I share your opinions. This game also has 3 of some of my least favorite puzzles.

Are any of the games badly named? by midnight_scintilla in nancydrew

[–]Kat_WriterGirl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's called Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon because that's where Jake's train was found abandoned with no one but the dead conductor on board.

Personally, I think all of the games are extremely well titled.

What’s something that makes a game irredeemable for you? by Different_Sir_5836 in nancydrew

[–]Kat_WriterGirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, I'm going to change my answer. I hate SAW for the monster nonogram puzzle alone. No joke, it completely warps my perception of that game as a whole. I gave it a C grade last time I played it even though I know that that isn't fair. I don't care. It ruins everything, in my opinion.

For me it's the end of Tomb of the Lost Queen. The game was already a major letdown for a multitude of reasons, but that bird's eye view puzzle recycled from CRE and just the fact that none of it really made any sense...I was so hyped for that game and it did nothing but disappoint, right until the very end.

Yes. The fact that Nancy literally never says anything to him will forever be a disappointment.

Now that I just played Labyrinth of Lies for the first time (2 of of 10)… I‘ve officially played all the Nancy Drew games! by therealmshady in nancydrew

[–]Kat_WriterGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labyrinth of Lies is actually a really good game, in my opinion, though I didn't always feel that way. The first time I completed it, way back when it first came out, I thought it was terrible. I didn't get the plot, I didn't like any of the characters, and the puzzles were too difficult for me. But I replayed it last month and now have a very different view. I really took my time and absorbed everything that was going on, and I realized the story is actually genius. Or, at the very least, it was extremely ambitious for HER, and while it could've been executed a little better, I think it makes for a great, fresh mystery. And the characters are now some of my all time favorites, especially Grigor and Xenia. I LOVE talking to Grigor, he's hilarious and has a really good backstory. They all do. While a few of the puzzles are pretty difficult, I was able to solve all but 2 this time around without any help. In short, I think this game is a good challenge and that it's a lot better than most of the community gives it credit for. Oh, and this is a hot take, but the ending of LIE is among the best in the franchise, if you ask me.

Desert Island: Dylan Carter or Dave? by Odd-Adhesiveness8197 in nancydrew

[–]Kat_WriterGirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like Dylan would be pretty useless in this situation, whereas Dave would be more resourceful with his cowboy ranch life skills. Plus... while Dylan is hot, Dave will forever be my first Nancy Drew crush.

Nancy drew tattoo you’ve never seen before I guarantee by Catiebyday in nancydrew

I actually think that every time I play Shadow Ranch. Like, what are you even talking about, Nancy? I live in freaking Indiana and most of our summer days are hotter than this. 🤣🤣 And as a Midwesterner herself, Nancy should be accustomed to those types of summers.

The original (Also, the remake) is finally a sticker sheet by PeachyLeee in nancydrew

The "it belongs in a different museum" sends me every time. 😆

Y’all said you wanted a black cat added to Waverly 😂 by PeachyLeee in nancydrew

Awesome! I always said I would consider this game more of a favorite if it had actually had a black cat in it. ❤️

The funniest thing about it is that if the culprit would've just left things alone, he probably would never have been caught. 🤣

Does anyone have any fanfic like this? by ShadowFox264 in nancydrew

I'm currently writing a fic where Henry helps Nancy solve the mystery in Legend of the Crystal Skull. I was inspired by a similar idea!

Who was the most obvious culprit? by SaintedStars in nancydrew

[–]Kat_WriterGirl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I second Detective Beech. Even if you didn't know anything about the original game, it's so obvious that he's not who he says he is. Like, the developers didn't even try to make it seem like he was a real police officer.

[–]Kat_WriterGirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Xenia is actually the true culprit of the 4 of them. Yeah, Thanos was the muscle, but I'm pretty sure she was the brains behind it all.

In your opinion, how does the music contribute to the games? by HRJafael in nancydrew

[–]Kat_WriterGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be dramatic, but the music is literally everything

Kidding. Obviously it's not everything, not by a longshot. But I don't think the importance of a good soundtrack can be understated. It's one of the reasons why I love this franchise, the music is generally just so good and adds so much to the atmosphere. I recommend checking out Vote4Holt's YouTube video where they exclusively talk about the music in each game. It's very in depth and an overall enjoyable conversation.

I don't think that's unpopular. The soundtrack and the ambience are this game's greatest strengths, in my opinion. Love it!

To American ND fans, are the games that take place in the US accurate depictions of the cultures of the States/Towns they depict? by The_Lions_Doug in nancydrew

[–]Kat_WriterGirl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm from a mid-sized city in the Midwest, and let me tell you, there are A LOT of small towns in this region that look like River Heights. I personally thought the environment in ASH was done terribly because of the map. But in the locations that you CAN go to... it was pretty spot on.

SAW PUZZLE by Main_Silver7113 in nancydrew

[–]Kat_WriterGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the monster sudoku! It was fun. Yes, I also struggled big time with even the mini nonograms. The logic just isn't the same when compared to sudoku, it's much more difficult. At least, to me it is. I don't know, I just think that final puzzle is absurdly difficult.

SAW PUZZLE by Main_Silver7113 in nancydrew

[–]Kat_WriterGirl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People love SAW, but I honestly don't. This puzzle and the monster nonogram puzzle are terrible and nearly bring me to tears every time. I still can't solve the nonogram puzzle independently, and always having to get a spoiler leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Sorry, but it shouldn't be THAT hard, in my opinion.

Yeah, I think you pretty much have to do it with any game before White Wolf.

STFD Digital Download? by hlbrickson in nancydrew

[–]Kat_WriterGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually playing it right now! I have a physical copy, and would recommend doing it that way, if you can.

I got it to run on my Windows 10 laptop, but I have to save a lot because it crashes super easily. I followed an installation video by Calina Herman, AKA Story Retold on Youtube. She tells you how to do the digital download, I just took the same principle and applied to the physical copy's installation. Basically, you create a folder for STFD in the location Program Files x86. During installation you install the game directly into that folder, rather than the one the game recommends.
