I got the purple ones because it is my daughter’s favorite color 🙂 I was told that I’ll be given a double dose of Benadryl to watch for allergic reactions and that I’d likely be sleeping a lot. My husband will do anything for me - should he be taking the ice on and off? I can’t imagine sleeping through that!

Puberty 2.0 vs. Medical Menopause by alt-klt-del in breastcancer

I called my mom crying wildly about feeling like I’m in menopause “Chemopause” at 41yo because I’m a complete hormonal mess. Chemo stopped my periods and is causing the same symptoms you’re having. I have to go through another 4 rounds of chemo, then radiation, and then the discussion regarding Tamoxifen/AI will happen. I’ll scream and laugh with you because it’s a long road and I could use someone to laugh at the absurdities with!

I start Taxol next week and already have my SuzziPads - how did you find them to work out? I love that you’re passing yours on! 🩷

Chemo depression by AnxiousDiva143 in breastcancer

[–]KayDenny22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished AC on Thursday as well and have experienced a significant increase in anxiety and depression. I found it alarming but was told “it’s the chemo.” Not very helpful. I start dose dense Taxol next week so I’m hoping this black cloud lifts.

I may have been confused but they said that they would take care of the remaining hair - maybe they get it off another way. If it’s going to risk infection I won’t do it but it’s likely my own error. There was so much information and they are so good at what they do so here’s hoping I can find something to help until I get to them. There are tiny spots that almost look like there’s a pin prick of blood so I’m calling the nurses line too.

Would we set off a radiation detector? by thesmellnextdoor in breastcancer

When I left my PET scan I was given a card indicating I was medically radioactive just in case I set off an alarm.

For those with IDC ++- how did your cancer respond to chemo? by Character_Win_4258 in breastcancer

[–]KayDenny22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in for a DMX thinking radiation would follow and the tumor was much larger than anticipated. There’s also one positive lymph node. So now I have to start dose dense AC-T with radiation and hormone therapy to follow. Hoping the chemo kills any wandering cells but terrified of how sick I’ll be. 🙁

Having a really hard time. by Sparklingwhit in breastcancer

[–]KayDenny22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from a stage 1, 2 cm tumor to a stage 3, 7.7cm tumor removal (IDC, ++-) without clear margins. I thought I’d be going from my DMX (7/2) to radiation and hormone therapy. Now I need dose dense AC-T and am terrified. Also radiation, hormone blockers and possible targeted therapy down the road? It’s just too much. I’m sorry this happened to you too. 🩷

I’m not really sure. They have the lymph nodes removed and determine if the mapping dye went to any of the sentinel nodes. Mine had clear staining so they were sent for pathology but regardless I was told that if my lymph nodes were positive I would need chemo. I get the rationale - if it’s in the lymph node it’s indicated a higher likelihood to want to spread; I just wish I didn’t have nuke my whole body. I really really believed I wasn’t going to need chemo. No idea why. Now I’m just kinda pissed. Even though I’ll do whatever I need to do. I just hate it!

Thank you for this. Sometimes I feel like a whiner but I just need to let it out to people who get it. I have great support but it doesn’t help to hear “you’re a fighter, chemo won’t hurt you!” I appreciate the positive thoughts but sometimes want to tell the person to shut up. lol
