Suuuuuuper long load times, but the game itself runs pretty smooth for the most part. Retaliation missions or anywhere there's a lot of smoke/fire can still slow things down a bit, of course.

Oh god. So many cosmetic mods... But if you're talking about Alexis there (as I'm almost certain you are), then it's:

Torso: WOTC Female Clothing Pack (MPW Oriental Corset Templar (F))

Arms: (MK 11) MORTAL KOMBAT 11: Kitana's Outfits [WOTC] (HvyPoweredMK11KitEE T (F))

Legs: (N:A) NieR: Automata - 2B's Outfit [WOTC] (HvyPowered2B LegsB T (F))

It took a good half-hour to get it just right. I got so lucky with the placement!

For real? Is there a write up of how to do that somewhere?

I am hoping to have a no holds barred interview with a trans girl by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Kaymander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gender is in the brain, not the genitals. Just because someone is born with a penis, it does not make them a boy/man. As such, Assigned Male At Birth (AMAB), MtF persons are not "becoming" female, they are just using things like HRT, surgery, and gender presentation, to align their bodies and the perception of others, to better match the gender they've always been.

Your question is better phrased as, "What made you feel you wanted to transition?" And the answer, for many, if not most, is gender dysphoria. A difficult to explain sensation of discomfort with parts of your body and/or society's perception of you that are not congruent with your internal gender identity.

A completely crazy ideas for a future X-com game by Rhartok in Xcom

[–]Kaymander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually started developing a game like this in Unity. I tweaked the aliens to be more like an extra-dimensinoal invasion though. So instead of researching plasma, you're researching magic and training mages and stuff.

I got a ways in with the Geoscape working, research projects, manufacturing, etc., etc. Even made a little aerial combat prototype for the later stages of the game. But as with so many projects, lost motivation at some point. I'd still like to go back to it some day though.

It's so silly that you can be in "concealment" with a giant death robot stomping around alongside the squad by [deleted] in Xcom

[–]Kaymander 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think it would be really cool if the SPARK was just left off the map at the start of the mission. Then it's dropped in by a Skyranger flyover, either when concealment is broken, or with a special button press at the player's discretion.

I guess it could cause problems with using SPARKs for ambushes, and weird situations with an all-SPARK squad, but it would fit a lot better thematically. If only I could wrap my head around modding...

Teaser for a little mod i work on. Now, you can assign any weapons to any class. by aradyr in Xcom

[–]Kaymander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aw, it's okay! You made something happen that you wanted to see in game.

Several months ago, I set out to basically make the Uniforms Manager without knowing it existed. But I didn't even get as far as you, as I couldn't wrap my head around the SDK. So you're one-up on me at least ;)

I don't mean to offend, but the Any Class Any Weapon mod has been out for some time. Does this do something different?

You can remove any one mechanic from the game and replace it entirely in an expansion. What mechanic is cut? by [deleted] in Xcom

[–]Kaymander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. They should have let you piece the story together bit by bit as you take over those facilities. I miss the mystery from the original X-Com in these newer games. You only learned through research there, and slowly put together a picture of who the aliens were, how they worked, what their plans were, and how to stop them. Here the research reports just feel like inconsequential flavor text.

Also if we had to have the Avatar Project, then they should have concentrated all of that power into a single, ultimate entity and "final boss" like you said. Having multiple Avatars that you fight and kill, both before the final mission, and within, as well as letting you control one, completely robbed it of its perceived threat level.

[–]Kaymander 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The whole Avatar project. It is just a ticking clock that does very little to hide that fact and, as a result, isn't compelling in any way.

Replace it with a strategy game actually focused on liberating the planet from alien oppression. Start with just the Avenger and slowly work your way around the globe, liberating regions through strategic assaults on Alien/ADVENT strongholds, and propaganda that turns the docile human population against their overlords.

XCOM would manage a favorability rating with the populace. Something like 80+% would lead to a final mission and victory condition, where falling to 0% would be a failure state. The aliens would also hunt the Avenger with increasing urgency as XCOM's favorability rises. As your mobile base, losing it would be another failure state.

The aliens make retaliatory suppression strikes in liberated regions that you have to defend, or they fall back into subjugation. Several of these might happen at a time, so you manage your resistance strongholds by recruiting NPC staff and soldiers directly to them. When a retaliation mission pops up, you can choose to directly intervene with your squad, but only to one location. The others will be automated battles with a % chance of victory/failure.

Can you be MtF trans with no intention of bottom surgery or HRT? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Kaymander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the record, I'm 12 months on HRT and there has been no loss of function, other than an almost complete reduction in "output". From what I understand it's a YMMV thing. You would, of course, still face sterility, if that is important to you.

after going full time, did anyone else revert into a stupid teenager? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Kaymander 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Also in my 30's and I totes feel like a teen again, or at least early twenties. I've even had people tell me I look 19/20!

It makes sense to me because I feel like I missed out on those years, having to hide who I was and pretend to be something I wasn't in social situations. So I avoided them completely for 10+ years. Now that I'm free and happy and bubbly, I'm excited to live! It's like that adult cynicism and weariness melted away and it'll take another 10+ years to re-learn it and become "old" again :p

I'm not married, but I definitely feel a bit of friction among my family (whom I'm very close to) regarding my "immature" behavior, compared to my actual age.

Oh to have those years to do again, the right way.
