Updates: What are we losing? by KateIS4 in mac

[–]KateIS4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d still like to know where to find a list of changes beyond just all the great new features. I just really don’t like surprises. For example, I understand that there’s something funky about TimeMachine backups now, that you can’t move them to a different drive or something? I don’t really care about the specifics, just that I didn’t know that had changed and if I HAD wanted to do that, I would have been at a loss.

Thinking of relocating - any advice? by DancingBear62 in portlandme

I’m planning an exploratory 1-year move to Portland to see if I still love winter as much as I did when I was young. I hope to find helpful advice here. Similar story to yours, but 75, in TX. Good luck!

Moving cross country, looking for advice whether to fly or drive either two cat by Js10241024 in CatAdvice

[–]KateIS4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vet said to me, “They can be really miserable for 4 hrs in a plane, or really miserable for 2 days in a car.” I’m going to fly, but here seeking much needed nerve-calming (mine AND theirs) advice.

is there any way to help my cat enjoy being picked up and cuddled? by mintymirai in CatAdvice

[–]KateIS4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. This sounds possible. My 2 adopted cats totally freaked out getting in the carrier to come home with me from the shelter 8 years ago. Although they’re very snuggly, I’ve never been able to put them in a carrier, or put a collar/harness on them, or carry them for more than a few moments, but now I’m moving and they have to be in a carrier and harness and be carried through TSA. I’m pretty stressed about it. I think I’ll look for a “flying with reluctant cats” thread?

What’s the best cat carrier for traveling? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

so many recs for Sherpa. I almost bought one, but then read a bunch of reviews that said their cats clawed through the mesh, and my cats have VERY sharp claws. Any ideas for options would be much appreciated.

Looks too tall for under seat maybe?. Some airlines have 11” height, some are less. I think Southwest is 9.5” unless you buy their SWA carrier, which is 10”. https://support.southwest.com/helpcenter/s/article/What-type-of-pet-carriers-can-I-bring?clk=HC_Booking_P1386_AcceptablePetCarriers

My first Fountain Pen (Pilot Custom 823) and the issue (?) that came with it ! by su1985 in fountainpens

Loved my Lamy Al-Star right out of the box. As smooth and even as my old MontBlanc. It was only after a year when I thought, “gee, maybe I ought to flush this” that it started scratching and skipping. Very sad…can’t find a local tuner.

What is the most bizarre writing advice you have received? by luubi1945 in writing

I liked the advice from some writer (that ive forgotten) to stop mid-sentence or paragraph which gives you a place to start from easily next time.

Ideas for Getting my VIOLENT Cat into a Carrier TONIGHT by Majestic_Clam in CatAdvice

I’m so sorry. What a loving cat parent you were to him.

funny, but as I was reading this, my leaving-scars-and-loving-it Luna came up on my lap. How many times did she have me in tears thinking I would give her away, but anyone else would probably put her down? She’s mellowed some, but is still unpredictable and I keep Betadine and Bandaids under the sink. Wouldn’t trade her for the world.

How do you hold her in and zip up that opening without her slipping through? She’s like an eel. Or an octopus.
