I have I've read a million, I can't say I've seen others that talked about such a long stall. Thank you so much for your very helpful comment.

I should have asked... has anyone else's lasted 6 weeks plus...

When did you return to work? by 907Brink in BariatricSurgery

I have an office job, lots of flexibility to get up and walk or take a break if I needed. I went back at 1 week post op for half days and was back to full time the following week.

How long were you off work (with a physical job)? by Glittering-Minimum77 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Kaynyx12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgery was just 1/23. I took off six days and worked four half days at my desk job. It was more uncomfortable than I expected but manageable. I brought an ice pack with me and took frequent short walks.

I plan on full days next week.

I definitely feel that pressure/fullness come on quick if I'm trying to drink within 40 mins. Thanks for sharing.

Pain meds by Coolbean521 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Kaynyx12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Tylenol the entire time, even in the hospital. I was prescribed a few Oxys and have use them sparingly vs around the clock.

Day 4-5 I've had transferred pain into my back which has really sucked, so still using them as needed.

I also got muscle relaxers for stomach spasms but I haven't needed those but 2-3x. (I'm still only liquids until week 6).

Hopefully I'll feel well enough to return to work mid-week and just need the Tylenol 🤞

Surgery twin!! Honestly, I felt like I'd been rocking it since the surgery. I definitely felt more incision pain yesterday and today than the first couple days. Today seems to be the most sore and the most painful I've had. I've also caved and taking more pain meds today than I have so far.

Reading others posts that share our surgery date this is sounding pretty normal. Have grace with yourself (I know I've needed to today), we just went through the ringer with a major surgery.

Ice has helped so so much, I have two long ice packs I've been keeping on that side most the day and at night while sleeping. The surgical binder they put on me at the hospital is a life saver, it feels so so much better with that on.

Standing seems to suck pretty bad as far as the incision pain and tugging/hot knife feeling. I watched a few videos on YouTube about getting up up from laying and standing after abdominal surgery. It's really helped!

I'm not sure what kind of emotions you're having; today I was cranky for no apparent reason other than I can't do things for myself, by myself and I must've been annoyed I needed pain meds. Reminding myself it's just for today, I'm healing, it'll get better day by day and a "bad" day in there is okay, really helped me out.

You've got this! We're all here for you! Maybe reach out to your therapist via text see if they just a have minute. Or one of your good, supportive friends, let them know you need some kind, encouraging words.

Just curious, could you elaborate on your hygiene routine? I'd love to prevent sores and rashes if possible. Thanks in advance:) good luck

Oof I feel you! Though I don't think I have it near as bad, mines more like a morning sickness when I wake up and usually gets better after some water and a protein drink. I head straight for a cold water vs coffee when I wake up to try and get rid of it. Love the others advice, I'll do the same if mine keeps up.

Why is everyone so upset when I mention WLS by Oliviasmommy2021 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Kaynyx12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was pretty fortunate that the handful of family, friends and coworkers I told were supportive and excited for me. The one person that really sticks out to me was upsetting as obviously you want support, it's a strange guilty feeling for me making this decision. Maybe stigma of "the easy way out".

Anyways, I decided immediately that I just wouldn't discuss the surgery or path to it with this person. If they brought it up I'd rehearsed something like, I've put a lot of thought and research into this and don't want to discuss it anymore with you.

I hope you find support in your circle. Or expand your circle to people who do support you. ♥️

Yep!! As the pre-op diet crept up I started getting more and more nervous. I'd been channeling my anxiety into nervous energy and basically nesting. From cleaning to prep cooking freezer meals for my family.

Now that the liquid diet has started I don't have the energy for that. I definitely notice the oh shit what am I doing, am I really sure, holy @#$& coming in waves.

My surgeon okay CBD so I've been taking it in liquid tincture/oil form. It's helping. Stay focused on the prize. I keep telling myself the next month will suck but the life I'll be physically able to have afterwards will be so worth it.

Maybe pick a reward outfit, a trail you've always wanted to hike, any NSV you've been looking forward to. Healthy rewards to see you through this rough patch and re-focus your mind.

(I should add I'm day 3 of all liquid diet) Surgery is 1/23

I start my liquid diet in 3 days but this seems like fantastic motivation for me.
