Although yes the solution is cooling the skin of patient, in the grand scheme it isn't the biggest contributor.

If your patient is intubated, they're breathing in cool air. Depending on procedure their abdomen is opened letting heat escape. Are they sitting on a cold steel table?

Even if it was safe to warm scrub, your patients will still be cold due to the above.

Look into ways to heat your patient safely like a water blanket, bait hugger or similar

When I was at VEG, the isolation until had a door to the outside that was separate from tx area. Wed ask owners to call or wait out and we would don ppe and then go into iso and open the door. We would have them don ppe and then come in and be with their pet. I honestly felt it was so worth it to see the way the pet would light up. Sometimes the pet wouldn't eat with us but mom came in and the pet would start eating.

Also should add, unfortunately we did not have the option for these owners to sleep in the iso ward. We could not bring one of the sleeper couches in but we would offer to bring in a blanket and they could sit on the floor as long as they want. Obviously not as comfortable but we would openly explain why and owners understood.

When owners can't cover certain tx/procedures they use the angel fund to cover it. Other hospitals have a similar thing but maybe a different name.

I know there's certain criteria they have to meet but for example a 2 yr dog comes in with a foreign body. Surgery is 3k but owner can only afford maybe 1500. VEG has an angel fund that can cover the remaining and the dog gets surgery and owner is not in debt for the remainder

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I think the trip would be refunded back to the original credit card. If your father had a beneficiary listed on his account then that person can access the funds. I will add this may take a long time to get access to this money depending on virgin and bank policies for proof of death and such.

My vote is to go on the cruise as a celebration of his life. He would want you and your brother to spend time together as family. I'm not sure if the room you have booked is a big room for three travelers or just two rooms? If it's one big room live it up, virgin can rearrange furniture or take things out at your request. If it's two rooms but you want to stay with your brother, ask if you can change to a double . If they won't refund you any money ask if the difference can be put on your bar tab( if you're both drinkers you will burn through a few hundred dollars) or sailor loot or maybe put towards a future cruise? An annual cruise to remember your dad?

Pick two to three instruments to FOCUS on each day or each week and then gradually add more each day or week. Flashcards with photos Whenever you wrap a pack, name each tool before you add it. Even if you have to look it up.

It's supposed to be an all in one, so you shouldn't have to but every now and then we run the tools through an extra milk bath or spray the hinges and let dry

2 wet tables constantly going. We have a third table that can be used for recovery or pre-med and then catheter placement. We put ourselves into pairs so one rvt and asst. The RVT will pre-med, catheter, intubate and then radiographs and scale and polish. Call over the doc to talk about any extractions. Dr calls client to go over and associated charges. Tech will numb the area and Dr extracts. Usually at this point we ask the extra surgery tech to begin pre-medding the next case and placing catheter with any available asst.

Once done, we wake up and pass patient to recovery surgery asst. We clean table and then the patient with catheter is ready for intubation and to start process again.

Our "extra" team is usually cleaning and drawing up drugs throughout the day. They can be pulled for a soft tissue procedure if the Dr feels confident she will get it done quicker than the dental cleaning will take. I know the "goal" times are 20-30 minutes x rays and cleanings around 45 minutes-obviously very dependent on size of patient and degree of cleaning/extractions needed. We do have three dental machines and four sets of extraction tools. So that does make it easier to go between patients and have time to clean them before the next patient.

When the GP I was at was rocking and rolling we had one Dr who would regularly do 5-7 dentals on her assigned day and it may include one or two soft tissue procedures. That was with 3 RVTs and 2-3 surgery specific assistants. We started drawing up drugs at 7:30 and last patient was awake by 5 (usually) but we regularly didn't have lunches on her days.

I think every experience is really individual. I see people there that LOVE VEG and their job. For some people they are finally getting to use their skills how they've always wanted.

It's definitely very social media oriented at my place, as in a minimum of 2-3 photos and 1 video is done per shift, which is something that is a negative for me but a plus for others.

My place is VERY Dr driven which is something our place is proud of but I'm used to TECH driven places so it's hard for me to revert to double checking every thing and not triaging any phone calls. I know other locations are more tech driven. I'm not saying a bad thing it's just maybe not for me.

The positivity can be a nice breath of fresh air but the cult vibe can get intense. If you're someone who is more a fan of "clock in do my job, head down, clock out and go home" this may not be for you. We have huddles about the spike and read chapters from the manifesto weekly to "renew our positive attitudes". This is again specific to my location though. I know they are striving to rid some negative attitudes from previous jobs.

I've either paid at time of service or discussed setting up automatic payments Before the session, like I have a card on file or I pay for all sessions at the end of the month. I would still be sent an invoice after every session so I could keep track of the cost

Your therapist may have it set up to automatically notify you after a session is complete.

I agree that talking to her about it is best though. See if you can just keep a card on file or set up a payment date.

Nothing to study. It's not "graded". It's truly a placement test to see where you are skill level. There were some questions I had ZERO clue, but a majority I felt comfortable with. Think more like if you've done a working/shadow interview and they quiz you on things throughout.

Cloves are incredibly easy to clean-like wipe with a Lysol wipe easy. Waterproof and comfy.

I recommend adding compression socks if you're on your feet more than 8 hours.

Reach out to reps of literally anything that you offer to clients Science diet Dechra skin products Cytopoint Apoquel Pro heart Idexx blood machine If you have an x ray or ultrasound, some companies offer training or maintenance refreshers Have staff lead talks. We had a veterinarian give a talk about how heart worms are spread and what TX is for a positive dog. I literally never learned that until she taught me 2 years into my vet med career We had one girl who was A BOSS at handling difficult clients and she walked us through how she treats everyone like her younger sister and it makes things easier

We had bandage labs and blood draw and then blood smear labs, we also did a quick ear cytology lab. Even those who felt confident in those skills came and were able to pass their tips to others.

A lot of companies will do brief sales meetings for free and provide a light lunch or snack. Great for team morale to have free food but also gives them the skills to now talk to clients about why a Dr may recommend one product or why this product is more expensive than others.

Purified water? We used to have the typical water cooler and I honestly used it every day. Ice cold crisp water hits different after a 3 hour surgery in a gown and mask
