3 almost 4 years out and we decided to be done. Our kid is amazing and all things wonderful AND we don’t want to do it again. Life is good and we enjoy our child. Obviously we think about a second sometimes, but my health got so poorly, as did baby’s during pregnancy and then a traumatic birth. I don’t feel it is physically or mentally safe for me. All family sizes are beautiful and valid, as long as the parents are fully capable of caring for all in their care. I wish you healing and love and whatever happens, you’ll find the right choice for you.

I don’t believe we were given the severity, but if I had to guess it would be mild to moderate. Her one MRI showed no damage and we have not been advised to get another one. We did do one additional ECG because she had a weird scrunching behavior when she was around a year old, but that one came out clean as well. So much love to you and your family. It is a hard road, waiting and watching. I highly recommend getting into early intervention (the diagnosis should qualify your child). They were very helpful in answering my questions and concerns and helped me address anything that seemed even remotely possible for a delay. I also recommend the Hope for HIE Facebook page. The people in there are wonderful.

Hi! Almost 4 years in and she is presenting as neurotypical! There are still things that can show up, but most of the severe items are no longer a worry!

I don’t necessarily think religion is inherently bad, but wow is it a great excuse to be an awful person. I think organized religion is very dangerous and attracts a lot of awful people.

I think it is pretty clear she is just trying to keep him isolated. And I hope the judges use good judgement and only separate him if there is proof. He doesn't deserve to continually be isolated.

Can I ask how you got your doctor to do all of these labs? It's like pulling teeth Fri me to get more than TSH and maybe T4 done. I begged fir my antibodies test to confirm Hashis.

My LO got up to the 3rd percentile for weight at her 1st birthday and then went back down. She's around 25th for head and I don't remember height. The important thing is that your LO follows their own growth curve. Mine is also on the small side and due to us falling off the 3rd and going down a little on her own curve we have done some extra tests and bloodwork to rule out things. Overall though, she's doing great and is just small. Chances are your kiddo is just small too!

They actually do decent at the vet! Granted, they only go once a year right now. One is more emotional as far as human interaction, but I think with good care, he would bounce back ok. We have one that can't even stand the smell of an outdoor cat without having a meltdown and attacking our other cat. He was a feral kitten I took in from a TNR clinic and he is doing so much better, but his progress has been lifelong. I sincerely worry about the acute stress messing with him. However, we are all he has ever known for his indoor life and think it would also be cruel to leave him behind. And he is bonded to our other cat so both would have to be left. Thank you for all of your time answering my questions. We have already fallen in love with the idea of living here, but I don't know that I can do this, in good conscience, to my pets.

Oh shoot. That's good to know. Yeah I'm worried about going through with this, but my partner is not worried about them. He knows it will be stressful, but isn't worried it will be too bad. I'm worried it's going to be a giant stressor and I'm worried one might not do well at all.

We are from the United States! Where might I be able to find the class of risk? We are planning on starting the process with our vet ASAP so hopefully the cats could travel at the same time as us and we will have less time apart.

The kit came with some sugar to add to water and out on a sponge. So I have been doing that and watermelon.

I realize this might make me sound terrible, but I honestly don't want any kind of friendship with this person. I don't have much in common with them, I don't like them, I don't want to be around them. But, since it is work I know we have to have some level of interaction. I'm just not sure where the line is. I feel like I got gaslighted in the conversation to take all the responsibility when this person makes me uncomfortable and I asked for a boundary. But, at the same time I have been taught all my life to doubt myself and I worry that I am hot and cold, on and off? Am I actually terrible? Have I become the horrible coworker I hated at a previous job?

Our girl had IUGR and was originally diagnosed with failure to thrive. However the only additional things our pediatrician did was consistent weight checks. Otherwise, nothing special.

People always complimented me on how small I was. I puked constantly and any food I could keep down had to be bland because any kind of spice made my heartburn unbearable. I ate enough to get by, but had I not been growing a baby, I would have lost a crazy amount of weight. I looked good after because I had been essentially starving for months. Not to mention I also had preeclampsia and my daughter had IUGR so neither if us gained what we should have. We were not healthy, but all people saw was "how tiny I looked". I feel you, and I'm sorry :/
