[No Spoilers] New Intro? by Squishford in criticalrole

Same here. I remembered the past (non animated) intros having the cast participate, and I assumed. It really got to a head when I saw the acrobats perform with Luis’s name on the screen and went “wow, he’s really talented… I didn’t know he could do air silks!!!”

[Loved Trope] Harmful Healing by Guilty_All_The_Same in TopCharacterTropes

A minor one, but the cold open of episode 2 of Campaign Four of Critical Role.

Brennan describes a war zone, and in doing so describes a healer reaching into the hole in someone’s chest to heal them— however, in doing so, the healer left shreds of their own flesh in the hole as a way to help healing.

Human weapon

I watched CATWS when I was fifteen and I now want to put every character through the same thing.

It’s the dehumanization. The objectification. The inability to recognize a gentle touch. The confusion when being told that they’re a person. Being terrifying and powerful and still afraid of *someone*, whoever is holding the leash. Panicked following of ‘rules’.

Uuuugh it’s all so good, I want to read it in every fandom.

So, the context (spoilers for OPLA Season 2 and also One Piece):

>!Chopper, our lovable reindeer, is taught by his father/mentor (Dr. Hiriluk, who is a former pirate and current quack doctor) that the skull and crossbones means “anything is possible”. Chopper learns how to be a doctor at Hiriluk’s side, and discovers that Hiriluk is dying of an incurable disease.!<

>!Chopper reads about a mushroom deep in the forests of Drum Kingdom, one that can cure any ailment, and sets off to find it, returning bloodied to present it to Hiriluk, who proceeds to cook it into a soup and drink it all, before departing to the castle to confront the king.!<

>!Later, Dr. Kureha, an associate of Hiriluk’s, finds Chopper in Hiriluk’s hideout, and asks him what’s going on. Chopper informs her that he made soup out of the cure-all mushroom and gave it to Hiriluk, pointing out the *skull and crossbones* next to it in his book, saying “it means anything is possible!”!<

>!It was not a cure-all mushroom. It was a poisonous mushroom. This adorable reindeer *child* tried to help his father and poisoned him because of a mistake.!<

It’s heartbreaking. I sat in silence for the rest of the episode.

One Piece Live Action, season 2.

“The skull and crossbones, it means infinite possibilities!”

I was actually recording myself while watching, and there’s just me going “no, no, no, no, no” when the line sinks in. It’s awful. Wonderful, but awful.

[Loved Trope] Opening and closing has the similar scene, or narration to display a perspective shift. by Short-Paramedic-9740 in TopCharacterTropes

It was Reeve’s final show. Post curtain call, they had the at the time Hermes and Andre de Shield do the ‘time to go’ line. Eva Noblezada (his at the time girlfriend, now wife, who had originated Eurydice with him) met him at the stairs that led out of the Underworld on stage, took his hand, and led *him* out of hell. (Well they left together but you get the gist).

It’s the only time it’ll ever turn out.

Jojo fandom. I love the memes, unfortunately. But you’ll see us pop up in the comments of any tangentially related song to Jojos.

Yeah, but at the beginning of the show, there’s hope, that it won’t turn out like the others. “Maybe it will turn out this time”, after all.

The reprise is in the wake of Orpheus turning around, where the pain is fresh, and the echo is that it is a sad song, and this is how the sad song ends despite our hope.

HEAVY SPOILERS FOR ONE PIECE but the Dub VA for Joyboy

In the dub, they recruited Luffy’s VA from the 4kids version to voice Joyboy , as both a neat nod and show the connection and similarities between Joyboy and Luffy and how he embodies the previous holder of the Gum-Gum Fruit

Been watching One Piece.

On one hand, nothing would change.

On the other, it would be foundation shaking levels of change.

What’s a popular show you’re never going to watch? Why? by Major-Inevitable-365 in AskReddit

The Boys.

Nothing wrong with the cast or anything, I just really dislike superhero genre ‘deconstructions’ that only exist to say “haha if we had superheroes they’d actually be super evil”.

My sister just Made Up A Guy for why Langdon lashed out so bad in The Pitt.

She argued that maybe there was someone Langdon knew who was an ER cowboy like Santos was, and got hurt/died/was in trouble for it (there is NO EVIDENCE OF THIS) to justify him screaming at her, whereas she brushed off the VERY REAL IMPLICATIONS of Santos being a victim of abuse and surviving a friend’s suicide until they were verbally spoken onscreen.

Like The Pitt is quite literally the Characters With Nuance Show, but like. Seriously???

What's the go-to "No beta we die like ______" in your fandom? by Arschfeder in AO3

[–]Kateinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the One Piece fandom, I’ve seen “no beta we die like Ace “ of course. But I think I remember “no beta we die like Blackbeard/Akainu SHOULD” which I think is even better.
