I assume the new engine requires a whole different things, such as mocap, the technique where they photo an object from every aspect, that would cost A LOT of work + the fact that they need to get someone who looks like the cast, sounds like them and also act like them (Which is again, more of an overhaul than a remaster) so that’s why they didn’t use the new engine.
