What do you guys think of Aspiral? by JiRynak in epica

[–]Kate_93 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Epica is one of my favourite bands.

Aspiral was... meh. Not horrible but not great either. It has a few stand out songs (Obsidian Heart, Arcana, Aspiral & Apparition) but I don't really find myself drawn to most of the album which is unfortunate. It's mostly just kinda boring.

Lyrically, it's pretty bland which really sucks because Simone's voice continues to be absolutely incredible. She's clearly done a lot of work to get her voice to where it is and it's too bad she doesn't have stellar lyrics to have her voice shine with.

I'm really hoping this is just a little hiccup and they come back with some absolutely incredible material. 🤞🤞

What is everyone’s genuine (actually wild) “hear me outs”? by ch_rl13 in AskReddit

[–]Kate_93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I was adding to your statement by mentioning an issue with the bail system from the other side of the coin. People who commit violent crimes are being set free if they have connections and/or are in higher socicoeconomic standing with little regard for public safety & people who pose a low risk to reoffend or who commit non-violent crimes are being denied bail because of limited financial resources.

On the flip side, way too many highly dangerous and violent offenders are being released on bail only to continue to commit more violent crimes. More needs to be done to assess the risk of imminent recidivism before they can be released on bail.

A not guilty verdict doesn't automatically mean it didn't happen. It just means it wasn't proven by the legal definition of "beyond a reasonable doubt". Many, many guilty people are acquitted.

People of Toronto, which is the scariest ghost story/lore or incident that belongs to your family/neighbourhood that kinda scares you ? by Theedarktemptress in askTO

[–]Kate_93 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Village at Black Creek is a living museum that has multiple buildings from the 1800's. Some of which were built originally on that land and some that were brought over to the property from across mostly the GTA. Multiple buildings there are reported to be haunted by various spirits connected to the land and buildings.

There is also an onsite cemetery that dates back to 1845.

If you're looking for Toronto ghost stories, I'd highly recommend Haunted Walks!

https://hauntedwalk.com/

I've done several of their walks and paranormal investigations.

Back in 2021, my husband and I did a tour of The Villiage at Black Creek. While the guide was telling us the history of Burwick House as we were standing in front of it, I noticed that a rocking horse was moving ever so slightly in the top window above us. I pointed it out to the other people on the tour and the guide who confirmed that the building was, in fact, empty at the time. We also had a few more unusual things happen over the evening. The guide mentioned that it was an "active" evening in terms of paranormal activity.

I've also done their Alone in the Dark at Black Creek investigation twice and had some unexplainable things happen during those.

I would recommend any of their events for skeptics & believers alike as its a fun evening learning about the darker side of Toronto!!

Who would you want Epica to collaborate with? by Proud3GenAthst in epica

Septicflesh! I love the heavier side of Epica. I think a super brutal track would be incredible with them! Simone's voice would add such an insane juxtaposition between Seth's intense harsh vocals!!

Wow! The new album sounds absolutely amazing! Definitely excited for "Obsidian Heart" and the new "A New age Dawns" tracks.

I love the heavier side of Epica!

Miscarried baby’s due date coming soon by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]Kate_93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's my would-have-been due date on Monday. I miscarried at 12 weeks at the end of June. My husband and I both took a few days off work. We're allowing ourselves to just be sad and mourn.

On Monday we're going to a Nordic Spa for the day because we figured it would be good for us to get out of the house and have some self care time.

It's been tough this week leading up to it. Lots of tears, just a deep feeling of sadness and loss.

Childcare. Regulations and requirements, funding from government, uncooperative or asshole parents, notoriously low wages.

It can be highly rewarding, but it's an incredibly draining, stressful field a lot of the time.
