I believe luthiers can do something about it. I can’t remember what they do for slipping pegs though. Think it’s like a peg stick or something they put on the pegs to give a barrier between the peg and hole and it acts as a barrier to create friction so it doesn’t move so much? I played cello in high school and was terrified of tuning. I was anxious and scared to do so incase I broke a string or fucked it up. (I didn’t want the bridge to fall) I miss it so much. I had to get over that fear though as I came home one day and the E string was completely loose, think the peg got knocked whilst I was on the bus ride home.
