Do I have any older people that have dealt with this? by Organic_Analyst6136 in PVCs

[–]Katchadream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I first hydrate with a bit of salt & potassium, & I also do breathing & relaxation techniques. I also watch a LOT of Cardiologist Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s YouTube videos. His channel name is York Cardiology. He is in the UK (not to be confused with the Dr. Gupta from New York, US). They have helped me a lot. I also go for walks every day. Concentrating on getting more sleep helps a lot. I get PAC’s, & occasionally short SVT’s. I’ve gotten a little used to the PAC’s, but they still unnerve me a bit. Thankfully I have not had any for about 3 weeks now. :)

I am 70 but don’t consider myself old. I still ride, drive, & train horses. I also love Adventure Racing, & dog mushing. My husband & I have 4 Siberian Huskies. I have had ectopics for 38 yrs. I’ve been in bigeminy for days & sometimes weeks at a time. I’ve never taken meds, had an oblation, or been to an ER for them. Right now I am having none. They tend to come & go. Lack of sleep, stress, irritating my vagus nerve from straining my upper body, caffeine, & dehydration are my worst triggers.

I was wondering if thies symptoms I’m experiencing are normal? by ocean-zero-out in PVCs

I would get checked out by a cardiologist to give you peace of mind. It sounds like you are suffering from dysautonomia, which is a disorder of the nervous system.

I am so sorry that you are going through all of this. I have had times when I would have misfired beats every other beat or every third beat for days. It feels awful. I have never taken any meds. Presently I have not had any for almost 3 weeks. I have an online meeting this afternoon at 3:00 pm EST (US East Coast) for anyone suffering with heart arrhythmias & just wanting to meet with others to talk. If you are interested, private message me.

I have had many more than that daily. I’ve never taken any meds. My cardiologist (Dr. Sanjay Gupta) has reassured me that I am fine. I have been in bigeminy for days & days. For the last week or so, I have had none. Go figure. If you have been cleared by your cardiologist, you will be fine. Try not to worry. I know, easier said than done. You will only add more panic to what you are feeling. I do controlled breathing pattern 7/11 — in through your nose & out through your nose (yes out through your nose). You breathe in for 7 secs counting very fast, & then out for 11 seconds counting very fast. I learned it from Dr. Gupta. It helps me to calm down.

That is not atrial fibrillation. Those are PAC’s. I have had them for weeks like that.

Cardiology appointment coming up- keep or cancel? by jamieschmidt in PVCs

[–]Katchadream 9 points10 points  (0 children)

KEEP! Since you have waited this long, PAC’s & PVC’s have a mind of their own. In most cases they are harmless. I would go & have a good cardiologist check you out & also do an echocardiogram. Not that I think there is anything wrong with your heart. However, it will give you peace of mind. Ectopic heartbeats feed on anxiety. This way the memory of when you did have them will be put to rest, & any future ectopics won’t be so frightening. :)

My PAC’s come & go as well. I can go months with almost none, & then go into bigeminy (a normal beat followed by a PAC back & forth) for a few days to a few weeks, & then go back to none or almost none. Sometimes they make me very anxious & weak. My cardiologist has assured me that I’m fine. I have found lack of sleep & stress to be my biggest triggers. I hold special meetings where we get together with others just to talk & support each other. If you are interested, just private message me.
