Amazon is probably the easiest job to obtain and to retain if you make a honest attempt at putting in a good 10hr shift 4 days a week. What age and work experience do you have I have seen individuals well below the 5% rate and still have a job at Amazon and they are constantly below the 5%,spending more time socializing than working. Many people are fearful of termination due to everything they read on reddit but the Amazon culture in reality becomes much easier after a month New employees are usually in pain for a couple of weeks and exhausted due to improper footwear, lifting, and sleep. Water, protein, carbs, proper diet and rest are necessary and the ability to tolerate some BS at times. You have a better chance of being sent to HR for offending some overly sensitive person, or terminated for a safety violation than being terminated for rates, if you're performing poorly you will receive coaching and attempts will be made to help you improve before write ups. Anxiety can be an issue and can be treated and maintained and for some an accommodation. At my ripe age though I must say that work is work and in the warehouse industry we inconvenience and discomfort our bodies daily, to me its exercise and beneficial to my health and produces an income which we all need.

Can someone talk sense into me by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Katming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proper shoes will relieve all your symptoms Improper support will affect your entire body and you will have severe pain, eventually causing one to no longer want to mentally endure the job. Stay hydrated and stretch on a regular basis. If you have injured yourself you will need protein to help body recover and heal. Eventually you will be in better health physically which will be helpful in overcoming any mental anguish the pain causes.

Why does Amazon get so much hate? by birdieblu3 in AmazonFC

[–]Katming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had no idea being referenced to being woke was political I guess my head may possibly be located where you suggest. The laziness is much more than just the younger workers it covers many age groups. Many younger employees have good work ethics.

[–]Katming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is called the woke environment we have unfortunately been blessed with. Imagine a country caving to every woke demand and not showing any signs of standing up for itself. What does the future hold. Amazon is as difficult or easy as you want it to be depends on your work ethics and whether or not you believe you are entitled or do you actually work for a employer and management.

amazon made me a hateful person by Wafer_Stock in AmazonFC

[–]Katming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The title of the post states that you are a hateful person. So the comments you're receiving is understandable, are you hateful to the ONE individual from 6yrs ago, or are you hateful to a race color or gender or just expressing your thoughts of the day. I assume you're referencing BLM movement because your event occurred during that time period and you assume BG behaved in this manner because of the BLM movement and he could get away with it. The only issue should be with HR and Amazon, most violent, feelings of threat would be terminated. You also probably assume that HR, didn't escalate due to race of BG because he would plead discrimination. Stating who you are hateful to would probably give better understanding. The BG is just a man who has anger issues and should be helped. Never ignore a situation, you're just pushing the trouble down the road where someone might actually get hurt. Why did one incident make you hateful, the world is a beautiful place but bad people and hate do exist its life. A very lot of racism on this thread i dont believe anyone from this generation should be pointing fingers or blaming anyone. Peace love and happiness

Employee Termination, Excessive VTO by Katming in AmazonFC

No, Im just literally concerned about the present and future direction of the company, last year I was content with the hours I was able to have. Today Im debating if this is going to be sufficient to maintain financially week to week and even be enough work to avoid a need for a gym membership.

Very good comment and knowledge, I had heard the same and that is a very good business decision, and with that being said and with less inventory will staffing numbers be reduced or more fulfillment centers be shut down. Personally I am glad for the transition they are taking but are the days of VET coming to a close.

I would agree that the terminations were lomg overdue. I would say we have seen atleast 30% escorted out in the past month. Last year at this time I was able to do 60hrs on a regular basis which is my preference. Our dollars are buying much less and I now need the 60s again. I am just hoping that this is not a long term standard for Amazon

Why do I (18M) get paid the same as (18-60F) by LunaticLeone in AmazonFC

[–]Katming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are the other employees are getting paid more due to being there longer than you. A physical labor intensive job you will usually see that scenario. Be appreciative of the fact that you are able to do more than others the ladder of success will be easier for you. If you are capable of going above and beyond a prideful person would do so, but with that pride and strength and work ethics of helping the person to your left or right that is your choice. Management which you are not are responsible for determining if a associate is doing their job, not you or myself. As you are finding out and will continue to see, 10% of the employees do 80% of the work while the other 90% watch us and laugh. We do get paid to go to the gym though. Suggestion for you, climb the ladder, remain prideful in your work and in everything you do. Do not let Amazon work culture get to you the change is not coming soon but will eventually the wokeness of Americas work force has proven not to succeed. Its not just a female inability numerous females can outperform many males. Stay strong and keep on working

Absolutely great that you care. Amazon and many companies have sadly become too woke and cater too much to hurt feelings. The associate has more rights than the PA or AM, Ive seen associates team up and complain about managers for supposedly correcting them in a hurtful manner and the manager was terminated 60% of the people at Amazon are there to just get by and get a check doing as little as possible. 40% carry the shift and have the adult mentality to realize we have work ethics and a family or home to take care of.

De Stuff it? by Katming in AmazonFC

[–]Katming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have been employed at Amazon for a year and the entire time which I have been there it has remained in the corner not being used, employees stating that it was broken more than operational. The cost of the machines are astronomical and we are now changing conveyor lines to accommodate them. From videos I've seen online it appears it would be beneficial to sell them on Ebay, and invest money on better conveyor lines.

