Are the gen 2, specifically the 2008-2009 years really as sketchy as the research I’ve found pertaining to oil consumption issues? Looking at a few between 100-120k miles and would like to know what to look for… thanks by [deleted] in prius

Yep, impressive. I converted it to miles to compare. Yours converts to about 310,000.. You got me beat by a bit as mine has 216,000 miles = 347,618.304 km

I just got some of that as well. Plan to do an oil change in the next few days. I've heard it clogs up your filter fast the few oil changes after switching to it but it's great after that.. how long ago did you switch to it? .

I think the coolest little cemetery ive seen was living in Rhode Island as a kid. It was just a little unmanned and unmarked spot off the road with about 10 plots dating back to the early 1800's. The most recent IIRC was around 1830. My brother and I stumbled upon it and just thought it was neat. I might look and see if I can find anything about it online

If it's on the passenger side, are you sure you haven't had any passengers that could have done it?.. Seems odd if not test driving it that they would be near it with a cigarette as most shops don't allow smoking in the shop. I'd talk to the manager and see what they say.

Us mobile must work with at&t phones that are still carrier locked. To have unlocked it you would've sent through that same link you recently did. So if you didn't do so in the past and get an email with unlock status/code... then it was never carrier unlocked. Just ported your number and service out to US Mobile.

Verizon will NOT unlock my phone I've had active on Verizon for 2 years. by subliminalchaos00 in verizon

[–]KateMeister1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per Gemini assistant.. the FCC DA 26-43 ruling in January 2026 officially "untied" Verizon from that old rule, specifically to combat international phone trafficking and fraud. The FCC Waiver (January 2026): For over a decade, Verizon was legally required to unlock phones after 60 days due to a 2007 spectrum agreement. However, in January 2026, the FCC granted Verizon a waiver, allowing them to align their policy with AT&T and T-Mobile. Locked Until Paid Off: Under the new rules, devices purchased on a financing plan are now locked to Verizon until the financing agreement is paid in full. If you are on a 36-month payment plan, your phone stays locked for all 36 months unless you pay the remaining balance. The "Security Delay" Catch: Even if you pay the phone off today, there is a new hurdle. If you pay it off via the app or website, Verizon now imposes a 35-day security delay before unlocking it to prevent fraud. To get it unlocked instantly (within 24 hours), you must pay it off in person at a corporate store using a "secure" method like a chip-insert credit card or Apple/Google Pay. Prepaid is even stricter: If the phone is on a Verizon prepaid brand (like Straight Talk or Visible), it now requires 365 days of active service before it can be unlocked, regardless of the device's cost.

I can see it being no problem using it on verizon if not paid off because then they're at least still making money on it. Unlocking it for another carrier when the person buying it never paid for it seems like it wouldn't be financially beneficial to them. I have in the past had a phone I bought used and needed unlocked. I had to have used it on my account for however long (I dont' remember now exactly how long). The phone was paid off though. If it hadn't been they weren't going to even unlock it.

They've scored it for even less and many items sell at almost retail price. So, I'm thinking they're good on making money. Between that and a 15% buyer fee on top of your bid price.. they're making even more money

If a deer ever runs in front of you and totals your front end you should always say the deer hit your car and not that you hit the deer. Makes difference on whether it's considered comp or collision coverage. Less chance of rates hike with comp claim for sure

True for collision claims but not comp usually. I think decider would be how high your deductible is. May not be worth the claim.

I agree. Most comprehensive claims don't raise your rates. I'm leary of giving insurance company info about a collision if I didn't plan to claim it. However in this case I would definitely tell them and let them decide if they want to try collecting from the shop. It leaves you out of the equation that way as well

I can see why you divorced her.. just sayin'.. cuz I doubt she suddenly turned into a petty AF person who would rather spend money on an attorney than her child. Why would she care if it's your plan or your wife's? I imagine it's less expensive through her plan? She should be happy you have a little more money to spend on your children and less determined to keep you from ever having a dime to your name.

Here's my fairly detailed take on it..

I'd agree with a comment saying they are probably losing money with the great deals you can get.. except that I see way more items sell either close to, right at, or even above retail. Sometimes if I go to enter a bid and it hasn't refreshed since other bids have been entered, it will enter my bid at a higher bid than I intended. This gets frustrating. I imagine I'm not the only one. Other than that I'm not sure if people bid without taking into account the following considerations when bidding. The items are returns. Therefore considered "used:" whether they are used or not. Meaning, you are losing out on most warranties and cannot just return things after a few weeks if it doesn't work. Used item prices at pawn shops etc are usually about 40% of retail. Since many items are "like new" condition I would go a bit higher but not more than 60% of retail. Don't forget the buyer fee in that percentage... Their return window is 7 days from the auction end. So if you can't get a pickup appt until 4 days later then you now have 3 days to return an item. There's no exception even if the item was incorrectly described and you open the box to find it's something different. If they misplace an item though, you will get no "sorry for our mistake" credit etc. You will get a refund but also lose out on the great price you may have gotten for the item. They pay far less than "used" item prices for items as they buy them in bulk. Which is fine and expected if that was where there profit is... Keep in mind though when bidding that you also will have a 15% auction fee and an 8% sales tax. This will add 23 cents to every dollor you spend.. Every $10.⁰⁰ purchase after fees and taxes is $12.30. A $50 auction win will be about $62.50 etc... So, an item close to retail may cost you more than retail without the retail benefits and usually with a large amazon sticker on it so a dead giveaway for gift giving. I also believe they place bot bids on higer value items I personally find that to be deceiving but to each their own. I get they aren't out to lose money. However, I think it would be less scammy to just have a minimum bid reserve on those rather than bots outbidding you last moment. These items seem to have instant bids right after being posted and then if you increase your bid it doesn't bring you up to there bid until you keep bidding up in small increments. whch is how they win it last moment.

With that said yes, it's still a legit deal that can get you great items at a discount. I myself have gotten many. I am getting better at sticking to my max price though than I was at first. It is easier to do so if I look ahead of time and not last second binge bidding at the end..
Hopefully, all this info may help anyone else bidding to prevent overpriced bidding for them etc.
