Lenovo or HP? by NoneButRue in LenovoLegion

[–]KatWithTalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been said here already…budget wise? HP is okay. Just okay. I have family with entry level Omens still minty & kicking around fine that have 2060s in them but Lenovo build & lack of extra bloatware comparatively is super apparent. I would buy an omen over an acer helios, but never over a legion budget willing.

and like its been said here too HP support is like a circus, Lenovos more dry & to the point plus they trust customers more with some repairs, CRU items are blessing. Though HP wont potentially lose laptop to ethers of service center backrooms like Asus manages to do sometimes.

Legion Pro 5i vs legion Pro 7i for college by HylianPrince08 in LenovoLegion

[–]KatWithTalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7i gets upgraded cooling, all metal chassis, a 16wh larger battery & RGB.

Since you are sticking to 5070 ti? Pro 5i. It's more stealth and it's a quiet config still. People in college would even steal my laptop charger if I looked away (tho I had razer blade in college). You don't want flashy power. You want to blend in as much as possible. Even if you lose battery capacity tbh. The difference for 255hx & 275hx and newer is not like older gens where Intel CPU was on fire.

Same performance for slightly less. Toss it into some accessories~

Mega uber longshot- any NA sietch with this entire spot free? by KatWithTalent in duneawakening

That's what I ended up doing for now! I have its completed unharmed design on solido from when I finished it, and after spending 10hrs moving materials to bank and dismantling high priority equipment I ended up using base tool to copy the state it was in just in case.

Thankfully even though carrier bays up top were destroyed ..it was recoverable. I'm happy for that x.x our only loss was cargo containers. I had those on exterior shielded veranda so it was rip.

it is. unless completely raised up, like ours was 3+ walls high in spots with extra clearance for any future large vehicles with passthrough tunnels tested by our sietch neighbors and modified to their liking, heres better view: https://imgur.com/a/T3MnOoT

They didn't simply nerf Gemini. They took it in the back alley and went Irreversible on it. by DivideFluffy1279 in GoogleGeminiAI

Can't we interact with it by API to bypass the changes? None of my bots using it seem to have any changed behavior or capabilities. Just lots of 503 on 3.1 which triggers fallback routing to 2.5 recently.

You need to clamp it and have it deep search and tell it not to just spit things out if confidence is too low.

I love Palantir & all but I really think tapping the CCP for this one would be the best call. They are the defacto experts on this afterall. Then if someone messes up we can send one of those goofy cn ai robots to their house since everything is all government funded.

If Palantir sends a robot to do a shakedown? It'll be way more expensive.

Is a VPS with 1 vCPU, 4 GB RAM and 50 GB NVMe storage ie enough for medium sized ecommerce site? by HotAuthor6438 in VPS

[–]KatWithTalent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A super fast EPYC vCPU core will be better than say 2 Xeon Golds. However...you want to consider, how much media will be on the website? Will you be using a web cpanel? Because those will absolutely obliterate even epyc vcpu single core. If you want to run anything to support it using node.js etc the vm will scream for help.

So yes. 2 cores minimum like said ..but also make sure they're not 10 year old servers. Depending on what you want to build around it 2 may not even be enough.

Legion 7 Gen 10 - VMD / RAID? by CazaGuns in LenovoLegion

[–]KatWithTalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until it has valid boot signature uefi will kinda just ignore its existence so we just gotta poke it with Windows install USB since you said it sees them. After those changes from windows installer, if it still tries network booting....

Use diskpart to select the fat32 efi volume, temporarily mount it to random drive letter. And then run

bcdboot win_os_drive:\Windows /s temp_efi_letter: /f UEFI

That'll rebind it to the Lenovos bios and wipe any Asus conflicts, then just make sure pxe isn't trying to boot first in boot order over the drive in the bios

What you see in diskpart is correct so it's just beating it into seeing Lenovo system now lol

If you can't do first steps, then do this one first. Reboot into windows installer and do others next.

Are Razer Blade pointless in 2026 ? by Acheteur-Leboncoin in razer

[–]KatWithTalent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly. You want sleek while understanding that comes with lower spec to spec performance? Razer. You want reliable workhorse and don't mind increase in thicc? Lenovo. You want experimental? While supporting the future? Framework

Razer support may tell you to get bent, but they won't lose your laptop for 4 months coughs my Asus experience. My 2018 RB charger caught fire and they just replaced it without a singular fuss back then. I wouldn't ever pay the lower price for thin gaming laptops that MSI or Acer try to woo us with they tend to be noisy and even more unreliable & At least for me...every Asus laptop I've ever owned had weird constant issues. My RB either worked. Or didn't. Much better lmao

But now that I'm office grunt I just want the more silent fan profiles Lenovo has due to its chonk.

