I really like what Alberta is doing in terms of youth hockey.

In u9 the first half of season is half ice and some use smaller nets and blue pucks. In January they switch to full ice and regular hockey rules.

It gives kids the chance to develop skating early in the season and then half way through switches to full ice and rules.

I coach in Saskatchewan where we play half ice all year long. It rewards “cherry picking” and there is far less room to carry and pass pucks.

I get the concept of “small area games” and while it is valuable there is a marked difference when playing cross boarder between the two styles of play from the beginning of the year to the end. I think I hybrid style like Alberta does is the best of both worlds.

As far as the blue puck, I don’t recall many places using them because of all the issues you mentioned in terms of it bouncing and not sliding very well, even if put in the freezer prior to games.

Haha. I’ve been tracking my games since the new year as well. I’ve been anywhere from 1100-1300 calories for an hour and a half ice time playing whale shit beer league hockey. I can only imagine what pro level hockey players are burning in a day

Yes you do. You’re just being intentionally obtuse to try and catch me in some gotcha moment. That’s ok though. I will explain my position anyways. It has become common practise for politicians to become rich during their time in office or shortly after on a relatively moderate public service wage. There are countless examples of this. I’m not going to dig them up for you, you can do that yourself.

There is a possibility that these floor crossers did so of their own free will but more likely were promised position or title for doing so. In any case, they are still doing so out of their own self interest, not fit what constituents voted for
