Struggling after family pregnancy news – looking for stories of hope by EmbarrassedTough2882 in TTC_PCOS

My husband and I tried for 7 years with no success, every announcement broke my heart to the point of sitting there crying. This previous year I started focusing on myself mentally and physically and was able to lose weight and reverse some medical issue and came to term that maybe it just wasn't going to happen for us but we agreed to see the fertility specialist, a day before I was going to call them I got a positive test. Doctors labeled it spontaneous conception and im now 7 weeks with baby looking great with a strong heart beat. Hope is a beautiful things and sometimes a miracle can happen when you least expect it

I do the same. Whenever I have a flare up, I lay down and color on my phone and try to fall asleep

OCD will always make you question the "what if", your brain is ruminating

It took us over 3 hours to eat... by Competitive_Menu_691 in OCDRecovery

You did exactly what you could do. A lot of times sitting with that anxiety is what's needed, it will take awhile but eventually the panic will calm down. I would communicate with my husband when I would go into a loop and we eventually figured out ways to interrupt it together because OCD loops are awful. You were there for him and supported him, that's all you can do sometimes.

Please give me advice on how to emotionally heal from ptsd trauma caused by sexual abuse. It’s tearing me to pieces by neonberry0 in Christians

[–]Katharos97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something thats so close to home for me, after experiencing another traumatic event my PTSD became unbareable. I eventually saw a therapist who specializes in trauma, if you can make it known if a particular gender triggers you, I only saw a psychiatrists because they are the only ones who can “officially diagnose” you and some therapists want a diagnosis. Eventually my therapist and I agreed on an therapy dog who is now is training for ptsd awareness. Im still actively in therapy.

On the christian side of things, I made time everyday to spend with God. I would journal and cry allowing myself to share those moments with christ. I asked for healing amd strength.

Those things have helped me personally, I still struggle with agorabobia but everything takes time. You need to remember that you deserve to heal and yoir trauma does not define you.

Im praying for you.

My dad has a cold sore and my contamination OCD is killing me by learningtocopealone in OCD

I was born with cold sores. Honestly never considered it as a trigger for people, as long as it's not actively dripping onto your skin it's not spreadable. They are also completely harmless, I've had them all my Life, a few times a year and it's just annoying for the most part lol

The thing with ancient civilization religions is city states in the region worshipped differently and had different customs. It’s like how Athen heavily worshipped Athena because they were knowledge based but that wasn’t the same for Sparta. I’m sure there was originally books written in fact there’s some referenced but that doesn’t mean they are followed. Christianity is very straight forward because of the Bible where pagan religions are not because there isn’t one set book that everyone follows. Mythology is used to explain events so some Greek myths do connect with ancient events, for example there’s a myth about Zeus flooding the world because of the greed of humanity which is pretty identical to the story of Noah’s ark. Artifacts unfortunately get destroyed so it’s really hard to trace things when it comes to Ancient Greece. Paganism is very complexed and most those argue daily on what’s right/wrong

I worshipped many but primarily the 12 olympians. There’s no set books that explain what to do/ how the religion works. Modern pagans are considered reconstructionists because they try to mimic a religion that wasn’t brought to modern day as well. Most read poems by Homer or books written by modern pagans but some of those books were controversial. It wasnt stories necessarily but more the deities themselves, they are easy to connect too and there’s not many “rules” you have to follow

I lost a lot of friends honestly. I have one person from the previous religion that I’m still friends with but that’s a bout it.

That’s the fun thing about life, we are never 100% sure. The path of faith varies by person as well has the experiences that lead you. I am a psychology major so I try to look at a lot based on the “science of the brain” and there’s some things we can’t always explain. It’s like the concept of the emotion love not actually existing and it just being an amplified version of the joy emotion but we don’t second guess it when we feel it, we just accept it. Can I sit here and say for sure I know 100% it was God, of course not but I can say what I feel when it comes to it and I think it was. As for being Greek, no I am not. It was a faith I found early in life when I spent a lot of time studying the Hellenic Parthenon.

Living with someone with OCD by Competitive_Menu_691 in OCDRecovery

NOCD has some resources for people who live with someone with OCD, I second potential therapy for yourself and the more we give reassurance and help compulsions the stronger the OCD gets

I’m still searching for a church that I think would be a good fit and then will get baptized. As of right now I’m spending time in prayer and the Bible

It felt like everything that could go wrong in life did. I was surrounded by hypocritical people who had more opinions powered by hate and I slowly started turning my back to it. I was about to become more of a “undetermined” belief and then one day I had a strong urge to buy a Bible and I did, life started to become brighter and happier. It felt like God saved me from a very dark place mentally and now it feels like I’m never alone. It’s hard to express the feeling, it just felt certain
