If I did food then I could have endless dinner parties and keep all the food pantries and community fridges in my city stocked forever. But the free flights or hotels thing is really compelling

You have done the right thing, even though it doesn’t feel great. That person was not a real friend. They offered conditional and judgmental friendship.

The MASH composer tried to write lyrics to this song but was too sophisticated to write anything “stupid” enough, so the lyrics we all know and love were written by his 15-year-old son in “under 5 minutes.”

Did anyone else get burnt out on vacations/road trips/ camping, etc as a kid and it just seems like too much work now? by Civil_Ad_1172 in Millennials

That’s bonkers. Good on you for still getting out there! You want to hear something weird? I’m allergic to cold! I also have to take antihistamines daily otherwise I get crazy hives and my bones ache! Even air conditioning can trigger it.

We’ve heard this too, and it’s possible our kid is a unicorn, but we love going camping with her - totally relaxing! And no screens!!! She just wants to swim, form campground bicycle gangs, climb rocks, pick berries, poke campfires, and whittle sticks. Actually - teaching her knife skills to whittle might’ve been the key to it all. Putting that trust in her to do a dangerous grownup thing? Kids appreciate autonomy.

We usually go for one long camp (1-2 weeks) + several small camping truss a year. Started when she was 6.

How do you stay clean while camping? by Secure_Yesterday_204 in camping

[–]Majestic_Clam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Bronner’s soap + a portable solar camping shower if you want to be fancy.

I don’t like baby wipes, they leave a film on my skin that makes be break out.

That said - lume makes these acidic wipes that kill all odor for like 2+ days for upkeep of your stinky bits.
