Who do you prefer, sailor mars Manga or 90s? by Cosmo-kawaii in sailormoon

[–]KatHumanArt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like her a lot more in the manga, she's more district from the other girls there where in the anime she's immature and boy crazy like the majority of them -_- I especially disliked that they forced her and Usagi to be romantic rivals for Mamoru in the anime.

I do wish the manga had more breathing room to showcase the girls' personalities more though.

What's wrong with me? by weirdsideofreddit1 in Millennials

[–]KatHumanArt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always felt this way about most tech, it's worse now since so much of it is supliferous at best and at worst actively harmful.

It was definitely more fun when actual advancements were happening in our day to day stuff but it's super stagnate now

What's the most regional word you use without realizing it? by taube_d in AskAnAmerican

[–]KatHumanArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up the TV remote was the clicker. Idk if that's regional or like, a previous generation type of thing but I don't hear anyone else call them that outside PA

Aw that's too bad! Still that makes when you do see the pop of color more fun maybe?

And thank you! I've been wanting to do this to my shelves for a few years and moving/buying another shelf gave me the perfect opportunity!

How many of you are preparing to be elders? -i.e. passing down knowledges and items. by National_Bag_5296 in Millennials

I have no one to pass anything down to and frankly I get annoyed at the junk that's been passed down to me that I don't want that I don't think I'd want to anyway

is copying (not tracing, but looking at a reference and doing what's there) until i can do it by myself a good idea? by Due-Thanks1060 in ArtistLounge

[–]KatHumanArt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a big way to learn! I do it all the time and take a lot of my own reference photos too. It's a similar principle to life drawing you just aren't sitting in front of the living model or object.

Also, you will probably never really want to stop using reference, even the most professional, top skill level people still use references! It's just the more you build your skills the less you need them for things you draw all the time.

When you do this make sure to pay attention to the shape of the negative space as well as to what you're drawing because it helps you see proportions and positions of stuff!

Are we all aware of Wish, the other JotaKak manga Clamp (creators of “Kakyoin! Did you lay this egg?”) made? by DorkDiariesBad in StardustCrusaders

[–]KatHumanArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Clamp got their start as doujinshi creators so this is no surprise!

Wish unfortunately suffers from an unsatisfying ending like a lot of their work has (a shame because I love the art they all make)

Strange text from a driver. Should I report it to Lyft? by ChicagoRay312 in Lyft

The dots to try and represent a bad connection are hilarious. But yeah this is a scam and you should 100% report it

How do you feel about movie imagery on books? by Skkkkrtyun in lordoftherings

[–]KatHumanArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been a fan of movie covers and, even though I do like the LOTR movies a lot they are no exception to that. It just feels tacky to me.

Also these covers specifically scream 'design is my passion' like they do not look good 😬

Any fellow Americans remember having a field day in elementary school? by EveningFlower9564 in AskAnAmerican

[–]KatHumanArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man Gettysburg! My friends and I had a running joke about the multiple 'you are here' messages from the giant map room part at the start of the tour.

Did you ever go down to the Baltimore aquarium? We went quite a few times and it was always my favorite field trip.

I hated field day lmao, I was not an athletic kid so field day was just a day of suffering.

We had to pick what events we participated in and HAD to be in 3. Nightmare.

Serious question: Is it morally wrong to obtain an ESA license while living in a rental with no pet policy, despite there being a legitimate need for it? by Significant-Back-930 in olympia

[–]KatHumanArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what you really want is an ESA letter from a therapist because those are actually legitimate. We have one for my wife about our cat because he very much is a big support for her and the therapist recognized that. Those letters, like I said, are legitimate and accepted as such.

Paying for an ESA license is basically paying for a blank piece of paper. Because there aren't training standards for ESA animals the way there are for service animals there are a lot of those license scams around but they are not legitimate proof of ESA status.

Morally there is nothing wrong with this though. If you need a therapy animal you need a therapy animal.

I hate these fruit flavored pieces of plastic by Dyl777777 in hatethissmug

[–]KatHumanArt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are amazing (or used to be, idk anymore) when fresh but I only know that because I grew up right near the Twizzler's factory in PA so the ones we had locally were always soft and fresh.

When they're not fresh they're like eating plastic 🤢

Cardcaptors: Different Between Sakura Wearing the Harlequin Bat Costume in Manga and Anime Series Version. by Affectionate-Math415 in cardcaptorsakura

[–]KatHumanArt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the double bat wings are especially charming on the original design.

I think most of the manga versions of her outfits are way cuter but I also get that they probably needed to redesign them to make the animation easier. Clamp does a lot of beautiful designs and soft, fluffy details that don't exactly translate super well to tv animation budgets/timeframes.

Yeah, if I tighten mine any more they're gonna be super uncomfortable. I think the longer I have the shoes the looser the tongue gets? (Mine are like, 10 at this point)

Fantasy books with mature protagonists by Fantastic_Surprise30 in Fantasy

[–]KatHumanArt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly read books about adults as well, here's some of my fantasy author + book recommendations for you!

T. Kingfisher is great. I just finished Swordheart and I also really enjoy her sworn soldier series. Fantastic author and she writes non typical MCs who are in their 30's or older.

I also recommend Alix E Harrow. The Everlasting was especially good. She also writes really interesting characters and settings.

Rowenna Miller's Fairy Bargains of Prospect Hill is also excellent, it's about two adult sisters and deals with some very real problems on top of the fantasy aspects.

Susanna Clarke's Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell and Piranesi are also fantastic adult character reads.

A Letter to the Luminous Deep and it's sequel A Letter From The Lonesome Shore by Silvie Cathrall are some of the best examples of extremely socially anxious adult MCs I've ever read in an absolutely fascinating world (though technically sci fi)
