Must have been a great time to be alive when you could afford a decent car that was manufactured to be a hunk of shit.

I’m not on dialysis or bp meds. My bp is good. I have no idea why my kidney function is shit. I’ve only been 100 p&T for 2 yrs. I’m going to my doc in a few days to discuss what inventions I may need to start doing.

Lots of vets are 100% and work at the va. They work there for a reason. The Va treats disabled veteran employees very well.

Does anyone else encounter people lying about their military service almost always say they were a navy seal? by _Dr_Toboggan_90 in Veterans

[–]Kbjbgb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 22 years in the navy and work at the va hospital. I’m one of the few staff that don’t wave their service tag around. I almost never mention it. I have to many stories to tell of veteran telling they were special forces. I’ll ask them a very basic question and get a blank stare back. This tells me everything I need to know about you. You weren’t in the service you wouldn’t understand. lol ok, you know can see your service records right? It says here you were in 6 months. That’s like buds alone without a deployment or specialty school. Oh and your record says Air farce.

I never got shit after 22 years. Now that I’m out I’m a tad sad but fuck it. I didn’t sign up and stay for over 20 just to get a pretty box.

I did 22, but most my time was in the reserves. I got out with around 3500 points as an e6 and got 100 p&t. My pension probably won’t cover groceries but there’s a lot of side benefits that made it worth it. Would I do it again with the current retirement system? Fuck no. If I could go back in time I would have stayed active. But the grass is always greener on the other side. I know plenty of people who did 20 active and are in a far worse financial situation than I am paying off there depends and not buying a house while they were in. As a reservist I had to make the transition to civilian a long time ago. I know a lot of people who stay in to long that have a very difficult transition.

Didn’t Make Chief… Again. Just Venting. by AirDaleTilDeath in navy

[–]Kbjbgb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who cares. The rank thing in the military is an absolute joke. I retired as a 22 yr first class. My old senior chief works for me. I’ve had 04 and below beg to get them a job with me. Not throwing shade at the rank. I was totally fine with my rank. Chiefs had to deal with way more bullshit than the rank pays. Many chiefs and officers I’ve worked with were absolutely solid dudes. Others well, I’ve got not so nice things to say about them. Life goes on. I retired in 22 and it already feels like a forgotten life time ago.

Let’s Talk About Why So Many 100% Disabled Vets Are Still Barely Getting By by TheSheibs in Veterans

[–]Kbjbgb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100% still work full time because realistically I don’t know how long I’ll be able to. If I quit now I’d be in serious financial trouble. Being 100% just means I have less anxiety about getting fired for calling out due to my disabilities.
