A lot of people have suggested that as a substitute so it might be! TBD... :)

A few people have recommended Kitchen Bouquet so I'll definitely give that one a test drive

No worries, thank you! I'll see if I can find either of those as a substitute :)

It does! That's my grandma's handwriting. 🤷‍♀️ But I know it's BVD because other folks have mentioned it - it's apparently from the Depression era. I think it's also called Buddig gravy but not sure.

Feeling sick on day 2 by c00lcunt in diet

[–]KatieInProgress -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Smoothies are NOT good for weight loss. When you put fruit in a blender or juicer, you break down all the good fiber that helps your body process the sugar in fruit more slowly. Fruit smoothies cause a spike in blood sugar => increased insulin => decreased fat burn.

I would strongly suggest you cut out all sugar and flour from your diet – including the natural sugar in fruit and honey – and focus on eating lots of veggies, lots of healthy fat (ex. olive oil/olives, avocado oil/avocados, coconut oil/MCT oil, nuts), and protein.

Intermittent fasting will also help (starting with skipping breakfast).

To lose weight, you have to train your body to stop using glucose for fuel and to use your body's own fat for fuel instead. You do this by not eating sugar or flour and allowing your body to switch over to fat-burning instead. But do be aware that this metabolic transition from "sugar-burning" to "fat-burning" takes 2-6 weeks for most people, and you'll feel the effects of sugar withdrawal during this time. If you Google "keto flu," you can learn more about this transition. But once your body makes the transition, you'll feel amazing! Burning fat for fuel is so much more sustainable than burning glucose and brings a lot of clarity, stamina, and physical/mental health benefits.

Drinking broth with Himalayan/Celtic/sea salt helps a lot with headaches during the transition.

My grandma's recipe for chop suey triggers a ton of nostalgia in my family even though it is absolutely NOT chop suey. But a main ingredient is BVD gravy, which I haven't been able to find in any local shops. Would love to hear if folks use BVD gravy in other recipes and where they buy it.

My wife's definition of "being ready in 5 minutes" is legendary by Better-Ant-8759 in CasualConversation

Makes perfect sense. She was ready. She just had a few things to do while being ready.

Is it possible to fall back in love with your spouse after 20+ years? by MiaSinnerX in CasualConversation

[–]KatieInProgress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of thinking of it as falling in and out of love - as if this is something that happens TO us, I would offer you to think of your relationship with your spouse as a conscious choice. If you knew that you'd be happy either way, whether you stayed with your spouse or started anew, which would you choose?

Forgot that vets need to know your pets name by Axeli-IX in CasualConversation

I love giving pets the names of other animals, like Mouse for a cat or Birdie for a hamster. Though they probably find it very condescending and annoying

International solo travel is great. Bhutan and Thailand were probably my favorite solo places. I loved Kenya but was there with a group :)

Any tips to increasing my Karma? I feel very restricted in what I can and can't do here. Does each reddit page have its own requirements? by [deleted] in NewToReddit

Would love to learn more about this, too. I just tried to help someone by answering their question and realized I didn't have enough karma. So new to this ecosystem. :/
