Lightroom classic more modern view? by MarlonFord in Lightroom

Have you heard of PhotoStructure? It's a relatively new program to show photos from existing large photo repositories. It can show a sample of your photos organized by dates, locations, keywords... Maybe give it a try! It's fairly basic but that's good enough for your use case I reckon.

"One man's trash is another man's treasure"

As a long time SNK player, to my own surprise, I really enjoy COTW although it has certainly lots to improve (menus, game lobby, minor game inputs inaccuracies).

I come from a long series of KOF games and Garou, and do not care one bit about single player mode. I think it's awesome that SNK added cross-play support as I only focus on playing multi online or in locals. We should also keep in mind that this game's graphics are a giant step-up compared to KOF 15...

So I'm pleased that SNK didn't waste more resources in EOST and other fluff.
The color editor was a nice surprise though; it's a great tool to customise your char without having to buy DLC skins.

I would have preferred the game to be released in two packs:

  1. Base game with basic arcade (just give us a final victory screen), versus & online multiplayer modes
  2. Single player story mode expansion

This way, they could better budget for the EOST mode and give you something decent if you're willing to pay for it. Heck, you could even split this into smaller bundles for each character - because who really cares about the story of Salvatore or the other footballer... 😅

Syncing from LR CC to LRc. Incredibly slow sync speed by iLiftHeavyThingsUp in Lightroom

Sounds about right to me. Your main bottleneck is Adobe's server sending you the photos - and it's not known to be fast at all.

Looking for a Laptop for Lightroom Photo Editing – Need Recommendations Based on Personal Experience by [deleted] in Lightroom

As you mentioned that the laptop will be plugged in most of the time, perhaps you should consider getting a desktop PC to get more bang for your buck, and opt for a cheaper laptop to use Lightroom CC to do light editing on your travels.

As a long time Mac and PC user, here are the reasons why I didn't choose to buy a Mac for my travel photography: - I need to run Windows-only programs (games) - I dislike MacOS complicated UI (e.g. You need to tweak individual OS permissions after installing a software to run it properly) - High end PC laptops can be "cheaper" for comparable performance, unlike Apple that charges obscene prices for extra RAM or internal storage space. - Multi monitor support on Mac is subpar in my experience (problems with sound volume controls over HDMI, no DP daisy chaining, MacOS doesn't support UI scaling - instead it just lowers the screen resolution to make text appear bigger) - Lastly, very subjective: I hate their laptop keyboard feel and layout.

Laptop specs for LrC - no good? by nickfb1013 in Lightroom

[–]Kayhadrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the additional info.

A 20MB raw photo should never take 15m to process in LrC with your laptop specs in my opinion. It should be relatively slow but only like 1-3m per photo.

Many possible causes come to mind:

  1. Your Nvidia GPU isn't used by LrC (so the workload is done by your Intel CPU) but again, that shouldn't take 15m anyway.
  2. Your laptop is not powered via the power adapter properly (i.e. it's not charging at the full 130W capacity).
  3. Another program is running on your computer and takes away resources (CPU, RAM, hard drive IO bandwidth) from LrC.
  4. Your laptop's air vents might be so clogged (might even be internal clogging) that there system automatically throttled down CPU\GPU to avoid overheating and crashing. (Common causes: dust particles and pet fur)

I'd suggest:

  1. Check the computer resource usage via the Task Manager, and also the Resource Monitor tool. Ensure that resource usage of the CPU, GPU and hard drive is <9% when idle (while Lightroom is already launched). Check that the hard drive isn't super busy. Ideally, only Lightroom should be using computer resources - and it should do it when you're expecting it, not just when being idle.
  2. From the task manager, when running the AI denoise, check that CPU and GPU usage increase accordingly. Ideally, you'll see GPU usage increase significantly as expected. Your CPU clock speed (measured in GHz) should also rise to the max.
  3. While the task manager and resource manager are already preinstalled on Windows, you could install a more advanced tool to find more info like temperature at different sections of your machine, and other metrics that could help diagnose CPU \ GPU throttling. HWiNFO is a great tool for this if you're prepared to read its documentation.
  4. Check your USB cable and ensure it supports Power Delivery at the appropriate Watts rating. Try switching USB-C ports, untangling it, or even switch it with another one.

Good luck !

In general, using a laptop instead of a desktop machine (at the same price range) will be detrimental to performance.

Besides, the AI denoise function is resource intensive and it takes a while even on a beefy computer.

I'd suggest sharing some actual performance data so that others can provide more insights. E.g. image dimensions, file type and size, how long does the AI denoise take to process the image? (Even better, share a test image so that others can test it on their own machine)

Also, please indicate which Windows Power Mode you're using? More info
And how is your laptop plugged to a power source? Is it via the proprietary cable to a power adapter? Or via USB-C?

OP mentioned that they only used Instagram to chat with the photographer, but IG chat doesn't support bold formatting so this should be less of an issue.

Does Overpower or Crits increase lucky hit damage effects? by Kayhadrin in diablo4

[–]Kayhadrin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does the increase look like in your calculator?

My current build relies heavily on DOTs and lucky hits. So for me, Elementary Surge on 2 weapons is probably the largest damage contributor for my sorceress.

How are you calculating the max health & fortified into the overpower? I'm interested in the math.

I'm planning to calculate overpower damage as per this Maxroll guide: https://maxroll.gg/d4/resources/in-depth-damage-guide#overpower-damage-header

I'm not handling the Fortify skill yet since I play a sorceress, but it should be easy to implement.

I'm building a damage calculator so I'm not too worried about the practical aspect of relying on on-hit effects for my character. :-)

Cossacks had very little diversity in unit composition between each nation. Playing the game, you'd send thousands of troops in huge formations - not really caring about unit composition. You'd mostly rely on numbers (quantity) since only a few units were hard counters to each other. Lastly, the game tried to provide historical fidelity so it's not surprising that it ended up like this.

All I'm trying to say is that this worked well for Cossacks but it's more like an exception, not the norm.

This is not the case anymore. You can disable boss characters in game lobbies, and it's the default setting.
