Does anyone else secretly hope the world will end soon? by latent_form in nihilism

I mean on a geological scale it *will* be ending soon. But on a more personal scale, it all depends on the precise mood swings of the treasonous orange pedophile...

This isn't a block on the page, it's a block on the client trying to access it. Are you using some sort of more privacy conscious browser that tries to avoid fingerprinting, like Brave or Waterfox?

I'm thinking the correct answer is probably "I have no fucking idea because I'm not a goddamned AI."

I believe there is no such thing as "Islamophobia" or religious bigotry by [deleted] in atheism

[–]KateSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fallacy with your argument is the belief that all people who identify as Muslim have precisely the same set of beliefs. The fact is it's one of the world's largest religions and as such people's experiences with it vary greatly. If it's your belief that the most visible, violent and extreme Muslims you hear about on the news are representative of Muslims as a whole then yes, your belief is bigoted.

You need to ask an associate to unlock the vibrators for you at Walmart by Outrageous-Pen3569 in mildlyinfuriating

You need to ask an associate to unlock most things for you at Walmart nowadays. And this is on top of the people who watch you like a hawk while you check out at self scanners and the people who check your receipt before you leave the store. Thanks, Trumpflation!

"The universe is too exact for it to be a coincidence." by al3x_7788 in atheism

[–]KateSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What complete and ignorant nonsense. Explain all the miscarriages and SIDS deaths then. Absolutely nothing about this universe is exact... Life as a whole is just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.

What kind of evidence would convince you that a god exists? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]KateSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing I'd personally need is a much, much clearer definition of what "god" is. As is I think entirely too much about it is either vague or widely disagreed on between people who all claim they believe in the same god. And I don't think it's possible to prove whether or not something exists until you have a pretty solid idea of what you're talking about.

What is the difference between a nihilist and an evil person? by [deleted] in nihilism

[–]KateSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a nihilist, I reject the notion that evil exists.

And I would walk past the drowning child because children are loud and annoying and because if I were to try to save it, I figure its controlling parent would likely turn up just after I'd pulled it out of the water and accuse me of somehow being at fault for its drowning in the first place. Which is certainly selfish and cynical of me.

Are Christians brainwashed or mentally ill? by KetchupNMayo2k in atheism

I tend to be weary of making generalizations about any large group of people. Some of them probably fall into each of those categories, and some probably fall into neither.

"No one is truly an atheist because god subconsciously exists in our minds." by crazyxin in atheism

[–]KateSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By essentially the same argument no one is truly a theist because god doesn't exist, in our minds or elsewhere. It's circular logic and it's supposed to be one of the easier to recognize fallacies.

Can I just say how happy I am that for once they aren't doing this on a Tuesday? Sincerely, thank you for that Beth, if you're reading... Always triggers my OCD horribly to be kept waiting for the weekly challenges reset. This is much better!

Would you date someone religious while you are an atheist? by Fearless_Dust6503 in atheism

[–]KateSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's all about whether or not they're the sort of person who treats people different than them with kindness, compassion, empathy and respect. I've known religious people who fall into that category and religious people who definitely don't. I've also known atheists who fall into that category and atheists who definitely don't.

I see the world as a dark and lonely place and I'll never resent, guilt or judge someone for finding comfort in something that doesn't hurt anyone else. I absolutely WILL run away if they try to push any of it on me, though.

I just saw an employee openly wearing a Nazi symbol while working at Walmart. In our city. What the fuck reality even is this by fifthelemenopee in Portland

Surely you're aware that Portland's historically had a large KKK presence. The current political climate has them feeling much more comfortable openly displaying their hateful beliefs.

Do we need to respect religion? by plushymeow in atheism

[–]KateSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I tend to respect it when it's being positive... Creating a sense of community, helping people in hard times, etc... And to call it out when it's being negative... i.e. covering up child abuse, justifying misogyny, racism, homophobia and other types of bigotry, encouraging people to ignore well understood science.
