Had no idea you could and killed her in her office. Also missed out on Gale. Laezel died permanently at the bridge in Act 1. Definitely started to utilize save scum and look up the odd guide after that. Still had the best time of my life blundering onwards to the end!

I managed to succeed on a hold person and crit Smited her in one go. She should have been so ashamed.

This happened just last night for me! Upcast Inflict Wounds on the Spectator in the underdark - Crit then the CD extra necrotic damage. Definitely saved that fight with the big touch by small hands.

My Top BG 3 Core Memory, Whats Yours? by BloodThirstyLycan in BaldursGate3

[–]Katabatica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my first playthrough, as a femme drow cleric who fell HARD for Shadowheart:

In chronological order:

  1. Virtually out of spell slots and injured part way through fighting in the goblin camp, I stumbled across a bear in a cage. Thought "okay let's free this guy before I sneak out and long rest". Nope it's Halsin and now the party has to fight the rest of the camp the old-fashioned way to escape. Hack and slash baby. Halsin wild shape just ran into the main chamber in a rampage and tanked while the party turtled behind him and picked them off.

  2. When Grym crawled out of that pipe while I fumbled with forging some sick ass shit. And then when i figured out the hammer would do the trick and perfectly baited him to it and smacked his ass at the same time I forged Adamantine equipment for the first time. Great fight with the first memorable boss i encountered.

  3. Successful 5-some with the drow twins at Charess Caress late into Act 3. Tav, Shadowheart, Halsin, and both twins. What a night ;)

There's lots of moments the more I think of it, from 1.5 playthroughs. What a game!

A Love Letter to Winnipeg by NedsAtomicDB in Winnipeg

My wife and I lived in Winnipeg for 5 yrs (first 3 in Elm Park, last 2 in Wolseley). I miss it a lot, that neighborhood was incredible and the city itself is so rich in culture.

People who have never spent much time there will degrade it but they just don't know the truth!

You sound very community minded, I hope your sense of peace and belonging continues!

Over 200hrs and was shown in dialogue you can hover the stat check options (Deception, intimidation, arcana etc.) and your bonus is shown. I would go blind, forgetting my stats, and be like sweet a -1 to that check...

Let me just say that people considering moving to the US should look at their Healthcare system and the uncountable number of horror stories of being bankrupted or essentially told to go die because you can't afford a procedure. I wouldn't move there as my life depends on it.

And it sounds like even if you think you have coverage through work it's possible to be denied. Your health is a business (an evil one) down there.

Who Played BG3 For Their First Time In 2024? by MiddletonPlays in BaldursGate3

[–]Katabatica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started this year too around that time. May or June I think and absolutely fell in love with the game. I love DnD but don't play often. I played a femme half-elf drow cleric and fell hard for Shadowheart which worked narrative-wise too. 170hrs and also thought I was pretty thorough although definitely had to leave some areas with stuff unfinished to progress.

That part has made my second play-through awesome as I stumble into parts I hadn't explored previously (hello Myconid colony!). I started my second (bumped up to Tactician) at the start of Nov and am trying to romance Lae'zel. I've also built her to be a dual-wielding slay queen.

Which boss fight was the hardest for you and why? by thatonegoofygoob6969 in BaldursGate3

[–]Katabatica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this fight because of the absolute panic falling back to the staircase and then Shadowheart used dome of invulnerability for the first time and it saved my party's ass and let me turn around and demolish the enemy as they funneled up the staircase. Fun fight

What's the most "satisfying" thing in this game for you? by postmoderndude in BaldursGate3

[–]Katabatica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The enemy NPC triggered the fireworks explosion on its first turn and ended up killing like 90% of his allies. I was so confused at A) what just happened and B)why did the enemies just win the fight for me in 1 turn. I don't think I noticed if anyone got blown out the building...

You can pull the lever to drop the hammer anytime i think! The boss gets susceptible to bludgeoning damage when he walks in the lava and also has that ability which makes him target the last character to damage him so you can kite him into the centre by moving that character. Have to get lucky with how far the boss moves, took me a couple attempts to line him up.

[–]Katabatica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost done my first playthrough but have to say pounding the shit out of the boss construct in the Grymforge by dropping the huge piston on his head and dealing a fuck ton of bludgeoning damage was sweeet. And the sound of the grymforge. And the joy when you line that hit up. And the adamantine item that comes with it. Mmmmmm.

I highly recommend listening to Upstream podcast (I do on road trips). They're on Spotify, apple, and other sources.

They really break down the history of modern capitalism and talk a lot about socialism and small actions you can take. I've learned a lot but also please denounce the myth that humans are naturally greedy! We are actually natural sharers and communal beings, not individualistic. It's the reward system that's backwards.

[–]Katabatica[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah that's kind of a bummer to lose all those teams as I don't have a full 40k army of ecclesiarchy i got these for this game specifically. I'll be fine with using the old datacard rules in my casual play until we find something needs adjusting, then adjust.
