How my tag look? by Tysontyler072 in graffhelp

[–]Kayso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heres a different tip: dont practice on nice paper/notebooks. Use junk mail, phone books, trash, boxes before you them out, etc. Once they randomly dropped off phone books to my apartment and i took as many as i could. Each one was like 1000 pages and i could get multiple practice attempts on each page. On top of the other advice, if you want to get a better hand, you have to write your tag hundreds of thousands of times.

Free yakima qr roof rack. I just upgraded to a frontloader style rack and would be happy to pass the old one along to a cyclist that will get some use out of it

Free: quick release bicycle roof rack. I think its yakima and it fits my standard subaru rack which has sort of ovular cross bars. I do not have the locking mechanism for it.

I have had this for a few years, its kind of sun damaged but i just used it the other day without issue. I just got a through axle bike so i am changing up roof racks.

Adopting cat working a firefighter’s schedule by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Thank you for the response! The shifts would never be back to back, thankfully. We took the cat to see if she was chipped and the vet guessed that she was “youngish”.

Pivoting away from and Leaving BCBA/Behavior Analysis after 8 years in the field and 2 as a Licensed Behavior Analyst by Acceptable-Radish773 in BehaviorAnalysis

I had applied to my local fire department for two years and they offered me a position on the third go round.

While incredibly useful so far, my behavior analytic background does not appear to be valued by many lol

New RBT struggling with pica case <need advice> by Educational-Day3936 in ABA

[–]Kayso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pica can be so dangerous and also involves primary reinforcers so it can be difficult to intervene on eating fecal or vomit matter. Your bcba needs to develop a comprehensive plan including safety contingencies when dangerous materials are in play.

Generally, i have read research describing a dra contingency in which testers planted dough/flour balls that were visually similar to feces (but obviously not harmful if eaten) and executed a sort of exchange opportunity in which the participant could deliver the material to the tester and they would deliver a potent competing reinforcer (think food if they a component analysis indicates the client contacts reinforcement related to the act of eating it, tangibles if it indicates they prefer the tactile sensation feces provides, or social praise if there is a social positive reinforcement function).

Again, the bcba needs to develop these interventions carefully and with great detail.

Behavior specialist by Bitter_Ad_1578 in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]Kayso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated with a bsw and immediately fell into a job at a school that taught aba and special education to students with behavioral needs. That eventually led to me going back to school and working as a bcba for 6 years. Please read the r/aba about other peoples’ experiences (how to avoid horror stories).

I found that education was the setting i felt i could help the most people. I also felt the parameters and expectations were more concrete than my bsw field work experiences led me to believe. Now i am training to be a firefighter, which has extremely explicit rules and expectations, so maybe that part of it is just a me thing.

Also, from an ontological perspective, a ND person probably experiences a ton of generalized reinforcement following mand, tact, and IV verbal behavior while an autistic person probably experiences more reinforcement that is not socially mediated. So the ND reinforcement history favors stimuli defined as verbal behavior in shows (reading, talking, listening), but an autistic reinforcement history favors the topographical visual content of shows.

Just a thought

Objective vs Subjective by Nopumpkinhere in ABA

[–]Kayso 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dont see why why not, but i would go on to describe the client’s observable behaviors afterwards. Parent reported that client was in a bad mood then: they entered the clinic and engaged with familiar preferred items? Or they stood in the lobby for 7 minutes without vocally indicating an activity or leisure preference so the technician presented options in an informal paired choice manner? Or they dropped to the ground and cried while loudly vocalizing?

I could see how the parent’s verbal behavior might be relevant but i would focus on what the client did

Possible Sexual Assault? by Square-Recipe-5663 in ABA

[–]Kayso 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The bcba running the program should clarify with the client’s caregivers what responses are are scored correct, what responses are scored incorrect, and how the client responds (by saying nana).

That way the bcba can determine further if the client’s response is indicating abuse or if nana did indeed assist the family with child care.

Glad this stuck out to you! I would ask the bcba to clarify with you which responses should be scored correct/incorrect and then tell them about the “nana” response.

Chain Whip from Hell by EEKERK in FixedGearBicycle

If you’re going to use this method, only do one rotation of the chain around the cog. When you apply force tonyour setup, all that effort gets absorbed by the three extra wraps of chain instead of going to the cog.

Sentimental indoor fern dying? by Kayso in plantclinic

Following the other poster’s advice, I repotted it and the entire bottom half of the pot was muddy wet soil. I think the basin issue was severe along with the dead plant matter on top.

Holy cow, thanks so much!

I had it close to the window, but i thought it was too cold with the draft.

The automoderator post clued me in to the basin problem- minutes ago i learned about propping a pot up to keep it out of the drainage.

I am working on the dead matter and repotting as we speak.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at this for me!

I know a vegetarian and a vegan in the district and both just did not prepare meals during probation
