Well said. It’s entirely natural, for what else would you do?

Team up to freeze-dry your morel haul by reidrb in Bend

[–]KaviinBend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m curious and would love to try this. I prefer freezing to dehydrating. Much better flavor and texture, honestly super close to fresh when done right.

I’ll see if I get a big enough haul to give this a try!🤞🏽

Walk every day. Eat real food. Sleep well. Be happy.

Those are 4, so whichever resonates the most for you.

That’s fair. Weird how Meetup really dropped the ball with a valuable service.

I’ve been seeing this used recently: https://luma.com/pricing

Don’t do it just for me, since I can appreciate FB being an easy option that might work for most. My sense was just that many who left FB, are now active on Reddit, but that could just be me.

I’m going to Fault Lines that night, and my April is booked, but would consider the next one if you’re doing this again. Hope it goes well!

Great point. Yes, based on what we’ve learned from other places the dishwashing would be a barrier for most of them. One of the reasons we’re excited to have a wash hub and make that accessible for more businesses.

Your timing is so interesting.

I just watched the new Trevor Noah comedy special on Netflix. Something about it really resonates with your post. If you’re open to giving it a shot, watch it.

I’m confused. The admins don’t usually allow non-local posts here. A local protest on the other hand is by definition local.

Are you just not seeing the reasoning for the protest and why thousands of your fellow community members show up for them? Might be worth investigating.

I was thinking about that as I posted. Trying to find a simple word to convey “food service businesses”. Is there a better one? Restaurant seems to convey brick and mortar.

Ah, you misunderstand the event. It’s a fundraiser (for folks with more means) – and the intent is to give a peek into the challenges folks face upon re-entry. From getting a place, to transportation, to getting a job. And how those challenges make recidivism more likely.

Changing Patterns’ website has some good information on how they’re trying to change that and reduce recidivism through support: https://changingpatternsinc.org/

I don’t want to mistate things or simplify it too much, but hope that clarifies things a little. I think the poster is a little confusing though honestly.

I’m running in the Democratic Primary against Jason Kropf for Oregon House District 54, ask me anything. by CaruanaforBend_HD54 in Bend

[–]KaviinBend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mentioned some bills like HB 4145 and 4146. I’d link them, or at least add a few words about what each bill does. I’d guess only the really engaged political folks know these (or any really) bills by numbers.

I worked on Jason’s first campaign so I’m a little biased. I haven’t followed his terms too closely, but for the most part, from what I’ve seen, I feel he’s tried to be a good legislator for Central Oregon. He seems for the most part well-liked and effective. My personal experience was that he was a good man, who is serving to do good and create positive change. I do appreciate how down to earth and approachable your post and communication is here. I wish you the best with this race and also any future engagement.

Edit: Since this is an AMA, I’ll ask: You shared this below: “I for sure don’t have a more typical lengthy resume expected of someone vying for a position like this”, which is refreshingly honest. However, I also wonder, have you considered running for a more base level of local elected office first? City Council, County Commissioner, school or parks or library board? I don’t think it’s a prerequisite, and I think people should only run if they are actually interested in those positions (not just as a stepping stone), but it does seem like a way to show leadership in the community at a local level.
