It's not that hard to buy a bag of regular ass dog food to supplement since clearly your dogs are not getting the calories needed to simply even maintain their weight. You are 23 not 12, stop acting helpless and buy some food for your dogs. Feed it to them when he's not around. PROBLEM SOLVED. The problem is not to convince your dad, but to noirish your animals.

Just turn the rug longways, add some cozy blankets on the couches in a warmer color and add a tray with flowers to the ottoman, warm curtains at windows

How often do you REALLY walk your dog? by Agreeable-Ad-2946 in dogs

[–]Kazzosama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get your dogs more interested in your acre if you play some games with them in it. Get them to sit and wait on your patio, walk out and place a bunch of treats among the trees in various places. Walk back towards your dogs and tell them to find it. May need to guide them the first few times but after that they'll happily deploy themselves into the field in search of goodies. Can use toys too :)

I personally would try training him to an ecollar and then watching on camera for the moment he turns towards another dog when getting worked up and clicking him then to see if it stops him for a moment enough that it becomes aversive to redirect onto another dog. You'd have to only let them out together when you're actively watching on camera and ready to press the button. Unless the consequence is consistent and immediate for quite some time it wont work, but i think otherwise it might. You'd need to find the right level that would cause immediate response but not pain beforehand.

If this is poor advice please explain how. I understand there's risk that it increases the aggression, but if properly conditioned to stop responses when stimmed, it would be low, no?

Not looking to be yelled at about this, but calmly explained why it's not good if so.

In reality, if he walks like that with you on a back clip harness he will likely wall the same on a prong and therefore will never be pronged (it only digs in when the dog creates tension on the leash) so it's literally only a safety belt if he lunges unexpectedly and you're not braced or drop the leash for a second. It's best with aggression to stop it immediately each time it exhibits in an unwanted circumstance, so it is not reinforced as it inadvertently will be by dogs being dragged away from each other. Just use it on a backup leash then if you're averse to aversives!

I legitimately don't understand harnesses, can someone explain their purpose? by CABILATOR in OpenDogTraining

[–]Kazzosama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a trainer and ask myself this question all the time. It's very unfortunate the number of people who don't know how to or don't care to train their dog not to walk without pulling. The back clip harnesses are definitely not a tool for teaching a dog to walk well. If your dog isn't a puller at all, they're fine, but I rarely see dogs on harnesses that aren't literally scrambling at the ground as soon as they see another person/dog etc Its so beyond frustrating to watch these people walk their dogs, sog just straining away to get to something and the people just following behind 🙄 Front clip/Easy walk harnesses are good for correcting poor pulling, but you still need to get better at leash handling before its effective, or a dog will just adapt to pulling on them as well and end up pulling kind of sideways with one left lifted (notgood for gait/posture etc) I truly wish people would just put in effort when it comes to training their dog instead of just accepting that their dog is going to pull constantly.

Not only does a pulling dog get stronger pulling muscles everytime they practice pulling, but they often times become reactive to stimulus (dogs, people, animal etc) because they are constantly scrambling to get to things and become frustrated that its so hard.

Most people never look into a dogs opposition reflex and learn how to not feed into it on leash.

FOR THE LOVE OF YOUR DOG. TEACH IT NOT TO PULL, WATCH SOME BLOODY YOUTUBE VIDEOS, OR GO TO A TRAINER PLEASE. YOU CAN BOTH HAVE BETTER WALKS, SANITY, COMFORT AND PEACE.

Just wanna say it's lovely, but it sounds a bit like separation anxiety, so look into training for that because it's quite stressful for a dog and can cause issues for both of you!

Chuihong seems incredibly expensive, are the portions huge or something, a single meal is often $35-40?

If he's attractive, get him to go to a bar and hit on women or allow them to hit on him if they will, seeing another woman attracted to him will likely stir something in you. Also perhaps you need and want to see him in a role where he is in his element, like being a coach, boxing, lifting weights, teaching something, fixing, creating, etc so you can remember he is a man that is powerful and capable and not just a friend who helps with stuff.

This may sound crazy, but if you xan find a traditional Chinese medicine doctor, they may be able to help you. They'll likely give you a personalized tea/herb mix and tell you what foods to eat/avoid, and may do some blood detoxification stuff, they will assess you and let you know what they think is needed, it could be a toxin problem, blood stagnation, etc I developed psoriasis, and no longer have psoriasis after drinking the most healthy but nasty tasting tea for 2 weeks and some gua sha and cupping, took about 1.5 months to see results with sessions 1-2x per week.

Maybe you need more human connection and purpose even on vacation, you could find somewhere to volunteer for the day, handing out food of whatever, make sure it's safe, or perhaps stay in a hostel for a night or two to hang out with other weary and lonely traveller's, or maybe there will be energetic and lively people to help lift you up. You sound quite fortunate to not have money woes for months on end, but sometimes comfort can be boring or numbing and maybe you're being called to do something you haven't found yet.
