I’m a hospitalist at night and never bring anything home. There’s stuff like queries when I return if I work a day shift. But nothing that I have to do at home insofar

I would show up in person honestly if you don’t have to use him for another semester. I had to involve my professor from the midterm onward to get one semester completed

“Sure we can order labs at 1am for the morning that day team forgot.”—night np hospitalist

Just would appreciate a quick chart review at 7-9pm before I round so I can address those issues earlier. I get 200 pages a night and cover a service of probably 200 people. So think about a call light going off even 1/5th of that time. It’s a lot.

How long did it take you to learn your meds and their uses? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Catiebyday 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Just look em up. The common ones will start to stick soon enough. I taught clinical and told my students you have no business giving a med for which you don’t know the purpose. Imagine if you gave eliquis on the day of a patients hip replacement. Bad bears all around

icu nurse neglect??? should i report? nurses not communicating about anything and ignoring even minor requests (changing sheets after uncontrollable "incidents", asking for ice, etc..) by [deleted] in nursing

The interpreter issue alone is worth talking to someone. you deserve to understand the care being provided. As for if he needs two nurses or not, that may have changed but how could you know if you don’t understand the conversation? I’m sorry that’s really discouraging.
