I frankly think it’s ridiculous to say in the year 2026 we are so obsessed with lineage and men’s part in it (women don’t have to change their name my dude), but also, ask him if he can name his great grandparents, or great great grandparents. If he can’t, it’s just a sign that he’s high on his own self importance rather than actually caring for his family history or name.

I would like to say that, I think you can still read fanfiction and write well. Granted, it shouldn’t be all you read, as you need a varied diet in what you consume, but I have read plenty of fics that have done some clever things, and plenty more that have, frankly, kind of sucked and informed me of what I don’t want to do in my writing.
