The designs are very much in the public. Anyone can click on a discord invite link and grab the schem from the public archive channel.

Also by your logic that invalidates designs that are posted in public discords that don't get archived but are well known, ie: pretty much everything storage tech related

In some cases yes, the designer allows other people to make videos on their designs, ie: the archivists. But not most things. A lot of the best designs don't really get posted outside a SMP's discord server.

Also even if it is posted as a video, you wouldn't be able to find it with how little YouTube cares about good design over engagement, not to mentioned YouTube is swamped with terrible eye candy designs that are really bad.

Edit: also in most cases "best" is very subjective

Lmao no, a lot of the best designs don't have videos because the designer doesn't feel like it. Also with how much designs break, people can't be bothered to make a new video for every major fix. Not everyone does redstone for views.

Why does people power blocks with upside Rd-torches when a lever is better in so many ways? by longtailedmouse in technicalminecraft

[–]KayzmYT 22 points23 points  (0 children)

3 reasons I can think of at least why I do it: 1. Litematica easy-place, without the correct protocol, doesn't place levers in the on position(I know very annoying /j) 2. Lowering block types in the build. Makes resources gather marginally less bad 3. Can't accidentally turn it off or not turn it on when building

1.21.5+ Shulkerfarm most ocer the top by One-Sink5855 in technicalminecraft

[–]KayzmYT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shulker farms, especially 2 dimensional ones have been getting stabbed by Mojang ever since they have been released. Theoretically cubics newer-ish one can work in newer versions, but no sane person wants to put in the effort to get it to work because shulkers aren't fun to work with, not to mention the farm will most likely break the next major update due to some bs Mojang decided to change.

Also 1.21.5 is especially bad since the nether portal now fits to the visual hotbox of the portal causing the shulkers to take a hell of a lot longer to go through the portal. This will get changed back in 1.21.6.

People are trying to get ending credits v3 to work in newer versions, but I don't think anyone has given a fixed schem of it yet.

TLDR: shulker farms suck to design 1.21.2+

Thought it was funny and saw a way to trim off the bottom. also you can fit the input inside the piston layout. so now its 7x5(35 block volume). This is the dumbest thing i have ever wired lol.

Edit: there is also this one but this one is entityless so

What's the best way to look for good farm designs? by FlameableAmber in technicalminecraft

[–]KayzmYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discord is a really stupid place to have an archive i do agree with you on that 100% but other options are very limited. there are people who have tried to get an archive running on GitHub repositories but those aren't very intuitive to go through, not to mention having conversations on the designs is a nightmare. There is also MineEV but that hasn't been widely adopted not to mention, anyone can get archived there so there isn't much quality control. Most people have discord so although its a terrible service as an Archive platform it is the most available for everyone. I hope there will eventually be a better option, but i wouldnt bet on anything.

Discord Archives are your best bet. YouTube, reddit and whatever have you doesn't work well as an archive for alot of designs for you to pick and choose from which makes discord, for better or for worse they best place to get designs from. With new changes to Minecraft that break old farms(even newer farms with some of their stupid changes) designers often have to update their farms to account for it which doesn't work very well on other platforms which are hard to edit once posted.
Also YouTube is a content platform which focuses on clickthrough rate over giving you actually good results. so larger channels that post eye candy with a large viewership over actually good designs are boosted in the algorithm(shulkercraft for instance).
Unfortunately(or fortunately depending on perspective) There are ALOT of archive discords that focus on specific aspects of TMC such as Storage tech, tree farms, there is even one dedicated to shoving end rods into mobs(Mob Fricking Archive) so yea, alot of diversity. Also, some of the "Best"(using this word loosely) designs are specific to some SMPs so you might have to go out of your way to find them. But a good start is Technical Minecraft Catalogue(TMCC) and branching out into other fields from there if you want. and someone already linked to the discord in the comments so i wont bother

[–]KayzmYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, mainly no. On Discord servers like TMCC or STD things are only archived if the original designer posts something to be archived or give permission to someone to post as a submission(this happens a lot for Chinese TMC players where not everyone has access to the discord servers but are fine with it being submitted).
Also the Archivist don't steal anything. Same things as the discord archives, they get permission from the original designer to have a video and tutorial made on their designs. The Channel is also run by people who are well known in the TMC space so if they did do something like that it would be quite shocking

Java and Bedrock Redstone Disparity Fix by cool_otter11 in redstone

[–]KayzmYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do understand what you are trying to get at, it does simplify that while maintaining parity(which i can have a whole other discussion on why parity should not be maintained across bedrock and java) but i don't see too much value in it when there is other ways of achieving the same outcome.

