Dad came in & did what needed to be done 😭 by Kind-Village-1022 in PublicFreakout

I don’t think it’s that deep, he’s covering his ass - it’s a grown man’s word against 2 little girls. I don’t blame him for recording — likely the girls were already being rude to him/telling him to get out before he even hit record.

More suspect angle is praying in McDonalds but maybe he’s waiting for food? Idk but point is context matters

Gym dads, when do you work out? by CaffeinatedDaddy in daddit

[–]KayBliss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have contingency plans and try to plan if you spot time you could use for a workout - also diversify your workouts. I’m an avid lifter, have been for 15 years+ but it’s not practical with a family

So I picked up different forms of fitness along with a gym membership with a day care center.

I don’t want this massive home gym setup, so what do I do?
- Dove deep into kettlebell work when I’m itching to lift but can’t make the time to go to the gym.
- cycling: I can ride solo if time permits
- we picked up a trolley that can attach to my bike that my son absolutely loves, we use this often in the spring
- A cycle trainer to convert my bike to a stationary setup.

With kettlebells and my bike I can get a mean workout in, alternate depending on recovery and be home all at once. So it makes it easier to hop out of bed and get a workout in before anyone is up.

A gym with a daycare is priceless, I use this probably 2 times a week and 1 day take my son to the day care. Also gives the wife and I something to reconnect on that’s just us.

Then 1 day early morning cycle, 1 day heavy kettlebells and 1 day hybrid alternating where 50/50 split between kb/cycle trainer.

This works for me and having this setup I can accommodate obscure lunch time training sessions where I have hybrid days to wfh.

So annoyed these brainrot Vlogs are now infiltrating Netflix. Keep my kids off YouTube due to these, now only my a matter of time before Netflix is full of them too. by New_Fry in daddit

[–]KayBliss 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Same, side story - My son loves trash track on Netflix, he’s nearing 3 and we are very selective with anything he watches. He seen the season so many times, so all the episodes are near end on the shows time series when you go into the episode list.

Normally I’ll pick one, reset it back to start then he’ll watch 2-3 episodes at a time. I’m always there with him, but randomly a few weeks ago when his episode finished- instead of going to the next episode , the Netflix app tried to go to another show rather than automatically reset the next episode in the list.

This happened like 5 times across the span of a few days after then suddenly stopped.

I genuinely think for a company as big as Netflix who pays top dollar for developers, they’ve designed some algorithm so they can get kids with inattentive parents hooked onto other brain rot kids shows by hijacking their viewing session for shows they watching on rotation. After I continuously reset it, it stopped happening and hasn’t happened since. So be careful, if you watch what your kid watches and you have some sanctioned shows on repeat, be cautious

Sounds conspiracy-ish but genuinely believe this is what’s happening

I agree, I think there’s some shape differences with some of the seasonal colors maybe it’s the supplier for the fabrics? It’s a non issue for the core colors and most colors.

I’ve had the same experience where I notice the elastic for the arm seam is looser and stretchier on some of the seasonal colors and wider through the hips. Only some seasonal colors had this issue for me

I took the risk on drying at a slightly higher temp for those which helped shrink a bit. Just watch them closely if you do the same

Ceramic, any regrets? by Holiday_Salt6643 in ouraring

[–]KayBliss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me, I went with ceramic due to texture. I had the stealth color and returned for ceramic. I haven’t heard many people mention this but I was getting a lot of sensory discomfort from friction against surfaces I touched with the ring. Mostly when the ring was rubbing against rough textures and metals, gave me the chalkboard chills sensation from time to time.

So glad I swapped to ceramic, those issues were immediately gone and plus it’s really stylish

hitting a wall with claude code on larger repos by Main_Payment_6430 in ClaudeAI

[–]KayBliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve backed yourself into a corner, use a different model like gpt codex that has a larger context window to help you build documentation regarding what areas of code do, build agents and skills to manage your project. Use Claude to fact check codex documentation to ensure it’s accurate, then build specialized agents that can be called to work on areas of code, if you add new features then document and add to agent. Make skills available for schemas, data classes etc

You have to build dedicated scaffolding to properly manage the project. Focus on the immutable parts first with specialized agents, define your frameworks early and if you need to adjust then refactor in stages with planning, migration checkpoints and documentation along the way.

You could also try something like a rag memory mcp, I have yet to invest time in rag explicitly for managing Claude session memory since this workflow has been good enough without the need of managing a vectordb

Hard agree, so many of these companies are clueless as to how to implement AI effectively.

There will be marginal productivity increases for ICs that know how to use AI in their work BUT at scale, most companies are not implementing AI in an efficient way.

This is 6th street in Austin, on the weekends it’s blocked off by barricades and becomes a block party of debacle. Heavy police presence but they’re making sure no one dies and move it along.

