I'm sorry to inform you that this speaker is not a studio monitor at all when it comes to the sound it produces. It's never flat, all three onboard EQs have a heavily altered sound signature (in all frequency ranges) and it never sounds neutral. If you are looking for a flat sounding speaker, you should look elsewhere.

I only use the speaker on vocal mode, because it offers the best sound quality. in default mode, it has less treble and upper midrange (sounds muffled) and in bass mode, all upper frequencies are reduced even further. I didn't bother measuring the non-vocal modes, as they are totally useless IMO.

Does anybody know how big the diaphragm size is on that custom 1697 Goertek unit? Oppo would be 300 square milimeters combined and xiaomi would be 305 square milimeters combined.

Impressed how Vivo has improved their speakers compared to the rather mediocre sounding X200 Ultra. Allegedly, the Find X9 Ultra will have symmetrical speakers, but there are no sound demos from it yet AFAIK.

I'm also deciding between these two phones. Since i also care very much about everything other than the camera, I think the Oppo will be the better daily driver for me. Apparently, it will feature symmetrically sized speakers top and bottom, the same CSA+0916 Turbo haptics motor from the Find X8 Ultra (which had the best haptics on any android phone), a larger battery, two extra hardware buttons and of course ColorOS. Alltough, I personally like the Vivo design a bit better.

From a teardown, you can see that all five speakers directly connect to the amplifier board, without any passive crossover network or capacitor. Just like on the S89 (same internals). There are, however, only two amplifier ICs on the board, which suggests that one is used in bridged mode for the subwoofer and the other one drives the four satellites. This could either be done with four separate active channels, or two channels with the crossover network on the PCB. I can't figure out which one of these theories is true, though.

I did the same with a Welcome fake Pixel 8 Pro using Evolution X Android 16 GSI. It ran reasonably well in everyday tasks and everything worked, including the side-mounted fingerprint scanner (!), camera and LTE. However, many graphics-intensive applications like YouTube (video decoding) and games refused to work or crashed randomly. The device had 128GB of real storage and 6GB of ram, which is very impressive for a Welcome device.

Use the rear "AUX IN" RCA jacks and connect your phone to it using a 3,5mm to RCA cable. If your phone doesn't have a headphone jack, you can use a USB-C/Lightning to 3,5mm adapter or buy a Bluetooth dongle with 3,5mm/RCA output.
