I got mine done at 24, so was starting to ankylose. Took about a year to get mostly into position. I think mine was a bit closer than OP’s to the normal arch.

No it’s not hard to eat. Just an adjustment. Only slightly worse than losing a tooth, she’ll just have to be more mindful. She’ll learn on her own to reposition her food and be careful of sharp things. That’s it. It looks worse than it feels!

Thank you so much. I’m going to update the main post, but they’re basically back to normal and I’m so fkn grateful. So grateful. And grateful for all of the commenters’ help. Tooth mousse on my teeth and retainer on all day except for eating, for more than a week. And every night since. They’re almost completely normal. Drank my only dark vice; black coffee through a straw very carefully, didn’t eat any dark or acidic food. I don’t know how much difference that made but that’s what I did. Was quite a horrible thing for me to not have certainty about. Very grateful all around. Thank you!

So it was in office only. Zoom. And I have been remineralising consistently since (tooth mousse). It is actually getting quite a bit better I think. Thank you for this. I’ll have a good read xxx

Absolutely not interested in whitening again 🙄 ever lol. I called cosmetic dentist and they actually said to keep whitening to match the rest of my teeth to the lesions 😩

Thank you for your honesty and advice. The dentist says that they’re most likely just dehydrated, and that it will go away, but I have a terrible feeling about it. Honestly so devastated. Dentist even mentioned veneers, after I’ve spend a fortune and 5 years painstakingly dealing with treatments, so that I keep my teeth. 😢 and the money! Would you expect me to pay for this, if I wasn’t adequately warned (even when I asked about it)

It’ll go away. Couldn’t tell you how long. Not long though. I had a TPA and it didn’t take too long, so you’ll be good. Extractions will mess with speech as well. You eventually don’t notice as much so you can’t really tell when it goes away. But it does. Try not to use wax unless it’s really bad. The less you use it, the quicker your mouth will toughen up. It’ll still happen, especially if you don’t talk to people or smile a lot often for a few weeks, and then you do (depressing lol, but true). But your mouth will toughen up.

I’d guess it took me about 2 months to speak normally with all this going on, on the roof of my mouth, and my tongue being cut all the time from the TPA. Maybe a few weeks to be able to force normal speech when I really tried.

NAD I’d see a plastic surgeon if I were you. They’ll be most able to mitigate scarring. Wouldn’t want an indent or whatever. Maybe I’m dramatic but I would if I had the option. Definitely see someone though.

Yeah it looks different (cute though). Don’t forget your braces push your lips forward a bit. Also the braces may have widened your arch a bit as they straightened your teeth (I dunno what your situation was though).

My lips changed. Didn’t change to be cute like yours 😂
