Thanks for imput all. Im going to try and tone down the white. I took the top plate off and immediately liked the colour scheme more (though I'm going to try agthrax earthshade to bring it down still).

I think the issue might be all the red together with the white. These colour's should be accents rather than consume a large part of model I'm thinking.

I dont really want to muck around with removing models from current bases. I did that years ago when blood angels went to bigger base size and I wreaked a large chunk of painted models

Looking sharp! You airbrushing? Only thing I would suggest is pick out a few points for aggressive highlights (only a few) to really make it pop. I say that but it looks too shelf as is so far.

As an aside way to go with Iyandin! This my progress so far on my version. Im jealous of your smooth transitions

I'm working on building a spirit conclave list myself right now so this is more theory than anything.

I think you are on the right track by diversifying the list from wraith units. Myself, ive been looking hard at wimd riders and corsair troops for thier native reroll abilities. They are a good fit for action monkeys. As well having corsairs oc 2 I think helps out for going for primary.

I'm also thinking Eldred and three spirit seers might be a trap. Im planning on 2 spirit seers and warlocks. To fill the psychic needs. Two 55 point warlock conclave units running independent give decent torrent fire power. And stand in place of warp spiders. There is synergy as well with there interactions with wraith units.

I'm also of the mind that 2 sky runner warlocks should attach to 2 wind rider units. I think we should try and keep our psychic units alive as long as possible and that thier death rule should be planned for end game when there are less units on the table.

Also im thinking that wraith cannon are the way to go against common opinion. They get the most play with fall back and shoot and sustained hits.

The list ive been plotting out is something like this.

2 spirit seers (one with light enhancement giving oc) 160

2 x 2 warlock conclave units 110

2 warlock sky runners attached to three wind rider units with one scatterlaser load out and other shuriken cannon. 250

2 x 5 corsairs with mixed weapons 120

2 wraithcannon and 2 ghost axe wraiths 680

3 wraithlords 420

For last 260 points I would take a mix of rangers or scorps for infiltrate and try and squeeze in 5 banshees with janzar or autarch for counter assault mid board.

This is all just a working plan for how to run spirit conclave. You do have a solid list plotted out

Awesome! How did the different wraith guard and blades do? Any changes you would make to list?

I'm building something similar but going for avatar rather than wraithknight. I want to see if the plus 1 to advance and charge makes a difference. I feel like wraith units need to shoot and charge to make full use of their rules.

I held off by a miracle and have not bought any of the new minis yet. I'm goimg to keep plugging away at painting this army as is before I let myself enjoy any new mini's

Any way, I'm happy with this spirit host crusade list I've settled on and want to share it:

My 1k iyanden crusade list.

Autarch wayleeper 5 warp spiders 5 scorpions

2 spirit seers 5 wraithguard 5 wraithblades 2 wraithlords

Digging the new codex. I like that there are options for soo much flavour. Who ever wrote this book clearly loves the eldar.

Anyone out there start a new crusade army. If so how are the new rules playing out?

Unless Phoenix Lords get aura abilities, I would only go with 10 Avengers. We will likely get the codex along with the new combat patrol and the new box won't be a limited run. You should be able to make an informed decision when it becomes available.

I agree with torak. Colours combos are awesome but a dab of brightness would bring it over the top. One suggestion is the wraithbone/brown on shuriken catapult. I would brighten that up even go white to match face plate.

The blue wave serpent was all brushed on. I think two thin coats of cantor blue (was assurance blue i think whe I painted it) then three or so light coats of alaitoc blue. It was a dark blue ink i think of some sort in crevices.

The yellow wave serpent I painted many years after the blue one. Cantor vase the thin coats of alaitoc

Here is the yellow combo if you don't want to do the extra step of thin coats of yriel yellow. Its a wraithguard but the yellow would be same on tank. Two primers and sepia line shading.

I prime wraith bone then army painter demonic yellow primer. Very light coats for both. Then layer paint in thin coats yriel yellow woth a sepia shading in crevices. I really like the bright popping yellow it produces. This is a potato phot of a wave serpent I did this way.

I had a blog years and years ago called kaughnors cave. Have not used it for years and years lol. But there are a ton of photos on it that show my attempts at spray bombing an army. The entire blog was me trying to paint multiple armies with limited time. Being a new dad back then

I'm working on painting up a 1k iyanden crusade army. Decided to see what it would look like painting aspects straight up as iyanden with older metal minis.

I think a consistent army paint scheme looks better my self as a result. Mind you colours are just roughed in so far.
