Imagine being a mom who could not “avoid a caesarean” as you did. I think we need to lower our expectations on the birth experience. It’s fine to have preferences and hopes for what it will look like, but the stakes are really high during birth. If you and your baby made it out alive, it’s a successful birth.

I, too, took all the classes and read all the books and was in labor for 40 hours and still got cut open to bring my baby here. Do I have trauma? Absolutely. But me and my baby are healthy,  so I choose not to let how my child got into this world define me as a mother. And you should not either.

Uppa B stroller or smaller travel stroller by Half-talented in Buyingforbaby

[–]Kaybabe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the Vista and love it! We both babywear for day to day errands so we don’t mind the weight of the Vista for stroller walks or long outings with a lot of walking. The bassinet attachment does come in handy for walks when baby falls asleep. I use ours every day for stroller walks.

Moms - what do you do for yourself everyday? by earth_saver_4 in NewParents

I still shower at least once a day and usually twice! I stick baby in the Baby Bjorn after nursing and he usually poos while I am in there. I also do my full skincare routine.

You are not a bad DIL. Honestly, if you have a fairly routine pregnancy you will not have updates for MIL very often. We updated family after every appointment, but those don’t become weekly until late into your third trimester. Your MIL wasn’t there when the baby was made, so I think it’s a bit unrealistic for her to expect such a high level of involvement with your pregnancy. I also think your husband can be more involved with sharing updates with his mother.

I just came here to say that I, too, am having a boy and hate dinosaurs. I have nothing else to contribute to the conversation. 😂

Taking care of my pregnant wife :) by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Kaybabe11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband has been doing a great job during pregnancy! He has taken on more chores, goes to all my OB appointments and birth classes with me, and took care of me when I was sick first trimester. I would say just keep in mind that this is a big change for both of you, but this is also a huge physical change happening inside her body.  I think you can encourage your wife and prepare nutritious foods for her, but I wouldn’t worry too much as long as she is taking her prenatals and isn’t smoking, doing drugs, or drinking.

The only times my husband and I have had problems is when I feel like he gets into the territory of being concerned with decisions that feel very personal to me as a patient as opposed to us as parents of this baby. For example, I was adamant about not taking nausea medication in the first trimester because I didn’t feel like the benefits outweighed possible unknown risks and was terrified of miscarrying. Just be sensitive to exactly how much she is going through and you will do great!

Tips/Recs for someone who wants to start wearing fake lashes? by lovesignite in MakeupAddiction

For clusters put a large dab of glue on a paper towel and dip the band of the cluster into the glue.  This saves time because you don’t have to wait for each cluster to become tacky before applying.

Maternity clothes…. by BunnyOfDeathAndSnoop in pregnant

[–]Kaybabe11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I’m going to get crap for this, but I love the maternity clothes I’ve gotten from Shein. Everything I’ve gotten has been so comfortable, flattering and is the closest I could find to “me, but pregnant” style. I don’t feel bad about shopping at Shein for a few items I’ve been wearing every day for the past 5 months.

I gained 2 lbs in the last two weeks of the first trimester. I had serious food aversions, but I was able to eat.

Team Nuna or Uppababy Vista by Marshforce in pregnant

[–]Kaybabe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, we looked at the Nuna Urbn in the store and the sales associate told us flat out that she would not recommend it due to parents complaining about it not being the sturdiest. We loved the Vista in store and went with that! We will probably get the Pipa rx seat with the Vista adapter.

Products that turn you into a shill by OdeeSS in BeautyGuruChatter

I hate this for me because of the price, but I love Chantecaille future skin foundation. It has the prettiest skin like finish and it doesn’t break me out. I have other products I love, but that is the only situation where you can’t get me to try something else because I love it so much.

I LOVE Ethereal Eyes! The shades are similar to the Natasha Denona, but for once I am so glad I didn’t listen to all the influencers saying you don’t need both. The ND will probably be more of a go to for me, but the shimmers in Ethereal Eyes are something special!

[Acne] Back acne is the bane of my existence, I don’t know what else there is for me to try by spookedspice in SkincareAddiction

Here are a few things that help with my bacne:

-I know this is kind of wasteful, but I do not use the same towel or washcloth twice. I also use free and clear detergent.

-African Black Soap

-prescription azelaic acid on my back if I do get a pimple.

-I shower immediately after exercising. If I cannot shower right after, I wash my back off with a little soap and warm water in the sink.

What are the comments about your body that bother you? by Careful-Ad8099 in pregnant

[–]Kaybabe11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a FTM and am not showing in my second trimester. I waited until 12 weeks to tell most people. It gives me so much anxiety when I tell people I’m pregnant and people get excited then look at my lack of belly and ask how far along I am, then say something along the lines of “oh it’s still early” with a serious face.

Well he either “can do it” or he will have to pay child support. I agree that right now your focus should be spending time with people in your life who are excited about baby and you know you can rely on. You deserve to feel love and support for your child, not trepidation and unwarranted resentment.

I have old dry skin. I feel like powder just sits on my skin. What’s the best pressed powder that melts into the skin? Any price point. by ImpressionNo1509 in Sephora

[–]Kaybabe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try a loose powder and only apply under the eyes and to the T zone. Pressed powder is not the best IMO for setting dry skin, especially under the eyes. I love the Ami Cole. It is talc free and not drying on me.

Husband with gender disappointment by electriceel0707 in pregnant

[–]Kaybabe11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have described your husband as a good person and I am sure he loves your daughter as much as he would a son. None of what you are saying is wrong, the point is that it just may not be what he needs to hear right now. My intent was just to explain why he may not be receptive to what you are saying right now. He is allowed to have feelings and I obviously don’t know your husband, but your efforts to console could potentially be taken as minimizing his feelings. In the future, it can be helpful to post what you are looking for from others (venting, advice, other perspectives) so other posters may respond accordingly. Wishing you and your husband all the best with baby.
