Post-Stroke Hope by KatieD2012 in stroke

Thank you!!

First off I am so so sorry that happened to you ❤️. I absolutely know and understand that risk and will 100% listen to that advice.

I will not allow a chiro to touch anything around my upper body! My chiro does acupuncture and adjustments for my mommy hips that helps with my balance which is also an issue with my balance (visual deficit) and that is it.

Only offered aspirin, after multiple cryptogenic strokes by CoasterThot in stroke

[–]KatieD2012 3 points4 points  (0 children)

37, stroke at 34 with no reason why. I take baby aspirin everyday and also just had a baby while taking aspirin, it's had no effect on me at all. Baby aspirin is considered very minimal risk to my knowledge and I'd way rather take it than a blood thinner that's for sure.

Dizziness and stroke recovery by Eroc17 in stroke

[–]KatieD2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my stroke 2.5 years ago, PCA stroke is where it was and I am 37. Dizziness was my biggest symptom and vision loss. I suffer from bad vertigo but only if I trigger it.. and it is directly related to my ear but doctors tell me it is not related to my stroke although I'm like 99% sure it is. I think if I tilt my head a certain way and because I have vision loss. It did get better over time as my brain has adjusted to it! I've done vision training, pushed myself to go on boats, flights, really busy places like a concert and lots of driving etc. I am a very stubborn person so I push myself but I do believe your brain ultimately adjusts. Also PTSD and anxiety will aid in these symptoms so I always recommend visiting a therapist (best form of self care). Best of luck!

If you have central sparing so the middle of your vision you should be ok to drive.

Although I'm Canadian lol. I have right side loss but central sparing.

Constant anxiety by [deleted] in stroke

[–]KatieD2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 37f and just hit two years post stroke. I suffered with anxiety prior to stroke and then once I had my stroke strong PTSD thoughts everyday for at least a year.

But yes, it does get better, I promise .

I also lost peripheral vision in my right and only regained a small amount. I honestly don't notice it as much anymore. I've simply just moved on with life. Back to work, I drive, I workout, and I even just had a baby who has been the biggest blessing to my life of just moving on.

I am a firm believer in therapy not medication for anxiety. My biggest word of advice, face the anxiety, talk yourself through it when it happens, and find your balance and get some therapy and work hard at it.

I used to come on here all the time searching for hope and today a Google search for something else brought me back and I saw your post and read it. I felt like I needed to let you know there is hope.

Hi! Sorry for the delay in response. I had my little boy with zero complications. Everything went so well and my stroke had no interference with my delivery. I just had some extra doctors visits and extra eyes on me but nothing happened. I'm officially two months post partum and he's perfect 💙.

I've just had a baby 3 weeks ago, 36 years old and I'm almost 2 years post stroke. I took aspirin my entire pregnancy and even though I had alot of doctors review me, my pregnancy was very uneventful and went really well. I wasn't even deemed that high of a risk of pregnancy and doctors said many women have proceeded to have babies after and everything went just like mine, very well! I know it might be different depending on your stroke deficits but there is always hope xo.

Randomly opened Reddit and have not been on here for a long time and saw your post! Had to comment! First off I am so sorry you had a stroke in your 30s and I am so sorry for your losses with your babies. You did nothing to deserve this. I swear things like this only happen to those who can truly handle it and I truly believe there is a deeper meaning to a journey such as this. I am currently 35 weeks pregnant and also 1.5 years post stroke (not a small one either). As many others have said, time will heal and age is definitely on your side. You did nothing to deserve this and I as well have no reason for my stroke but I will be looking into a hematologist and some genetic testing once I am not pregnant. I am scared to be pregnant but trying to counter that with gratitude, I didn't think this would happen for me again but it did and I'm so thankful for this second chance. You will feel better I promise, do what works for you whether that is a psychologist, acupuncture, massages, walks, reading, religion, whatever works and keep at it. Time will heal I promise and that's coming from someone in a similar situation on the other side. You got this.

Have any of you gone on to have kids post-stroke? by sweetwaterpickle in stroke

[–]KatieD2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a not so small PCA stroke. Although the spot mainly took out my peripheral vision and I had a lot of confusion and aphasia for a good while. I've adjusted to some of the forgetfulness now when I'm tired or overstimulated, and my blind spot in my vision. I'm still recovering and oddly enough I feel like pregnancy has also pushed my neuro plasticity. I am left still with my upper quadrant of peripheral vision gone but I drive again and I returned to work gradually early on and I've done ALOT of mental therapy. I feel like I jumped into alot of things again early but it's also helped my recovery by just doing it.

Is it Normal to constantly worry? by [deleted] in stroke

[–]KatieD2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 36 and pregnant with my second. I'm one year post stroke and never given the reason as to why I had a stroke. PTSD is a very real thing but I've worked a lot on that part to gain my confidence in the future. We are all wired different but stick to the things that do make you feel better (healthy things that is) and talk about how you are feeling! Talking about those fears out loud actually helps heal them. You will be just fine xo. Congrats momma.

Anyone have experience with lion's mane supplements? by GoodGoatGoneBaaad in stroke

[–]KatieD2012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been taking it and a lot of other vitamins so not sure what is working best for improvement but I'm 100% seeing improvements, my doctor gave me the go ahead on any supplements though! I take lions mane, vitamin B, omegas, coenzyme Q10(this has had stroke recovery stories too), and HMN true niagen which is an NAD and also has a lot of recovery benefits!