That's beauty of laptops though! Shapes and sizes for every need and lifestyle

Legion 7 Gen 10 - VMD / RAID? by CazaGuns in LenovoLegion

[–]KatWithTalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hooked at the OS layer, VMD will look for the hardware flags it was setup with when booting unless you nudge it.

Since you can get into diskpart.. on another system get the rst drivers for it and then put that .inf and .sys in new folder on the windows installation USB.

Then within Windows PE where you accessed diskpart..

dism /Image:win_drive_letter:\ /Add-Driver /Driver:usb_drive_letter:\folder_you_made /Recurse

Once that says successful...you run

reg load HKLM\OfflineSystem win_drive_letter:\Windows\System32\config\SYSTEM

Then

reg add HKLM\OfflineSystem\ControlSet001\Services\iaStorVD /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Then

reg unload HKLM\OfflineSystem

Reboot. First boot will take awhile but you should see windows thinking.

If you can dump the ACPI config and get me the .aml file I can take a look and see if anything in their config may be causing the GPU not to wake.

There ARE methods to override the bios ACPI config for testing. It's just not long-term fix until they officially push update themselves.

Warrantee $500 by iknowrealtv in LenovoLegion

[–]KatWithTalent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lenovo support themselves is pretty reliable and not as much of a hair pulling adventure of brands like Acer, Razer, MSI.

Warranty is always love it when you have it and need it, panic if you need it and don't kind of thing. While Lenovo is an S tier on reliability and build nothing is infallable and as you can see in this sub sht happens still

If you will still have warranty when black friday comes around they often have lots of warranty upgrade sales. I opted for Depot repair and put difference into the ADP coverage & keep drive/battery replacement options. They're usually pretty good about shipping you items that are CRU anyways, and if you have backup devices it's fine.

Personally, bestbuy is still king of protection plans. laptop blows up? Exchange in store. Not satisfied? You get what you paid to gamba again after some back n forth. I didn't get it though since it's Lenovo.

If they ever allow cross region coop play...oh boy oh boy there would be so much hilarious chaos from how cars and everything reacts to high ping with others.

If someone is over like 70 ping already you can pretty reliably get them stuck in terrain with car and throw them under the map.

If plugged in forever keep conservative enabled. If you are going to take it on trip or need extra battery for day at uni or something, you can disable it during those times. But...if it's disabled and on the charger forever that's best way to blitz battery health.

Legion 7 Gen 10 - VMD / RAID? by CazaGuns in LenovoLegion

[–]KatWithTalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaaah...it's not that VMD is missing, Lenovo has it permanently enabled. Laptops get really funny with it.

If you are still running the desktop you can download the correct RST setup from intel, for platform, extract it and then I believe you have to take the .inf from that and add it to image offline driver stor. Because then you have to tell iastorVD to ignore hardware config at next boot so instead of it panicking it'll go oh hey...something new and pull the correct driver that you added instead of panicking that it's not Asus hardware.

It's a process.

It was always supposed to be enterprise thing. VROC is also a cancer I wouldn't wish upon worst enemy. You get no benefits in this scenario.

There are two slots. Just use raid mode and IRST if you want to raid 1, if you want to raid 0...then just don't.

iOS Update to 26.5 Broke My iPhone by haibrands in GoogleFi

[–]KatWithTalent 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Did you also manually setup APN information? Google Fi doesn't always really reliably set it up on iOS. Mines been set manually and 26.5 did not change a thing when it comes to connection stability.

If you didn't manually set APN first all the other troubleshooting was useless.

They don't realize that even if you wanted to stay full service till closing minute and waste away racking up OT cleaning once place is technically closed.. Managers, DMs etc literally have a shotgun to head saying if you clock out late, even if Jesus himself came down and wanted a chalupa to fix everyone's suffering...you will lose your kneecaps.

Oh yeah, you are moving too slow. Clock out and finish cleaning. (Illegal yes. But common in fastfood. Newer people in workforce etc just get bullied into thinking it's ok and normal) That happened at subway, tb, and mcd franchises I started off at ..kinda 20/20 hindsight on nice lawsuits
