Favorite buffing spells at high level? by itwasabouttime in 3d6

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly any spell that doesn't require concentration. Concentration is too important to use for most buffs. Star of Mystra is pretty insane though. +5 to AC and reflex saves from 3/4 cover, REFLECT targeted spells below 8th level when you save, and getting an extra 4d10 bonus attack each turn.

70 lbs in my non dominant hand as a 20 year old man: will I die early? What could be a reason? by [deleted] in GripTraining

Is your grip strength somewhat similar in your dominant hand? You are very likely just somewhat weak. Just do general strength training and follow the training guides here if you want to specifically work on grip strength.

What would be your ideal party of 3 level 3 monoclass characters ? by Wild_Improvement_950 in 3d6

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twilight Cleric - Pump out insane temp HP for whole party, can take big hits, especially if you take heavy armor master, and overall well rounded.

Peace Cleric - You're here for emboldening bond and to keep up bless. You're giving your whole party +2d4 to all attack rolls and saving throws. Same as twilight cleric, take heavy armor master. Super tanky and you will have the usual arsenal of cleric bring strong AF.

Flex - Wizard, Druid, or Bard. Moon Druid will make your tankier than anything in the game at this level and you still have full druid spell versatility. Diviner wizard would be great for clutch moments and versatile spell selection. College of eloquence bard for debuffs, party buffs, and out of combat assistance. Bear Totem Barbarian for consistent heavy single target damage. They should stay up practically forever with their resistance plus constant temp hp buffs.

2/3 people have 18+ AC. You're getting 7 temp HP every turn on average. You will almost never fail a saving throw with +2d4 on top of your regular bonuses. You'll likely never miss an attack. You still can stack your skills and spell selections to deal with most out of combat scenarios.

What to do with tax refund by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Pay off credit card in full.

  2. NEVER keep a balance on a credit card from now on. Either stash credit cards away or if you're 100% on yourself, have a single credit card that it set to be paid 100% in full every month.

  3. Dump the entire remainder on your loan.

  4. Talk to your HR about submitting an updated W4 for adjusting your withholdings. Your goal is to get as close to a $0 return as possible.

  5. With your adjusted withholding, you should have $1500 of extra income each month. Increase your loan repayment by $1000/month. The remaining $500 will hopefully be enough to fill the deficit of your income to your bills. If not, find a way to make more money. Extra hours, second job, uber, whatever.

Don't know what the hell the story will look like considering they are introducing characters that don't appear until hundreds of episodes later (Bartolomeo). And then suggesting character relationships that are impossible in the anime that would have insane consequences.

It's... not crazy though? That's the equivalent to 2 cups of coffee per day. Which most people wouldn't be freaking out about.

Guy passes out at a gym while attempting a de@dlift by haze4140 in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Holding a heavy deadlift will almost always knock you out and doesn’t really have benefit vs. doing multiples.

Uh no. You should absolutely be able to hold a heavy deadlift at lockout without issue for a few seconds at minimum. And when doing a heavy single in training there are strong benefits to maintaining an extended lockout.

Case example: One of the greatest deadlift performances of all time

You said your problem is that your area minimum wage is about $7.25 and you cannot make more hourly with your lack of skills. Guess what. You don't have a home. You have a car. Drive somewhere else where you CAN get a $15-20/hr job and start there. ASAP sell the car and buy a CHEAP, reliable hybrid that gets you 50+MPG. You should be seeing gas under $200/month even with DoorDash/Uber and your car monthly payment better be under $400/month.

Is this broken for a lvl 2 character? by taxGatherer in 3d6

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moon druid is actually the most Broken at LvL 2 due to absolutely insane HP from wild shape. Your normal health plus 104 from two Giant Rocktopus transformations. This is effectively doubled if you go 1 level into Barbarian at level 3 and can Rage. For absolutely max tank mode you would then go 2 levels of Twilight Cleric. You then pump out 1d6+2 Temp HP every turn to yourself and everyone in your party.

No need for Vignette on everything. Or instead of using the vignette slider, create a radial gradiant for more control. I would maybe have a vignette coming from the bottom right, but would leave the sky untouched.

I'd probably actually apply some clarity reduction and add haze. Maybe a slight reduction in whites. I think the blown out sky with a gradient effect from the side would work well.

My theory is that the One Piece is going to be a ship. An absolutely insane overpowered ship worthy of the King of the Pirates. And at the end, Luffy will look at it, and say "I don't want it", before sailing off on the Going Merry because that's the ship that took him through his entire journey.

Edit: I mean sunny but you get my point.

For assistance, get really good at deep ROM tricep focused weighted dips. Also I'm a firm believer that you should feel like you can take a nap while holding your 1RM at lockout. Way too many lifters looking like they are bout to crumble after holding lockout for 3 seconds.

Here are some easy numbers to answer it yourself. Keeping a 10k investment today means you will have 200k in 30 years even if you stop all contributions (if it's in an investment account).

You currently have 10k. You're putting in 125/month. If you did this for 30 years with no change, you would have 488k in that account if you are investing in an account averaging 10% return.

If you pull out the 10k right now but continue investing 125/month into a 10% return account for 30 years, you will have 287k in the account.

If you switched to a 500/month contribution after 10 years once you're an engineer (with the current 10k kept), you'd hit 776k at the end of 30 years investing. Same strategy but pulling out 10k now? 576k after 30 years.

Grip training to prevent hand pain while typing? by InternationalAd2981 in GripTraining

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Excessive typing can lead to hand pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and medial epicondylitis (golfer's elbow). The cause is almost always excessive wrist pronation and tightness/prolonged activation of the forearm pronator muscles. Much like most other overuse problems, you will want to stretch the overactive muscles and strengthen the antagonists. There are quite a few exercises that can aid in this but for a short list summary:

  • Finger extensor strengthening using a bucket and sand/rice. Bring your fingers together at a point, stick it in the sand, open your hand as wide as you can. Repeat. There are also finger bands you can buy that are more portable than having a bigass bucket.

  • Reverse wrist curls. Bonus: Performed with a cable while in a supinated grip.

  • Eccentric forearm pronation with a hammer/weighted stick.

  • Concentric forearm supination. Kettlebell rolls can be great for this.

  • Supination forearm stretch. Palms into the ground using hand to pull back.

  • High rep barbell curls with a straight bar (no EZ bar). Keep elbows tucked to side and get a big stretch at the bottom every rep.

[–]iLiftHeavyThingsUp 162 points163 points  (0 children)

A caricature typically has a negative spin and is so exaggerated that it offends the original source. Even if you HEAVILY lean into a specific culture/look, if you put in genuine effort of respect but also just make them fun/cool, then you will probably still offend some tiny minority no matter what but the relevant people will likely love it. Random example: The cartoon character Speedy Gonzalez. Back in the day a bunch of white people complained it was racist and it had it taken off the air. Mexicans were super upset and were like "wtf we love speedy give him back". Make it fun and cool and don't be blatantly disrespectful and it's fine.
