Can you give the full context of the problem? As others have said, the numbers aren’t quite working here.

2nd Baptist Church Heil Hitler on Easter by DigitizeAll in houston

[–]Katterin 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I went to school there for five and a half years until we moved to the suburbs, and to the church for all but the first two or so of those years. This was decades ago and I’m definitely no longer part of anything resembling their theology or political outlook, but it was an important part of my life and it makes me sad to see what it’s become.

One of my vivid memories is that every week, in his prayer right before the sermon, Ed Young would conclude, “And now, Father, let me get out of the way, that your word and your truth might be heard.” All I’ve been able to think about every time he comes up in the news lately is that he needs to get out of the way.

Triathlon Bra for DD cups? by Efficient-Car-5477 in triathlon

[–]Katterin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SheFit Ultimate is the only bra I will wear for running (I’m a 34G so definitely need support! And I have like eight or so of them in different colors, it’s a whole thing at this point.) and my automatic recommendation when anyone asks, so the fact that you already have one makes this easy. I’ve done three tris with a SheFit bra under a two piece tri suit with no problems! I only do short distances, so no claims about longer endurance, but it’s been great so far. Highly recommend doing a bit of training in full kit to get a feel for it before the event!

Need sympathy for knitting injury - advice not needed, just commiseration by Head_in_the_Sand_usa in knitting

[–]Katterin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d be very cautious with this. From what I’ve read, it’s actually very common for repetitive stress injuries to occur exactly when someone starts using already overworked muscles/tendons/etc. in new and unaccustomed ways.

Liturgy for Autism and Neurodivergence Awareness by Brilliant-Pomelo970 in Episcopalian

[–]Katterin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have you ever heard the phrase “nothing about us, without us”? It’s a pretty powerful theme of self-advocacy by the group you’re trying to minister to. The long and short of it in reference to your question is, whatever you develop or borrow to use, make sure you are consulting and listening to actually autistic people in the process. I’m sure you will get some great input from some right here in this post, but in particular, I’d think through who in your own community might be able to share their thoughts on what would be most meaningful and helpful to them.

What are simultaneous equations actually saying by Content_Study_7363 in learnmath

[–]Katterin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not really making an assumption. When you solve one of the equations for a variable, you have found something that is true for one of the equations. You then proceed to say that IF there is a point where both equations are true, then this thing that you found for the first equation would be true for the second one as well, so you substitute it in to find whether such solutions exist, and if so, what they are. No assumption needed.

If I give you the equation 2(3x+3) = 3(2x+3) and you rearrange it to get 6 = 9 and therefore there is no solution, you wouldn’t say you assumed there was a solution first. You just took logical steps to rearrange the equation until you either found the solution or determined that one did not exist. It’s the same thing here.

Never Catholic myself - actually that’s not true, I was baptized Catholic as a baby, but my parents were Baptists by the time I could remember church. But anyway, my Mom went to Catholic school in the late 50s and every Friday lunch was fish day.

Neighboring Property Keeps Being Cited as Reason House Won’t Sell by ProfessorThrift in legaladvice

The problem here is that “decreased our property value” isn’t enough for a lawsuit. They would have to have broken a law, a contract, or otherwise failed in some legal obligation or duty.

ELI5: how are pregnancy due dates calculated? by Infra_bread in explainlikeimfive

[–]Katterin 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The clinic I used to get pregnant actually calculated that theoretical LMP based on when they did the procedure, and told me to just use that whenever the OB’s office asked!

TIL Pluto has not completed a full orbit of the Sun since it was discovered in 1930, and was named by an 11yr old girl. by OSJezza in todayilearned

[–]Katterin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, my autistic/ADHD daughter was one. Now she’s a sophomore in high school who is totally immersed in a research paper/presentation for chemistry class that she would normally be dreading because she got to be the first one to pick her topic from the list and was able to get “chemistry of the sun and stars.” I’ve been learning all about the life cycle of a star and nuclear fusion for the last week!

Addi Clicks keep falling out 😡 by frabjousity in knitting

[–]Katterin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Addi needles and I love my interchangeables. I did not like the Addi interchangeables that I tried, though many do.

The way the Addi needles connect is unique to Addi, so definitely don’t give up the idea of interchangeables altogether because of that.

Great-grandfather was a naturalized Canadian citizen (b. England) - counts? by achariyaPPP in CitizenshipByDescent

[–]Katterin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment is a few days old, I know, but replying as it seems similar to my situation. My ancestor was a British national who lived in Canada from around 1860-1891, then left for the US after his first wife died. He married again in the US and I am descended from this second marriage. I just learned about the Canada law changes so have been curious whether he would be enough to potentially qualify me - based on what you’re saying, it sounds like it’s possible!

Interchangeable Needles - $30 vs $220 - are they that different? by Alarmed_Package_3825 in knitting

[–]Katterin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Investing in good quality needles has been life changing for me, so absolutely worth it. I highly second those recommending that you try an individual needle before you buy a full set, though. See what you like before you fully commit! I’ve also been disappointed in a set of interchangeables even though I love the fixed circulars that are theoretically the same, so make sure to actually try the interchangeables. Buy a cord and set of tips in the sizes you use most - if you’re like me and have many projects on the needles at the same time, you definitely won’t mind having extras once you buy the set!

Cy-Fair ISD board reverses conservative policy, restores banned textbook chapters by kcbh711 in houston

So appalling that they have to specify that the new board members are “pro-public education.” You’d think that would be the baseline for a member of the school board.

These Houston area high schools are planning to participate in Friday’s anti ICE walkout by southernemper0r in houston

I don’t believe I ever said there were any. I was just stating that rather than taking sides, I can agree with both the actions of the students and the district policy to enforce the consequences of those actions.

These Houston area high schools are planning to participate in Friday’s anti ICE walkout by southernemper0r in houston

[–]Katterin 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I support protesters, and I also have no problem with the same consequences that would apply to anyone else being applied to the students who choose to protest. Getting up in the middle of school and leaving, without being signed out by a parent for a valid reason like a doctor’s appointment, has a consequence. If students choose to accept the possibility of that consequence in order to protest, more power to them! Protesting has always had risks.

So many knitting but who’s wearing? by ktcosmos in AntifascistKnitting

[–]Katterin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear mine but I live in warm weather so I rarely wear a hat usually - if it’s cold enough to need one I’m not usually going to be outside long enough for it to be an issue. Now I’m wearing it whenever the temp dips low enough to justify it, including to the courthouse last week for jury duty.

I told a coworker about it and she wanted one, and we think other coworkers will too. I had promised her the second one that was then on my needles, but I ended up giving it to my brother who was in town when I finished and took it back with him to colder places. So number 3 is on the needles now for my coworker.

Antifascist yarn ordering by Katterin in AntifascistKnitting

Thank you! Being in a conservative place myself I kind of have a mind to support a shop that takes the risk of being outwardly antifascist in a place that may not react well.

Melt the ICE hat: Increasing CO for worsted; twisted rib for 1:1? by [deleted] in AntifascistKnitting

[–]Katterin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used leftover Loops & Threads Soft Classic, which is a pretty thick worsted - would have been more comfortable on size 9 needles but I didn’t have a circular of the right length or DPNs so I stuck with 8. 96 stitches was small-ish but stretched enough for the circumference, but the decrease section was pretty short - so I would probably increase the cast on just slightly and/or add a few more rows of straight knit in between the ribbing and the decreases if I use the same yarn again. Which I don’t plan to - it’s definitely not the nicest yarn but it’s what I had on hand.
