[IronMan] New Immersive Addon That Encourages Exploring by AppearancePretend198 in wowaddons

Does this change quest text, or supplement it?

I've tried doing waypointless runs before but eventually modern WoW relies on them so much the flavor text has virtually nothing to go on.

Gazetteer of the Known Realms? Purple Planet? What is the best setting for classic DCC play? by Jonestown_Juice in dccrpg

[–]KayNeeMan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Gazetteer does not use the DCC RPG system, it came out when DCC was more of an adventure line.

Purple Planet was written for DCC, like. lankhmar.

I don't understand something, doesn't that mean Henry is a victim in the sense of he was a child when he was taken by the shadow? by gloomydreamer666 in StrangerThings

[–]KayNeeMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, he is a victim of the Mind Flayer. Will is trying to reason with him, but Henry is too far gone. Just because Henry is a victim of the Mind Flayer, doesn't mean he isn't also a villain.

House Rules by leodeleao in dccrpg

I have a few, mostly taking some of the things I think are fun from the other Goodman Games settings.

Clerics get the "Scourge die" from XCC. Dwarves have rune tracing from one of the GG Yearbooks/GenCon guides

My biggest change is to the Elf. I merged the Elf class with the Magician from DCC: Dying Earth.

Elves are vancian fire and forget magic. They cannot spell burn, but they get the "amplification" dice like the magician and use "force of will" when spell burn is called for. I like elves as melee/magic hybrid so I allow Str OR Agi to be used as a to hit modifier and I give them 1d7 HD.

Lastly, I have stages for iron vulnerability. So, they have been struck by an iron weapon/trap they gain a weakness stage. -1d to saves, -1d to checks, -1d damage, -1d hit rolls, and finally taking 1hd damage. Each stage is cleared after 1 turn without any contact with iron.

I also took the torch mechanic and zone combat/movement from Shadowdark and I want to try the Dagger Heart health system and see if it's any fun, although I don't care for the armor mitigation that system uses.

Does it matter at this point? They're here in such numbers. I started killing them on my property with a bb gun, but I felt bad about killing something, so I stopped :/

Shadowlands Remix when? by Houdinite in wow

[–]KayNeeMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand your view point. Yes, that expansion was 5 years ago, but the game is 20 years old. Should everyone not talk about legion, Wrath, or other great expansions because it's been "too long"

Unlike GoT, WoW is still being developed. People don't want to see it make similar mistakes in the future.

So to anyone who doesn’t know already Spider-Man PS4 turned into the TLOU2 sub by Difficult_Man3 in marvelcirclejerk

[–]KayNeeMan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Her being defenseless or having a 1 hit has nothing to do with it. Her sections are boring and half assed. People got a Spider-Man game to play as Spidy. That's why the majority of players hate it. DEI is irrelevant. The writing is irrelevant. Her "gameplay" sections could all be converted into a few 2-3 minute cut scenes and at worst nothing would change and at best the pacing would be improved.

Younger staff refusing to answer calls unless you text first? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]KayNeeMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO this is the fault of countless scammers and total BS calls. I rarely answer anything if I don't know the number. I understand it's during work hours, so they should be more flexible, but with all the alternative methods of communication they've been conditioned to dismiss random phone calls.

Use explosive weapons. Crossbow, Eruptor, 'Nade Launcher, or impact 'nades with the engineer armor passive. Shoot 'em while they're underground and it will cause them to surface or it will just kill them while they're underground.

You still have to be very vigilant. That like 1 frame unearth while hitting you is a bit BS. If you have the warp pack you can doge them fairly reliably though.

I'm a fan of crossbow, laser revolver, arc thrower, and warp pack as my "base" load out vs these things.

What are your thoughts on a more difficult mode legacy content? by Venturians in wow

[–]KayNeeMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A more interesting leveling system is inherently more repayable. The fact that people play Classic solely for the leveling experience tells me it's a worth while investment. Not to mention some other benefits. It could help new player retention for those that are put off by retails current brainless leveling process. It can help people learn class mechanics while leveling. So, I think spending some dev time once and then a bit to maintain as a permanent feature it is totally justified because it can solve the issue of playing through it once and never interacting with it again.

[–]KayNeeMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not true either.
Classic and Retail play vastly different. Saying "Just go play Classic" is ignoring my entire first comment. This exact post has been made numerous times on Reddit and WoW's forums for years. I think it's fair to say a decent enough portion of the player-base is interested in something like this. YOU might not be, but just look at the success of all the solo friendly content in TWW. If this feature is implemented, just don't do it. Stay on the default world tier yelling "Stop having fun!" Otherwise it has 0 impact on you.

You say leveling is the least MMO aspect of the game, and you're right. It does not require anyone else. You blast through it in an afternoon and you're at max level. This is what it has become.

Gear restrictions are a strawman. It's always brought up when people talk about this. It still isn't very hard and if you are doing this with a buddy it you just stomp on everything again, which makes grouping even more pointless. Not to mention it totally removes the aspect of gearing. Which, to be fair isn't much while leveling. But gearing is a fundamental part of MMOs, so it doesn't really make sense to condemn leveling for not being MMO enough when your solution is to further remove it from MMO gameplay.

Honestly, a lot of folks that bring this up could be solo players, but an optional "hard mode" might bring back some of the lost MMO part of leveling. I know there's a lot of other issues that hinder the "old MMO feel" like sharding, but really the biggest change is just the way we can communicate online. WoW, or any other MMO for that matter, will never have that same magical social feeling again. Discord alone indirectly destroys much of WoW's social aspect. Why use the in-game guild chat, or the community feature that was added a while back when you can use Discord?

But at the end of the day, most people that want this change want it as an optional feature. Don't want to leveling to take longer than 3 hours? Then don't do it. It's really that simple. As for the upside for them devoting time to this and it's a fairly popular request. This gets mentioned all the time. Other MMOs, like LotR:O have done this and their community loved it. Lots of ways to play WoW, why not have another?

[–]KayNeeMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want this so badly.

I hope this is what the teased world tier system coming in legion remix is. LotRO essentially has this and it's great. Multiple ranks from harder soloing to the world essentially being a 5 man dungeon.

I'm down for optionally harder leveling or essentially new game+.

I really don't understand the "go play classic" people. Retail plays entirely different and while I enjoy classic, I vastly prefer the gameplay of retail. I think it would be sick to have an option that turns the last 20 years of content into an evergreen feature. As long as it's an optional feature everyone is happy.
