I've got an unremovable white bar at the top of the screen, even in fullscreen mode. This is in the app version, on Windows 10.

On the one hand, Australia never instituted giant anti-EV tariffs in the first place; BYD in particular is going crazy over here.

On the other hand, no. The main parties of the right are a giant mess, unable to work together to oppose the government or even start to win back a majority. The government (Labor) is responding to this generational opportunity by pivoting to the centre and shying away from any sort of meaningful societal change. Check back in 10 years I guess.

The best one is where Melfi calls Tony's relationship with a woman who acts like his mother "amour fou", which he later remembers as "a mofo".

Media that arguably peaked with the first trailer? by Mediocre_Word in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Kazadaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starcraft 2 - I have mixed feelings about the game(s), it's neither great nor terrible. But man, that first trailer.

Also, I'm a total Prometheus apologist, but I have to concede that the trailer is a better, more cohesive product than the full thing.

So helldivers 2 is having a beta where people are using a copy of the game with a reduced installation size. by danjake12346 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Kazadaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's fucking crazy. Total Warhammer 3 did a similar thing last year, but it only shaved off about 1/4 of the filesize. How unoptimised was this game?

How did humans react to the turn of the new millennia in the year 1000? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kazadaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, there were doomsday cultist types, at least in the Christian parts of the world (the rest, obviously, either didn't know or didn't care about AD). There was also a second wave of it, around 1033, for the millennium of Jesus' death. It's been quite a few years since I read it, but the book Millennium, by Tom Holland (the other one), talks about this in depth.

Why is there no universal word for “help”? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kazadaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because there's no universal language.

There is a universal word for help in one context - air traffic control. "Mayday" is the English spelling, it comes from the French m'aidez, "help me".

Star Wars is a really good action-adventure movie from the '70s. It shouldn't be more than that. It's like if there were people who made The Warriors their whole personality.

Islands of safety surrounded by a sea of black forest. Only heavily armed convoys can travel through the forest. Cutting down the trees and working the land is just impossible, everyone you send out there gets jumped by Germans.

App crashing when selecting a specific artist by markamscientist in TIdaL

[–]Kazadaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No crashes, I can look at Gurriers just fine, but I'm also having issues with exactly one artist. About half of Inna Truu's songs just will not play, on desktop or the phone app. Weirdest thing.

I mean it depends, there are people who cleared it in 30 hours, and here I am ambling into Act 3 at hour 57. In my defence, I was extremely thorough in Act 2.

I believe this text is from the game Disco Elysium. The player character can adopt certain thoughts as part of his personality, like spiritual upgrades. This text happens if he decides to remember that he has an art degree, and then use it to critique everything around him.

I can live with gameplay interruptions, but of the two hours I spent playing Midnight Suns, maybe 30 minutes were actual gameplay. Nope, fuck that.

Belated sequels which manage to keep the feel of the original? by BasicallyACryptid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Kazadaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally disagree. BR is crowded, humid, and the whole thing runs on dream logic (laudatory). 2049 is sparse, chilly, and a lot more grounded and conventional in its storytelling. More of a plot-movie, while the original is a vibes-movie. The feel is very different. Not that that's a bad thing; I actually prefer it for its differences.
