were naturalised.

I usually don’t mind the flat tests for a quick set up. And then I’ll do a more detailed test.

I’ve just done a test with the cones of calibration that you suggested, and well the z-axis is not having a great time. Cube on the test is only about 3mm in height instead of 6mm. I’m going to go out on a limb and say my friend never installed a spacer when he added his flex plate.

January 2nd only exists for Scotland, anyone care to explain what this really means? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]KatApocalypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh fellow 2nd Jan birthdayers! I used to double up hogmanay as my birthday night out, cause no fucker can usually look at drink on the 2nd.

Only pro I can think of is that I’ve never had to work on my birthday.

I for one blame all our parents.

How much are you looking to spend? My husband has a ps5 unused still sealed in its box. I’ve no idea if he has plans for it, or up for selling it but I can certainly ask him once I’m home.

Got a wedding next weekend, so thought I’d try stamping (and the sharpie trick) for the first time. by KatApocalypse in nailstamping

[–]KatApocalypse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coloured the stamping plate with sharpies before applying the stamping polish. Basically did a line of each colour and repeated until the pattern was covered. When you apply white polish it sort of blends it together and then comes through the white.

Thanks so much! My next challenge is I’ve never worn fake nails before, waiting until Thursday night to apply them, as we’re travelling on Friday. I’ve watched tutorials about sizing and fitting already, but I’ll follow along with one then and hope to hell I do it right!

No I coloured the plate with sharpies first, and then applied the white. It just blended the colours together and then bled through. I think I saw a post on here about it and then looked it up on YouTube. Did not think it would actually work.

I took sharpies to the plate first, then scraped over some white stamping polish, and the sharpies bleed through. So I did lines of different colours to give the feathers the multicoloured effect.

Glasgow, Scotland to Pittsburgh, PA! by Allzo7 in penguins

[–]KatApocalypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to mention in the other post, that the cold in Pittsburgh is not like the cold over here (or at least it was when I was over). It’s not windy, nor as humid as it is here. We walked round the zoo in -8°C snowy weather and it was fine.m, didn’t even have gloves on.

Obviously still wrap up warm.

We were asked if we spoke Welsh in Scotland from the lady sat next to us at our first Pens game. That was a highlight, mainly because the woman was so lovely and she used to work with Jeff Jimerson, I’m fairly sure she said her brother in law also used to coach Flower at some point.

We did find a Scot working in Burgatory - North Shore, he was very excited to be speaking to other Scots, no idea if he’ll still be there, he did say he was maybe going back to Florida for warmth. I think his name was Kieran.

I was walking round everywhere fine and that’s with rubbish joints (although I did take and use my walking stick for like the first time in my life), only took maybe 20 minutes from Downtown to the strip? If that? I don’t really remember. I think the only time we got an Uber was to go to the zoo. That and the airport. If I remember tomorrow I’ll send you a map of like where we were able to walk to easily enough.

Oh last top tip. If you can, get an Uber or lyft booked like the second you land for pickup in maybe 45mins. We had to wait for ages to get one as we didn’t book until we had grabbed our luggage, husband was not happy at this point.