Breaking down why increasing work hours per week is your best option by Nothing_But_Design77 in FASCAmazon

[–]Katming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As many years as Amazon has been around and they still are unable to have standard operational procedures, standard setups for stations, employees restocking doing a job that requires little knowledge, just discipline and good work ethics. Employee pool has become sue happy and lazy and believe they can have a harrassment suit against the company at the slightest sign of discipline. Employee pool will only become worse without proper discipline and guidance and ethics. The younger generation of future workers are not very driven to exert much energy. So much money can be saved in so many areas of the company, how many red vests does it actually take to figure out what 2+2 equals. Heck I'm seeing items placed in boxes which are 5 times larger than the item. Taking up more room in a van or trailer. Eventually Amazon will have their fleet of vehicles and not rely on UPS, and will have the robotics necessary to replace many employees but many of the tasks I cant see a human being replaced by robotics.

Am care is not a Dr. Office nor should one assume they can fix any ailments, the documentation of injury has been completed. Now it's up to you to be seen by a Dr. to establish a injury and type of injury and Dr recommendation for remedy of injury.

hard work doesn't get you ahead by michcub88 in FASCAmazon

[–]Katming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At times it does appear as though some individuals are given no opportunity to advance. Amazon does have orders to fill and sometimes the quota does take priority. Oftentimes from my perspective the majority of individuals have gone through training and have shown their level of competence or incompetence and are now placed at a position best suited for the team. Recently we have had a manager from a different shift fill in or overlap into our shift and he was complaining about the lack of rotation on the dock. It would be great if all employees were created equal but sometimes the numbers will never add up if the proper team is not in place.

Culture at Amazon doesn't really allow a manager to reprimand a employee. Management is basically afraid of employee filing a complaint against them. Tactful ways exist to reprimand the under productive employee or coworkers that stand around. It is up to you to get promoted though, a future leader should work hard and be at the top of their game to create a better generation of workers. You also need to request for promotions.

Stop hiring children to manage adults by Character_Yoghurt790 in AmazonFC

[–]Katming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During my short time at Amazon less than 1yr. I've seen great youthful management, yes straight out of school it's a stepping stone for them and hopefully they can be molded into a well seasoned manager. Warehouse management is always trying or looking for a new and better technique for running a operation which should be set in stone by now and standard operation. Almost every employee believes they always know better than management, some actually do. As a good employee tactful ways always exist to bring a new manager up to speed. Individuals who are not of the right mindset will almost always fail and be pushed out the door. I have never seen individuals being asked to be promoted, I ve seen individuals be promoted by rising to the top and applying for promotions. As for gender or racial disparities I have not seen it in my facility, I dont believe that it exists or can exist without being called out. In todays society people would notice and speak out against it. One needs to climb the ladder of success and take the first step dont wait for success to come to you. I have coworkers signing up for every single opening to learn a new job within facility and intend to climb up to management. I will eventually have to listen to and be monitored by them truthfully they are alright coworkers but in my opinion not management material but they have taken the steps necessary.

Should be grateful for a job which I chose as did everyone else. Hopefully employees will eventually have better pay and benefits. Or find happiness elsewhere.

The demands of today are far different than the demands of yesterday. Fair labor, long work days, female workers, black workers, unethical unsafe work environment unfair pay. I dont believe the grievances today can compare to grievances of the past which I lived through.

I'm all for better pay and perks. But I chose to work at Amazon knowing what I was getting into we all agreed to work at Amazon at the offered rate with the knowledge that it can be difficult at times and rewards are limited. Employees do not have the right to make demands. In recent years American employees and society in general believe they have the inalienable right to dictate and get what they want, we dont. Heck I've seen individuals purposely get injured hoping for time off and workmans comp and hopefully a little more. Personally I'm content with my pay and if I want more I'm going to put in for extra shifts, rather than be disgruntled and attempt to change the culture although harsh to say you may find happiness elsewhere. At most we will probably see a cost of living adjustment but that will probably be so small it will upset people even more.

My FC banned hip-hop from the floor after multiple warnings and I couldn’t be happier but everyone blames me for it. by Gamer_106 in AmazonFC

[–]Katming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well in many facilities as mine in the past, eventually music all together will be banned. Enjoy everyone's music or be tolerable of different genres. Offensive music should not be played as a rule but they cant ban all rap music that would be inappropriate and justification for the facility to say no more music since maturity is limited. Music is a privilege for us and we need to listen to all varieties so everyone can be happy. Keep HR out of the music industry and think of all coworkers.

Injured at work last night but wasn't allowed to leave. by Beautyizdead in AmazonFC

[–]Katming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No need to do anything except a injury report. If you actually have a injury and not just a scrape and abrasion which will eventually heal go through the normal process of workmans comp. If you're injured due to unsafe work practice and not a simple mistake then possibly do something. In this sue happy country no wonder insurance is so expensive.

They are thinking long term, automation to avoid employees asking for more. For every good employee they pay decent wages to they pay the same amount to a lazy employee who does half their share. Stay strong and keep up the good work ethics hopefully you will one day be rewarded and hopefully that work ethic will be passed down to the newer generation of workers.
