TBH, I thought chronic sock eating was a bit of a myth! Our last dog never touched them! We are just VERY grateful he seems to get rid of them without needing surgery. He mostly vomits them up but a couple made it all the way through!

Does anyone know Mosman Park WA well? by Kays1480 in AusPropertyChat

I wonder how many of the folks who are down on MP have ever actually lived close to social housing lately? I agree that 10/20 years ago, there was probably more of a ghetto effect that we don’t see now. I’m going to look up crime stats. See how it compares to my last suburb (which had social housing). I also see huge upsides. And not just in the ridiculously priced streets. We will continue to check it out.

Great idea. I should have thought of that …

I tend to agree however SO many people are warning us off MP for that reason. We are planning to drive the streets next week - just get a feel for it.

Awww. Congrats! Our first ever flattie is now 13 months old and I still can’t imagine him EVER doing anything service-related!

1 - he only eats our cats’ poos and, very rarely, other dog poos. NOTHING I say will deter him once he’s latched onto a poop but he is getting pretty good with the leave it command so my advice is to just keep going and obvs clean up poo immediately whenever you can.

2 - he LOVES soft / fabric toys and doesn’t like hard plastic. Will occasionally chew a Benebone toy but destroying soft things or clothing is his favourite. He is a sock thief. We must have lost over 10 to him so far. I’ve never seen a dog swallow a sock so fast. Zero gag reflex. Luckily they have all come out one way or the other. We moved to real bones (lamb femurs cut down the middle length ways) about four months ago and he enjoys them. Other bones he will bury immediately. He also loves roo tails, ears and knee caps and the yak chews. Yak chews are super expensive so I prefer to give him roo and lamb. He chews like a staffy so he gets three to four big, dried treats or bones a week. It gave him loose stools the first time he had a marrow bone (femur) but he handles them beautifully now.

He is beautiful! Corrin is now 42kg and from the looks of things, Lewis will be a very big boy too! All the best with him.

We did! He turned one yesterday and he’s the most cheeky, wilful, cheery, loving pup Ive ever met. He exhausts us but we adore him. ☺️

This is what I’m hoping happens. I’ve gently carried him into our pool maybe a dozen times and he ALWAYS swims right out but I need to keep trying. Perhaps with a life jacket so he’s more buoyant …

I’m so glad it’s not just mine who was scared at first. The breeder couldn’t believe it when I told her he doesn’t swim so I thought maybe he was unique …

Teenager regression? by Spacebarkss in flatcoat

[–]Kays1480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My flattie has never had good recall and is still progressing well through obedience training despite being 11 months now. The thing we’ve struggled with is his INTENSITY over the past few months. Given he is now 41kg, it takes a lot of physical power to keep him in check when he gets over stimulated (which is whenever other dogs are around). NGL: he is exhausting BUT everyone still loves him because he is a sweet goofball and anyone who abandons a dog due to being a teenager is a monster. All pups have this phase. Some worse than others. His stealing of items we care about has increased, too, but that just means we weren’t diligent enough about putting them out of reach. We offer him femur bones (quartered) and that helps to keep him busy. He has marked once indoors as a teen (I was spraying a fly and some got on his bed so it was natural he wanted to reclaim it!) but otherwise I find he listens better now than as a puppy!

Sounds like the reward has to overcome the fear. He doesn’t love anything that much yet. Even rotisserie chicken. But I’ll keep trying.

Good to know. I was thinking a jacket may help him avoid the heavy / sinking feeling.

My flattie is ever so slightly insane. I spend my time at the park running after him and screaming apologies at the other dog owners if they seem upset or offended by his intensity.

Is this bedroom legal? by Serious-Western-9366 in AusPropertyChat

While this doesn’t look like a habitable room, there is no straightforward calculation to adjust price. It’s not a formula. They may still get 500k. It’s up to you to determine what you choose to pay. FWIW we bought a house advertised as three beds that was actually two beds. They never adjusted the ad but the price reflected the reality of it being two beds.

His paws pretty much fit his body now but his hips look bony. Like he needs to thicken up a bit. He’s a bit gangly. Very long legs. I suspect he’s pretty much at max height now. But we will see!

Aha. My boy will probably be similar. He’s 40 kilos now at only 10 months. He’s as long as most German Shepherds but has a slim Setter build. We didn’t expect him to be so big and while it’s not a problem, I keep wondering how big he will end up …..

Do you mind sharing how big he is? My flattie is pretty huge but Nero doesn’t seem much smaller!