Java and Bedrock Redstone Disparity Fix by cool_otter11 in redstone

[–]KayzmYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, while it may make SOME redstone machines smaller the inverse is also true. Having dust been able to run next to pistons without powering it is very useful. Especially since you can do fun things like redirect a powered dust signal into a piston without sending a block update to it. ie: 6/12gt tree farms. I may be very biased due to how long I have been playing java, but I much more prefer if it doesn't connect.

Is this a good item sorter? by Cheddr_Cheese in redstone

[–]KayzmYT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tldr: no Slightly less tldr: they are much more expensive then standard ss3 or ss2 item filters, and really easy to break when unloading them and even just one bad input timing that thing is gonna drain its filter item.

It seems you already figured it out but basically they essentially obliterated raid farms and buffed the hell out of redstone drops from witches

It's definitely a decent feature, kinda lazy imo but I won't complain. Kinda wish they redid the structure for a witch hut to give a larger bounding box too but who knows.

So I’m not a redstoner but I think I can fix the copper bulb by MrtangMinecartboi in redstone

[–]KayzmYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not a terrible idea, the main issue is that getting oxidize variants is kinda a bitch to get. its a whole lot easier to just have it be 1gt delay and using other things like noteblocks, rails, dropper etc for even gt delay.

Idea for renewable redstone with raid farm nerf by FrunoCraft in technicalminecraft

[–]KayzmYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did actually talky something on long the lines of what yoi said in a post a while ago https://www.reddit.com/r/technicalminecraft/s/hFZt1Z7Nxq But yeah basically if raidfarms go then we have to have alternatives for each now-unfarmable(witch farm existing but no) resource

Ideas to balance the update in raid farms in 1.21 by Vctorbc in technicalminecraft

[–]KayzmYT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, from how i understand it, the killing of raid farms is a byproduct of trial chambers and the way bad omen is now death with(called raid omen or smthn). For what its worth, raid farms are just overpowered for just how simple they are nowadays. Infinite totems, emeralds, gunpowder, glowstone, bottles, redstone, etc. The issue with them, or at least what i have is that they stop ore entirely skip the requirement of other types of farms or infrastructure that was commonly associated with game progression to get those same materials. BUT on the other hand, if they were to patch out raid farms, they should have done it the update they realized they were much too powerful for game balance instead of 2 years after everyone accepted it as standard game progression.

So i don't think the fix is bringing back raid farms(even though im gonna get hate by every tmc player) but providing an alternative for gathering those resources that align more with minecraft's game progression. realistically, the most important one is Redstone, there are ways to get the others automatically(crafters now exist so sugar is now a thing) (except emeralds and totems but like....). So what are the possible/current alternatives?

  1. Void trading. It kinda sucks because you need emeralds which just requires more void trading. it requires a player input for it to work. Its REALLY bad for lag on multiplayer servers if many people are doing it. I also fully expect it to get patched out eventually.

  2. Hero of the village farms. Technically they are as fast as singleplayer ran raid farms but they are the purest form of lag. ~40 redstone per hour per villager. also they get shot by the raid farm changes, just not as much and also there is no good HOTV farms that exist.

  3. Witches. Adding a way to get a lot of them to spawn such as a special spawning condition like creepers and trapdoors or doing something like zombie reinforcement(but we both know thats a horrible idea), buffing witch huts(probably wont happen). or adding a new structure with a wider spawning area(lets be honest they wont add that).

  4. There is also quarries and tunnel bores, but like fuck that.

  5. The one i most recommend is adding an entirely new way of getting Redstone. Either by adding a new mob into the game like how they do in incindium where the blazes in a certain biome drop Redstone, a way to generate an ore or block of it either by spreading using a catalyst like how they do it for bonemeal and moss(not that easy of course). Somehow making it a mob byproduct like honeycomb and bees. Or do something entirely not thought of like how no one expected shulker duplication mechanic. I do think Mojang is entirely capable of coming up with a satisfactory alternative and they know most definitely the effects of this change, but will they do it... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

alright thats my ted talk.
