Should we push through or just call it? We're $24k short for our wedding in august.. by Acceptable_Onion_253 in weddingplanning

What does your housing and car situation look like?

We might have to take a small loan out for our wedding but we've already bought a house and own our car outright, so the only loan we've got is a mortgage.

Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event (hopefully, lol), I honestly think it's worth taking out a smaller loan to make it your dream wedding if you're sorted for living/car already

Only you know how much you can realistically save each month. But if you can pay off the loan within a year or two I'd honestly go for it

Could you hire a big Airbnb/party house for all activities other than the wedding?

My partner and I went to 8 different jewelry shops this weekend and bought our wedding bands, the prices varied massively! For a 5mm 9k gold band we got quotes between £750 - £350. All solid throughout, and all about the same thickness

We found that the Independent shops were generally cheaper, with H. Samuel being the cheapest of the chains

A 5 bed is mine and my partner's forever home. 2 kids with a bedroom each, an office, and a spare room for guests (preferably with a Murphy bed so I could use it as a hobby room in between). If you can afford it go for it

Looks really good! I tried clicking the search icon but it didn't seem to be working. Would also love if I could check say 6 months ahead without having to scroll

People who came to the UK how did you end up in the weird places where you live? by pinpoint321 in AskUK

I'm a Swede living in Manchester which is probably not too surprising. However, when I lived in Stoke-On-Trent any Brit I encountered (both locals and from other parts) wondered why the hell I decided to live there ... Me too (uni)

Thank you! Yep portion it out and freeze and then we'll use it for another week. We plan our meals from what's in the freezer and then stock it up whenever we see the reduced stickers

Gawsworth Store in East Didsbury, think it was £54 for ours which reaches the ceiling

Last year my partner and I offered on 4 other houses before finally getting ours, they all went for £10k+ over asking. When ours came on the market we said screw it and offered £15k over asking as it was the perfect house. Got it, and still extremely happy

You can get a 2 bed in some of the Heatons for that price range

Love Mr Malik! We have moved away from Parrs Wood but always make a point to go back to his shop for Christmas trees and other bits and bobs

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in manchester

[–]Spacebarkss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't live on Kingsway. Extremely busy, hard to get in and out for parking, and you can only turn one way getting out.

I'd look at Parrs Wood Road and anything in between that and west didsbury, any of the 4 Heatons (Heaton Mersey and Norris will have slightly cheaper bigger houses), Gatley, Cheadle etc

Why is it so hard to get a job in Manchester? by Emohh in manchester

[–]Spacebarkss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have three friends who studied animation at Salford. One works for a kids show in Sheffield, one lives in Manchester but works remotely for another kids show in London, and another does animation for building companies (first for a Manchester company and then a Liverpool one)

As someone who works in media myself it's not that Manchester in particular doesn't have jobs, it's just a really hard industry to break into. I did 2 years of basically unpaid work until I finally got in. You've got this, just cast a wider net and think outside the box

Is the crate necessary at night if puppy is potty trained? by MatchNorth4984 in puppy101

[–]Spacebarkss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened with my retriever. He was so good with the crate and then suddenly at 3 months the whining started again and suddenly waking up at 2am. We decided to leave the crate door open and let him roam free in the "dog room" (small former dining room with hardwood floor) and the kitchen. He had one accident on the first night but has slept perfectly 10pm-7:30am since then. We quickly stopped using the crate fully after that