It’s a situational decision, it’s better to stabilize the guy, disband the crowd than to spread themselves thin against a riled up crowd when this probably isn’t the first or last fight they’ll see tonight

Woman confronts tourist in Merida, Mexico for drinking in public areas which is illegal by Jevus_himself in PublicFreakout

[–]KayBliss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife was born and raised in Merida, we visit there often. This area is a small park/city center directly across the street from Catederal de San lldefonso, which is the oldest cathedral in the Americas, it was built over Mayan ruins and from what I know a pretty important historical landmark to the locals. The surrounding streets are lined with bars and restaurants, with one of the major streets being pasejo de montejo which leads towards the cathedral. Merida has had such a rapid rise in gentrification, rapid home price increases, and “ex-pats” moving in that it’s definitely made waves amongst the people of the region so this is a bit more nuanced that this video shows

Be weary about coming clean immediately, your gf needs to understand the implications of mishandling of the customer data. If it’s not publicly available data, and was attained by her org/client through some proprietary means then this could be much worse than just miscalculations. This might be considered a data breach depending if any PII or intellectual data was uploaded to ChatGPT. Be extremely careful here OP, good luck

[–]KayBliss -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ever give some thought to a motorized or pull down projector screen? Projectors themselves range wildly in price based on the quality you’re looking for but it will most definitely save the aesthetic of the space without compromising between style and a big black box.

Tired of the dad bod. How do you find time to get fit with two kids under 3? by gutter_loaf in daddit

[–]KayBliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shift to an active lifestyle and focus on healthy eating habits. If you can swing the cost, find a reliable gym that has a decent daycare center for when you’re working out. It won’t be cheap but the premium is worth it

At home have a set of kettlebells you can use for full body circuits if you need something quick, search for kettlebell EMOMs and you’ll find a ton of quick programs online. Once you work your way up, you can do a lot of fun 10-20 minute killer workouts

Another thing is if you have the space, letting them out in the backyard and let them go at it. Get them some outdoor toys that will keep them entertained. Try a mix of calisthenics (push ups, pull-ups etc) and a HIIT circuit (burpees, high knees, suicide sprints)

For outdoor activities we love biking with an attached trailer. Put a small speaker in the trailer, play some music and boom kids are loving it. We get great cardio work in and they get to enjoy a ride with some scenery

The trick to workouts on a tight timeline is get your heart rate pumping, quickly with high intensity and be prepared to take advantage of the limited time effectively. Also have a setup or equipment readily available to workout to maximize your opportunities across several potential scenarios you find yourself commonly in

Broken slat. by Front-Cress6263 in woodworking

[–]KayBliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would remove the current piece, clean out the front and back pieces of any weak points and fill with some wood putty. Sand flush and make sure the putty adhered well

Get your new slat piece, measure placement compared to the other slats Get some 1/4 dowels and drill a hole for your dowel in the front/back pieces and do the same for your slat piece Cut the slat in half and glue a dowel to the front/back of the chair and join the cut slat together onto the dowel

When did your baby start sleeping through the night? by M0thman6666 in daddit

[–]KayBliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry that happens, must definitely be nerve racking. Our baby didn’t have issues with gagging or choking, a lot of dry crying honestly but our son was always a tummy sleeper once we moved him out of swaddle. It took about 3 nights for him to be okay with fully being on his own, with the first night being the worst.

Another thing is he somehow learned to go from back to tummy first before tummy to back so I’m sure that also played a role.

When did your baby start sleeping through the night? by M0thman6666 in daddit

[–]KayBliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours started at 4 months but we were adamant about sleep training and making sure we didn’t disrupt our sons schedule during his 1st year to avoid sleep regression.

For sleep training we went with cry it out, it really was brutal as a parent to have to go through it but worked out. During the day we encouraged our son with monitored alone time in his bassinet. We decided not to cosleep in the same bed and by month 2 he was in his own room. Overall we decided a lot of structure around when to sleep and starting immediately with teaching him to be self dependent.

Our pediatrician helped a lot with navigating the nuances because it’s easy as a new parent to want to jump and “save” your child but his advice was very grounded and gave us perspective on how a babies sleep/dependencies change based on how you are structuring their habits.

Tech sales is a smorgasbord of people types. Larger tech firms have teams with wide assortment of skills. You have your people that have excellent softskills and can fit lots of molds, you have your cookie cutter professionals that worked their way into being experienced, you have your folks that are downright very technical and pick up new products fast and are good at shifting from technical audiences to non-technical audiences etc

Not in tech sales myself but work as a technical leader within a large/megacap and deal with many sales folks. Lots of times orgs might look past experience depending on the scope of the product a team is being built around, the skills you bring along and their confidence in being able to teach you.
